    This is the most beautiful conversation about TOOL. Yes, you’re confused, you’re moved to strong emotions, you go on journeys.
    The “going deeper” makes it a wonderful journey. Years and years of amazing art in their music and all the puzzles, jokes, and spiritual references for you to experience!
    Each member of the band is critical to creating these! You can follow Maynard through his other art for different styles of experiences as well with Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. ❤🤘🎧🎸🎧

    Danny, Adam & Justin make the songs first, and then somehow Maynard puts the words to each song to match. Amazing!

    I don’t know if this will put you at ease or infuriate you, but even after listening to tool for 20+ years, I still haven’t figured it out and find something new with each listen. So don’t be too hard on yourself 😉
    It’s been said by so many people, but it’s more an experience than anything else. And being such a visceral experience, it will feel different and you will see and hear different things depending on your state and what life is looking like for you at the time. It will forever continue to evolve the more you listen.

    TOOL... Spiral out... keep going. Yes, Tool videos generally, in my opinion, just confuse and distract you from the song. Good to go back to later and watch, but not during the first listen. This Parabol/Parabola track is one of my favorites from them. The message is so powerful... we're here, in these bodies, right now in this moment. so LIVE. Do LIFE. Yes there are ups and downs. But all of this we're currently experiencing is a facade, perceived as if in a mirror dimly. We're eternal spiritual beings and this will all be over in a blink. So choose to be present in this holy experience.

    "I don't even want to figure it out because I like it like that."
    Perfect! The songs get better the more I listen then the layers sink in. Tool gives you more to process which makes for a better song. The difference between a full-course meal vs. a side of fries. Welcome, my friends! You two are the best.

    You made sense. The first part of the song is very introspective. It leaves you with your thoughts. The second half let’s you get lost in it.

    The symbol wasn't a pentagram (which is 5 pointed) - this is a heptagram - 7 points. Commonly a symbol for warding off evil - but has lots of other meanings.

    Most always best to forego Tool videos as others have said here in the comments. They are very distracting to the composition a whole, even for a lot of very seasoned listeners! Actually what you heard are 2 songs, not just one. They are Parabol and Parabola. Much better this way since, as you will have understood, they are attached and must be listened to together. If you had taken any video of Parabola from TH-cam, everyone would have flooded you with comments saying that a piece is missing etc. Excellent as always!

    I think the lady likes live performances. Why not have a rest from discordant or Heavy Metal music and go for a true classic performance which has heartwarming beauty - Coldplay singing Fix You live from Sao Paolo. Everyone else has been moved - why not see if it moves you? This one you are listening to is more like music for an unfeeling age.. They say music reflects the society we live in.

  • @baskoning9896
    @baskoning9896 ปีที่แล้ว

    To me, its the story from creation to enlightenment. The crackling sounds in the intro, the little circles, warping back into themselves, creating little rings, that also seem alive (because they have little branch like things): the very fabric of space time is created, atoms, molecules. We zoom out, and see its actually the floor, the basis, or reality. Then the three godlike creatures appear. They represent imho the same deities as the three creatures in 'zeit': the Norns, who shape humanity, the tree of life. They cut an apple: and it evolves. 5 star. Single cells. 6 star. Animals. 7 star. Humans. Then the many hands of your ancestors open the curtains. Pull you inside out. You are born.
    Part 2. In part two we meet a little pet like animal, and a human. The human detects the tree of life sprouting out of nothing. The human goes to the table, and looks inside himself. Cells. Things growing. His two sides mirroring themselves as they create each other. He detects the black ball. I think each ball represents a year of being 'awake', conscious, a measure of time. When its only one: it seems light. He can stroke it. Nothing happens. While the human watches reality outside (of his body, his brain, his house), his little pet buddy is struck down by time. This upsets the human. His first idea is to fight time. To fear death. But he stops doing that. He cuts open his pet friend, very gently, to see where his 'life' is. Is it in the tubes? No. All the tubes are there. He then walks the world, alone. And finds a leaf. Then. He realizes. He looks at the leaf. And finds out where its life comes from.
    It is the background consciousness, that is everywhere. We only think we are, because our cells keep up that illusion. And cells are not real, they are just kept up by the countless molecules keeping up that illusion. So where is our consciousness coming from. From the background. Imagine people being tubes, with a membrane on one side, and open to the other, pointing to a light source. We are born a circle, and the tube grows over time: displaying our lives on the membrane. We think this consciousness is unique to our inside. It is not. It is universal. God is looking at the universe: thru our eyes. There is no such thing as 'ego', as you and I. We are all One.

    As with anything, if you wish to understand, you must start at the beginning.
    For Tool the beginning was in 1992 with their first ep Opiate. Although typically shorter and less 'complex' than the subsequent records, every track is still very much tool, a bit of a young and angry Tool but you'll recognize them for sure.
    If you really wish to understand Tool, its best to listen to them in the order they were released album wise as well as in order on the albums, be ready for some interesting and strange interlude songs if you choose to discover Tool this way.

    hahaha That's the whole point about Tool, it is impossible to figure it out at the first listening, and I would say even after 100 times after ahha Every time the words, the tone, the music will give you a different interpretation and feeling! I have rediscovered Tool songs again, years later, because now, suddenly, the meaning that gets to me is different or deeper or ... There are always clues hidden everywhere.
    And yes, I would say, don't expect to understand all their videos because they are difficult to interpret, so yes, just go with the music and enjoy the ride, and you will be able to focus on the video another time 🤩😍😇

    The videos with Tool are kind of distracting. They are works of art by themselves, but usually leave listeners perplexed. The songs by themselves are easier to digest without those images. Love all of it, but that’s an observation by many people who react to Tool.

  • @BoolFalse
    @BoolFalse ปีที่แล้ว

    you'd paused at the exact time when Eve was born..
    i've my own interpretation of these songs (parabol+parabola)..
    i think parabol is Adam, he's sad and passive without Eve, and that's why Eve comes (parabolA with the female postfix A at the end).. so when it switches to parabolA, he's getting much energy and they both become active and energetic..
    but the birth of Eva was painful, that's why there's "..the pain is an illusion.." during that process.. and that's why there was "..this body holding me.."
    on the other side, parabol and parabolA are two geometric curves that each opposite to other.. when y1=extremum1 the other y2=extremum-1 and together they fullfills all the area..
    in other hand they're yin & yang..
    may i'm overthinking and overanalyzing it, but this is just some philosophical stuff for me..
    Thanks for your reaction.. keep up.. spiral out !!
