- The Battle of Rorke's Drift was an engagement in the Anglo-Zulu War.
The defence of the mission station of Rorke's Drift began when a large contingent of Zulu warriors broke off from the main force during the final hour of the British defeat at the day-long Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879, diverting 6 miles (9.7 km) to attack Rorke's Drift later that day and continuing into the following day.

They almost ran out of boolets. Good job, man! You were previously talking about how much time you spent on the film that did not involve fighting. Well, I'm here to tell you that those pauses from the fighting are actually good. You're taking the time to explain the history instead of just displaying a shootout. It's also kinda nice to have a break from the fighting during the film. It really balances the film and makes it better. So well done!
Thank you! Just saw this comment )
Well done! This was a big project and a lot of work. You did yourself proud! really liked some of the unique camera angles. Thanks for putting it up.
Very epic video mate! My dad shared his fascination for the insane Zulu attacks with me which is why I ended up here. Needless to say that he's also a big fan of the battle at Little Big Horn.
Well done indeed ol chap. The sky at the end really portrays a long battle. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Just liked my own comment lol Angelo Zulu War vid
*Anglo
and HOW did you know that one of my most favorite movies is/was ZULU??? Most excellently done.
bro this is awesome! i love the fact that you included audio from the 1964 film Zulu!
The voices of the minifigures are from the zulu movie 1964
I have to point out the very accurate use of the Martini-Henry rifle here, the very reason the British were able to fight off an attacker over 10 times their strength.
So awesome! Would love to do some War stuff on my Stop Motion Channel someday. The mixing of real history and lego stop motion is really fun. Keep up the great work!
Another great history animation, Great job!
the amount of improvements in this channel is like going through the medieval era till nowdays. very epic
Dang you did good with this one
Whilst I do think this is a very well made video, I do want to point out 3 things. The first is the facial hair. John Chard had a mustache and Gonville Bromhead had a set of sideburns. I won’t fault you for that as it is Lego and there aren’t many great representations of their style facial hair. Secondly, the few zulus that did have firearms had old muskets from trading with locals, not martini Henry rifles. Finally, Durnfords horse did not refuse to participate. Infact, upon the request to take on the zulus, moved ahead of the mission station and engaged them. They were forced to flee from the battle after running out of ammunition. The 24th foot, thinking they were being cowardly, fired several shots at the fleeing horsemen killing Corporal Anderson who was part Durnfords, not the 24th as depicted. Again, I don’t think this is a bad production whatsoever. The same mistakes were made in the movie adaptation of the battle which I assume is where many of these mistakes originated. I did enjoy the night fight, something that the movie fails to depict. I do want to thank you for making this video. Whilst there are inaccuracies, I am glad that you made it in the first place. It’s better to have people who are interested in learning about things like this than to have nobody at all. Thank you.
me omw to use this info to make a historically accurate zulu war rp:
@@jolslikesrifles can’t wait to see it!
Bro can I please see your source on the Durnford part? It’s not that I don’t believe you it’s just that in my studies of wiki, books, articles, youtube, etc, I’ve never heard of that part. Having a whole Calvary there then retreating is a whole new interesting part of this cool battle
@@Settidoesart I mean it says so even on the Wikipedia articles. If you look at the “strength” section, it states “NNH” or Natal Native Horse as well as “Briefly engaged then fled.” There is also a few videos that state this fact if you look up what actually happened at Rorke’s Drift.
I think a video by “The History Chap” titled, “The Battle of Rorke’s Drift - The Reality v the film “Zulu”” explains it the best, but I think Brandon F also made mention on it in one of his 2 videos on the topic, that being “Seriously, how did the British win at Rorke’s Drift?”
In a museum in Oxford I've seen many Martini-Henry rifles from Zulu War.
Keep up the good work, it's amazing.
I love this video sand finally after doing other stop motions on my channel i can also do Zulu wars
This Zulu war battle is the greatest in history my friend, I hope it’s very perfect in designing this lego stop motion
Great job! Always a good day when you post a video.
"We need you! We need you!" Felt kind of bad for the commander not gonna lie.
7:43 "FIRE AT WILL!" --Commander
Also 7:43: "How very nice of them" --Random Private
Nicely done mate! The animation and the void lines really mixed together!
As always an excellent video. How do you find the idea of making a video about Mahdist war?
You should do an animation on the Harlem Hellfighters.
yeah!
Awesome man! Love this story and the animation. Great job as always
very good video you sure are good
Thank you!
nice
this is such a high quality video, from sound to artistic expression, well done.
How did the Zulu Warriors Made Their Shields
the cavalry did not flee they went to the south and defended the mission station untill they ran out of ammo before retreating
I completely forgot that this video was coming out. But thank god I remembered
Ah yes the good old bri’ish people🎩🎩🗿
joke
Anglo-Zulu war but it’s legos
I do not know if you still comment on new comments on old videos
But where do you get your Lego pieces from?
As a history buff when it comes to the expansion of South Africa for the British Empire
I simple wanted to know
Most of the minifigs are from United Bricks. However some of "black" minifigs and some "red coats" are from Aliexpress

