This movie is in honor of the actor named Judith Barsi. She voices Ducky from the Land Before Time. Unfortunately, All Dogs go to Heaven was the last movie that she played as she and her mother were killed by her father before the movie was released; she was only 10 years old after dealing with abuse.

the goodbye scene in this movie makes me cry. I do not know if its true but I read that her recordings were already done before, whereas Charlies lines were done after her death, so it took multiple recordings to finish.

The fact that Burt saying "I'm sorry, I'm so very sorry" in the scene where they say goodbye was directly to the actress, not the character, shatters my heart. He was sorry she was taken so soon, and recording that last bit was so difficult for him

The ending is sadder when you know the tragic story behind it.
After Judith Barsi was killed alongside her mother by her abusive father, Burt Reynolds broke down recording the goodbye scene thinking about her.

R.I.P Judith Barsi. Taken from this world far too soon. This movie was originally going to be a lot darker. You can tell there was supposed to be more between where the car started moving, and when it flew off the ramp. Also, Carface was originally going to use a machine gun instead of a ray gun. You can see where they didn't change the lipsync.

Judith Barsi’s story never fails to make me cry, to this day, I still can’t get through this and Land before time without crying whenever I hear her adorable voice.
It took Burt Reynolds 63 attempts to record his part as Charlie when he visits Anne-Marie for the final time. I can't imagine being Burt Reynolds hearing about Judith and having to record these absolutely heartbreaking lines. He had a private recording room, just him and the sound man. Broke down so much. The pain in his voice literally sobbed my heart out
It's so sad that Judith’s last role was all about wanting to have a loving mommy and daddy, and yet it was her own father who ended her life. This wasn’t Charlie saying goodbye to Anne-Marie, it was Burt saying goodbye to Judith. Rest in peace, Judith. Our concrete angel. Yep, yep, yep! 🕊️
A poignant note about this film is the tragic fate of Judith Barsi, the young girl who voiced Ducky. Don Bluth asked her to be in the movie, and her response was "yep yep yep," which became Ducky's catchphrase. Sadly, Judith was tragically murdered by her own father at the age of 10. This heartbreaking reality adds an extra layer of sadness to watching the film, but it also underscores the incredible talent she brought to her role.
Fly high, Judith Barsi. Rest in peace, babygirl.
Rest in Peace, Judith Barsi
OUR CONCRETE ANGEL
YEPI YEP! YEP! 🕊️❤️

Yes, she was so talented and it’s such a young age. It seems like she was going to be a star. She reminds me so much of Selena the famous singer because as such a young age, she had a gift and she was so determined to continue doing what she loved and was going to do more films with Don Bluff, but it’s sad because her own father someone who should’ve loved and cared for her and supported her took that all away, and then killed himself like a coward, my heart hurts for her, but I know she’s in a better place and I hope one day I will see her and Selena in heaven and get both of their autographs. They were my favorite actor singer.

This movie hits me hard for how Judith Barsi is missed by all. I always lose it when her character says “I love you.” as it was the last line she said before she got murdered by her cruel father 😢. Even Burt Reynolds and the cast didn’t finish their lines until after her death and it was oblivious that Burt was saying his lines in the end as a way to honor her and share his grieving over her death.

The final movie for 80s child actress Judith Barsi before she and her Mother, Maria Barsi, were murdered by her abusive alcoholic father, József Barsi, in July 1988 (While the movie was still in production).
Judith was only 10 years old when she was killed and by then she had already recorded all of her dialogue for the film
Judith was also the voice of Ducky in The original Land Before Time movie.
    35:16 was her final words.
It still makes me sad and angry to know that a Father would kill his own wife and daughter (Especially at the very young age of only 10)

This is a childhood favorite of mine from Don Bluth’s library!
There was quite a handful of content that was cut from this film. Some include footage of Charlie getting hit by the car that killed him and then, there’s the infamous Hell sequence, where the fallen creatures had close up shots, not to mention the big bad one that breathes fire; and says “Now your mine” to Charlie.

  • @RA1NnF0G
    @RA1NnF0G 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I’m the end, when Charlie says goodbye, burt Reynolds’s was really saying goodbye to Judith Barsi because just before production of the movie was finished, both her and her mother were killed by her father. Those were her last recorded lines and you can even hear Burt’s voice breaking.

  • @lilhedgehog8576
    @lilhedgehog8576 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Here’s an interesting fact that I didn’t know till I was older. The reason it looks like Charlie got shot, but he didn’t get hurt is because he’s not dead, but he’s not alive either so the shots went through him. He’s like in a state of limbo where the only thing that will kill him is the stopping of that watch.
You can see it if you pay close attention. The shots hit him, but he doesn’t get hurt.

Don Bluth, the creator of this movie has lots of guts to add such dark and mature moments in his animated family movies and that’s why i respect him so much. He is someone who doesn’t see children audience as dumb viewers, he always knew that children can handle some darkness in animation just as long as there’s a good ending. Nowadays most animated movies play way too safe to be more childish and sillier, except for Disney and Pixar though, at least they still know how to add some mature or sometimes dark moments in their animated movies.
But yea, hopefully you watch some of Don bluth’s other animated movies. My most top favorite has to be The Secret Of Nimh, man that one is so good 😄

Interesting to see you watch a Don Bluth movie for a change (I know you already reacted to Anastasia before, but still).
Don Bluth is definitely one of the most fascinating figures in animation history, a man who really pushed the envelope of how dark an animated family film can be as well as brought back higher quality of animation at a time where Disney (whom I still love, don't get me wrong) was playing it a bit too safe ever since Walt Disney died and was always cutting corners visually because of past box office failures.
Even if his films weren't always the best, Don Bluth is one of the reasons animation is still going strong today.
Other films of his that I highly recommend watching are The Land Before Time, An American Tail and ESPECIALLY The Secret of NIMH, a massively underrated gem right there!
Also, fun (and semi-not fun cause this movie bombed as a result) fact: This movie was released in theaters the exact same day as Disney's The Little Mermaid (animated of course).

While many of us are aware of the tragic story behind Anne-Marie’s voice actor Judith Barsi, this was one of Don Bluth’s animated films of the 80s that deserves better praise alongside his other hits like An American Tail and The Land Before Time.
There were rumors that Don Bluth was plagued by pride because unlike his last two movies, All Dogs Go to Heaven didn’t have the involvement of producer Steven Spielberg and was thus not financially successful as his past titles. It was up against Disney’s The Little Mermaid the same weekend, which defeated it at the box office. ADGTH nevertheless had its share of unique voice talents and a story that not even Disney can tell.

I want us to celebrate her life. It’s sad that so many people don’t know what happened to her and I wish they would make a holiday of her birthday or even her life. I wish that every year they would play her movies and memory of her.😢😢😢😢

This is such an odd animation, but Don Bluth never shied away from an odd story. It isn't my favorite, but I loved it as a kid. If you're interested in some better fms from his studio, "The Secret of NIMH" and "an American Tale" are both fantastic: gorgeous animation, beautiful storytelling.

Sadly the girl who voiced the little girl in this movie was killed by her father in a murder-suicide situation, just before this was released I believe. She also voice Ducky from The Land Before Time. That's why the guy who voiced Charlie was so choked up at the end, because he genuinely was, as just found out about it when recording those last lines.
A great film though. If you haven't already you should give The Land Before Time a go.
