I lay a large piece of cardboard in the garden spot several months before planting to kill the weeds . It makes it easier to work the ground by hand if you do not have a machine. A large refrigerator box weighed down with rocks works good. I enjoy all of your videos, and maybe this will help.

TH-cam cleaning your chimney, how to start and maintain a fire in your type of stove and anything else you need to know. Maybe ask the older gentleman in your village. Chances are you will find it! Reuse the mice traps when you the courage to take them out. Lol

Vita, I don't know where exactly your village is, but you can get firewood for around 1900 hyr per cubic meter, and the rest figure out where the beasts come into your house. reseal and it's good.
Thank you! Yes, I was told by my neighbors and firewood should be ordered in advance. Resealing means repairing the old house foundation and it’s half of its price🙄 But one day I will do it…🙂

Sad to see you burning your books and saying goodbye to the life before the war is sadly well I think it’s happening to thousands of other Ukrainians. Here in Scotland, we have quite a few lost Ukrainians who are trying to start again, and I said goodbye to the life that they had before. Love to you, family and friends.

Brigitte L Jones. Doors have to be hung properly and need to have a strong frame to be secured to. You will need a "professional", someone who is experienced with doors to do this. The flies are nothing, some had gotten in and were neatly clustered around a window trying to get out. I think your use of the books in the fireplace was a great idea, and the lyrics of the song are very right.Mice started to come in as the weather is getting colder and discovered food too..Once you make your house your permanent home, just going away for weekends, you could bring cat your around keeping it indoors and its litter. Mice hate cat urine smells, afraid of it. Leave lights on at night(aside bedroom when sleeping)as they like to move around when it's darker.Constant cleaning and careful storage of food and no crumbs or anything edible left around helps too.

Poor darling Vita with those problems. When you refit the door turn it around and have it opening into your house, not outwards. And where are those mice getting in?? You must have some holes or cracks somewhere, which you need to find and seal. And you need 2 metal trays with handles on the front places inside your fire. They collect the ash which you can then slide out easy when they are cool. Take care. Love Bob. ❤

We value indoor space in eastern Europe. Doors open outwards. Quite difficult to kick door in, if someone wants to visit without a key.
There should be metal net around the house between the plinth and outside wall paneling. Ventilation gap is the most probable place where mice come in. Or they can climb to the roof if there are too big ventilation gaps.
@pacifist9805 You will be very surprised but this house doesn’t have a ventilation gap🙄🙄🙄 I will have to pay a handyman to make it in spring. It’s quite problematic to use a bathroom and a kitchen without ventilation 🙄

The door was partially fixed by my neighbor, at least I could close it. But I am tired of hearing that everything in this house should be replaced 🙄 I thought I have bought a cool house but it seems I found a trap for myself 🙈

It brings back memories when I was 12, of me sitting in the kitchen waiting for the mice to come out of the hole that was behind the stove. I would kill them instantly with a lead pellet fired from my air rifle. Good times.

You could use cinnamon sticks, or the smell of cinnamon oil. That will act as a repellant to keep the mice away.
I have used mega liters of peppermint oil but it seems Ukrainian mice are scared of nothing 🙄🙃

You need to ask neighbours how to light the fire properly. You wasted the paper of the books. You use that scruntched up to light the firewood. Ask the neighbour's where to get fresh wood for heating. Not buy wood from city.

Quality of the books seems quite luxurious, but don't give a damn about the monetary cost. Must have caused you a lot of bad feelings, can't really put a price on your sense of feeling better; and maybe this book burning might just have a cleansing action, some sort of catharsis of your heart, soul and mind.

I’ve never been to Ukraine, but rodents shouldn’t be a problem in the country because of all the predators. So the only thing I can conclude is they’ve killed off all the predators there such as foxes, snakes, birds of prey, and creatures in the weasel family. Where I live in the USA rodents are not a problem because of all the predators. There’s even coyotes around. Well, no I take that back. We do have moles in the area, but they never try to get into your house or ruin your crops or vegetable garden. The deer and the birds are the problem here as far as growing vegetables and fruits where I live.
I don’t know who are worse and more scary for me - rodents or predators 🙄🥹🙈 Thanks God, no predators…. At least next to my house.
@@ThinkUkraine Most predators that hunt mice don’t mess with people. Badgers, polecats, hawks and eagles, foxes, etc run or fly away if they see a human approaching.

Dear Vita, I say this as someone who if were Ukraininan, could pass for an old babushka, you are so very blond in this video in so many ways, most especially in being at risk of burning your house down when the embers were falling from the burnnig books right next to the floor covered by more books. Perhaps your time would be better served back in the city finding yourself a new man, be it husband or boyfriend, preferbly a rich one, before something worse happens.

Vita, I guess these mice think you have done such a nice job with your house, they are self-inviting themselves as your guests as most often happens anywhere in the world. As far as flies, they a different story, but a thorough investigation will give you the source. The door also a different story and has evidence that there have been problems with it before also maybe before you bought the house. As far as the mice go give them a final notice to leave and find somewhere else to go, as you are not fixing your home for them, I am sure they will understand, and furthermore leave. Without any humor great and excellent work on your home. I see the real sunflower, pride that only comes and can only be expected from a Ukrainian. I think you are a greater inspiration than you may know to the world around you, Hense making what seems sometimes impossible more possible than one would think, at very first glance from where you started from. Great work and great job in all you do - representing once again the great excellence, talent and uncompromising strength which is inside the heart and soul of every Ukrainian. @@ThinkUkraine Very wise thinking. I have a relative in South Africa who swears by this remedy. 4 tablespoons of Bicarbonate of Soda (baking powder) and 1 tablespoon of Parmesan Cheese. Mix thoroughly, put contents in several containers and placed strategically around the house, and perhaps one or two near the entry point to the house. The mice eat it, their stomach swells and they are unable to eat anything else and then simply dispose of the body, no fuss, no dangerous chemicals. In my country Australia we also have some ingenious traps for the mice plagues that flood through large countryside areas descending on wheat farms.