Luv your content, keep doing what your doing man
Absolutely fantastic! Well done!
Thanks )
Nice keep up the good work
Hey brudda its me again remember me
Привет ты очень классно делаешь анимации 👍можешь пожалуйста если будет время сделать историческую анимацию про пиратов 👉👈
VERY GOOD
Nice video 👍🏻
It was the Anglo- Zulu war, not the zulu war.
They're literally the same thing, it's referred to as both. And is that all you got from this?
@@cavalier1649 No, it's because Zulu war implies that it was the only war that the Zulus were involved in, which it was not. Anglo- Zulu war, however, respects the fact that it was the only war that the Zulus had with the British.
Love the video it turned out great keep up the great work!
Finally! This awesome video is here!
So good!
Comment for the algorithm
Lieutenant Gronvile Bromhead has messi hair
The Zulu king did say do not attack if they was behind a defensive position
This the audio from the movie zulu
True ) Looks like you know this movie ))
Good video
Another banger 🔥
Hello there my friend! :D How are you? Also you did a great job! :D What will you do for your next stop motion? Will you be doing possibly the next part of the Battle of Antietam? Cause on Brickmania they have Confederate minifigures on it including an officer one as well! :D
Can you make something about the battle of cer in 1914?
Best stopmoiton Channel are back
Super! Fantastik
Do you know that logocrazymotion copying your videos?
Sure I do. You may call it as an official collaboration. Same content but in different language
Plastocombative.

Nice work man also did you get the britsh figures from?
Thank you! Some of the minifigs are from United Bricks and some are from Aliexpress

Wow
hi
Wonderfully done
I love the Zulu battle
Nice 👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome ! I need all these mini figs lol, they are all custom I assume. Can they be bought?
Such a good vid
Lieutenant John chard didn’t have any medals only the Sargent had medals I do know eleven people were awarded the Victoria cross
The British troops at Rorke's Drift were lucky to have been defending a supply depot, or they wouldn't have had 20,000 rounds to begin with.
True
What program did you use to make the video?
Final Cut Pro
Incredibly well done !
Cool!
Yooo
nice vid
Nice work man ❤
At 5:13 that was not in the movie Zulu Why?
It's a real history fact. But I think that in the movie they just didnt want to spoil the reputation of a british soldier.
@@LCMhistory wow.
Conversation be like WUDU! Others U U U U
lol
They fighting 24/7
make lego franco-prussian war plzzz : D
The one problem I see is the Zulu didn't have the Martini-Henry at rorkes drift
They did have them ) Or wait... You mean in my animation they didnt have?
@LCMhistory the Zulu at Rorkes Drift didn't have them because they were the reserve contingent. While they did have flintlock rifles, they used very few due to a lack of powder and balls. Plus, they were horrible shots. That's one of the mistakes the movie Zulu makes. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good movie and is mostly accurate, but that's one of those few things in it that is inaccurate
@@brianwelch-qq3ti hmmm... they were in reserves - that';s right. And in the movie they did shoot from Henry rifles, correct. You wanna say that they didnt plunder the camp at Izandlwana so didnt have an opportunity to grab rifles to the Rorke's drift?
@@brianwelch-qq3ti But! What they did during the fight at Izandlwana? They followed and killed those british who managed to escape from the camp. So technically even they in reserves could get those rifles, like few of them
@@LCMhistory yet there isn't a single account of them using a Martini-Henry during the battle. Believe me, I checked very hard
Did not expect this video
where did you get the zulu warriors and shields that aren't from United Bricks?
Finally
Now could you do another Roman video
Very Well done
Hello i love this animation it is probably one of uour best and smoothest animations and how did u fibd all the music and sound effects
There were only 50 British regulars
So great video ! 👍
Thank you! I dont know why but very few people watch this one and I think it might be the best I made last year )
Where did you get the British soldiers that aren’t from United bricks
From Aliexpress... but they were sold out like a couple of years ago and I didnt see them anymore since.
@@LCMhistory I think I saw the same ones on bonanza but I’m not sure if I would trust that
@@lKES1898 Sorry, know nothing about bonanza... Maybe someone reselling old chinese stuff. I saw smth similar at Aliexpress recently but not exactly the ones I used. The one I used are real copy of the Zulu war soldiers
@@LCMhistory I’ll have to keep my eyes out then.
@@LCMhistory Thankyou for the help mate, love your videos by the way
Nice video can you do Philippines history like battle of Caloocan im a subscriber
Very well done if u watched did
brick productions they both have there own unique views!
The fact this is the battle that the most victoria crodses was awarded around 7 which is impression at the time
What kind of Zulu war is this and why are they killing people?
In the 1870s, the British Empire was trying to expand further into South Africa, encroaching into Zulu territory. The Zulu king wanted to fight a defensive war in order to avoid escalation. His brother, perhaps in an attempt to gain some glory, launched an assault on a British supply depot at what the British called Rorke's Drift - outside of Zulu territory, which went against the king's plan for a defensive war.
Where are you from?
stop motion
gold
Cool dude! I heard about this battle
While this is good lego recetion of several film scenes, and that film did feature certain hisorical events... Neither tihs animation, nor those films are actually history. At best they are entertainment with history and accuracy playing extra roles in the background. At worse they are propaganda.
Maybe you should bare that in mind when deciding whether you use 'history' in your titles.
u actually say melee as (Mel-lay)
Amazing work, I still support you!
Finally something new video
Here we go! This is going to be great 10 min
