Im listening from Germany… very touching episode. My heart goes with Israel and the Jews around the world. Don’t let the enemies win by dividing you. The unity is what makes your people strong. ❤ Lots of love!
I’m listening from Germany. As much as I’m glad to see the release of those girls, I’m also concerned about the defiance of the Gazans. It’ll take decades to abolish an ideology. It’s scary to see how these people think they won despite the death and destruction. I hope the rest of the hostages make it out alive. I’m a mum of two and my kids are those who are of the same age that got released. I panic when I don’t hear from them for two days. Can’t imagine what their parents would have gone through. Much love to all from a keen listener,
I like to think of the defiance you mention as like at the end of a fight when both boxers raise their hand in victory, one knowing full well he lost. The entire hostage release video was staged, BBC did a deep dive into it, what seemed like a vast crowd in fact was a small one. More propaganda. I share the same hope you do for the release of the rest of the hostages. But like you, I feel the ideology will take decades to eradicate. Sending best wishes from Istanbul
It is unfair to characterize the anti deal crowd as cruel or inhumane. The simple truth, that rewarding hostage taking will lead to more hostages long term, cannot be simply ignored
This is true, however there are two elements that can both be true. We can look at this deal from a big picture perspective and legitimately rail against the injustice of it whilst also celebrating the individual joy of seeing these women freed. A complex, challenging and difficult situation that the rest of the world does not understand.
And 82% of the terrorists freed in the Gilad Shalit deal returned to performing acts of terror--the worst of whom was Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of October 7th. Nonetheless, the IDF has a code of "leaving no man behind". So, eventually the Israeli government obligated itself to some sort of deal, despite having to release terrorists to achieve it.
This is the pain of every Jew in the world. This is a complex situation and we can understand both sides of the situation . We need to pull together . My disappointment is the response of the Western World . Morality has been hjacked .🙏🙏🙏🎗️🎗️🎗️💔🇮🇱❤️
Very informative interview, thank you all 3 of you. Continuing to pray for Bibi, Peace in Jerusalem, the hostages' and their families. You have many supporters in South America Africa
Thank you, Dan, and your guests. This is a deeply challenging subject. I especially appreciated the discussion on the distinction between trauma and tragedy. However, I disagree with the idea that the trauma ends once all the hostages are home. With terrorists who have blood on their hands being released and Hamas still entrenched in Gaza, the trauma will persist-perhaps not constantly, but it will remain. True post-trauma recovery can only begin when the threat in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria is fully eliminated. Lastly, thank you to your sister for trying to end the episode on a positive note, almost :-).
Israel should be urged to or make a dramatic cinema that shows how hateful assumptions by Arabs led up to the disaster of Gaza and alongside that horrible narrative a different positive narrative that imagines how decent the lives of Arabs and Israelis could be if only life enhancing assumptions of generosity and kindness were operating You can’t kill an idea but you can lay out a more attractive idea to supplant the ugly idea
I do not accept for one second Halevi's "How can anyone oppose the hostage deal" declaration. People oppose the deal for very, very good reasons. None of those reasons make the opposition into some sort of heartless monster.
Fantastic production value on this intro, I've been waiting for this episode and I can see what took so long. What I would say, however, is that we must not allow ourselves to be nourished by the images our enemies feed us, they are not the truth. What we watched was hostages being lead through a sea of clamoring terrorists. This was very obviously staged. There is a picture from a higher vantage point that shows the "crowd" and it looks far more like a movie set then a show of force.

Thank you both for getting at the heart of my experience of the last 15 months.
Great episode, thank you. Both guests were brilliant but please let Wendy speak more and bring her back more often.
We perhaps should of said No return of the hostages .No food supplies for the people of Gaza !

United we STAND , Divided we FALL !
Hamas is not and never will be trustworthy ! May Hashem bless and heal these young ladies and their families . 🙏🙏🙏🙏🇮🇱❤️
Palestinian prisoners are women and children? Is there no shame?
lol every country has prisoners that are woman
Dan, can you have on Gadi Taub?
Would be a nice counterpoint to his regular guest Nadav Eyal
Gadi is a pseudo intelectual .
Just 'cause you disagree with him? ad hominem observations aren't useful. (And intellectual is spelled with 2 L's)

Cool new intro and outro Dan!

Thank you for this episode Dan. Israel having to make Sophie’s Choice 😢
Men and women openly celebrated in Israel. Only men were allowed to publicly celebrate in Gaza.
Wendy so beautiful expressed .🙏❤️🇮🇱
I hope this works out
yossi interrupted Wendy too much
Let that picture be a p.r learning curve in the next 14 days , in the next round .
I hope someone is listening
