      I was just talking about this with someone! I was wondering if trans fats are just hidden under a different name now, like how high fructose corn syrup has like 10+ different names now. Because people are reacting to the foods the same way as if theres trans fats, but the U.S claimed to have removed trans fats from all foods! So wtf lol, but there's still a ridiculous spike in fatty liver and insulin resistance despite "removing trans fats." I've decided it's just better to eat from nature and don't trust packages or labels at all. Of course there's still gmos, pesticides & whatever hormones or antibitoics they inject into the meats if you dont always have access or the funds for organic, grass fed, hormone free stuf, but just hope for the best since there's less of a toxic load from all the unidentifiable processed junk.

      Exactly, on my family the only overweight person with health issues is the one that won't use sugar. She use fake sugar, low fat product and whole grain cereals.
      I, like my grandparents, if I need sweetener I'll just use plane unrefined cane sugar, or honey, if I drink milk it's whole milk, and I'll use whatever meat I'm cooking fats as grease if I need to do something else on the pan. Ie eggs. I'm considered underweight, have no insulin problems and low bad cholesterol. My grandma lived to 100, and my grandpa is soon to be 91. And he still fully functional, walks a few miles every day, no health problems like cholesterol, blood pressure or sugar related.
      High Fructose Corn Syrup is far more damaging than any plane old sugar and I don't see people stressing over it when I'm doing my grocery shopping. I try to avoid it like the plage but the damn thing is in everything. I hope for one day to be banned.

      Two more important protocols to prevent/clean up plaque. Keep inflammation at bay. Inflammation is important for infections. The immune system is doing what it's supposed to do. Inflammation can damage the blood vessel walls, which causes plaque to stick.

    I agree with this. I went from drinking maybe a half 2liter of soda a day and eating whatever(fast food and just non healthy stuff), not watching calories, while being pretty active, to drinking water only and eating once a day, typically a thick ribeye steak and a few happy egg organic free range eggs. Sometimes some oven baked wings(no spices or sauces). Didn’t necessarily watch calories, but I’d say it was somewhere under 1500 calories a day. I felt as full as the previous unhealthy diet. I lost about 40 lbs in 3 months. Not only that, I felt absolutely wonderful compared to how I used too.
    Definitely didn’t feel hungry like most people think will happen changing up a diet. The way I look at it is it’s just a matter of eating certain things you like and making sure to not eat other certain things you like. Drinking water only was the only uneasy thing but got used to that pretty fast. Faster than I could of imagined.

    There's a weird thing i try to figure out.
    At home i am very strict on my eating to beat my insulin resistant. No matter what's my diet, only one single time breaking it, blood glucose jump significantly even though i am a very active person walking 2 hours daily plus other workout activities (swimming....).
    But when traveling to Europe i eat ton of fruits, drink cocktails, hot wine (it's sweet), eat late and going to bed at 3,4 am most of the time. Wake up in the morning with blood sugar below 100. Isn't it amazing? I believe something about the ingredients in the food. I also drink a lot of fresh full milk and that doesn't bother my digestive at all. I randomly touch the dairy food, milk butter and cheese in the US that give me a lot of trouble. You barely see organic products in Italy markets and grapes in Europe are not sprayed with any chemicals.
    I strongly believe we are eating bad food from bad sources and living in the bad environment in the US. Thinking to move away for longevity

    I think sugar is important once you become diabetic. My experience has been about the consumption of carbs, how many, and the serving size. I am talking about complex carbs, not simple carbs. I haven't had trans fats in 15 years and I still struggle with type 2. The best method I have experienced is losing visceral fat. You have to watch the type and amount of carbs you consume, no trans fats, no simple sugars, exercise hard, eat fat and protein, fast, and if you are insulin-dependent watch it carefully and get off it as soon as your health allows. Insulin will work against your efforts to lose weight. Is type 2 reversible? Kind of. Once you reverse the effects of type 2, you must maintain it or it will return. Bottom line, lose the fat and reverse your fatty liver then reversing type 2 will follow.

    5:07 "Insulin resistance caused by the pancreas being dysfunctional"? I'm a bit rusty on this topic but I thought insulin resistance had to do with requiring an abundance of insulin due to an inability of insulin to effectively shuttle glucose into cells for energy metabolism. I agree that if the pancreas does not produce sufficient insulin then glucose levels would be elevated (textbook type 1 diabetes), but this would be different from insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes).

    • @mattermat1925
      @mattermat1925 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right. Pancreatic dysfunction leading to insufficient insulin being released would be diabetes, not insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a feature of the cells in the muscles/liver/adipose starting to ignore the insulin, not the pancreas failing to produce it.

What we meant was trans fats cause insulin resistance. . . . And we’re also looking to see if breathing causes insulin resistance. All these studies keep looking at one thing at a time and our bodies don’t work like that. There are numerous things that work synergistically, and NOT everyone reacts the same way, that contribute to health and wellness vs sickness and disease.

    This causes the proportions to be upside down.

    Sounds obvious really, but it's kind of an incremental progression of what we know so far.
    I just think about all the bad advice regarding health and weight over the years.
    30 years ago my doctor told me I had a fatty liver. Surprised me (since I wasn't overweight), I was told to "cut down in my drinking" despite the fact that I drank very little. But, that was the belief at the time.
    Later, it becomes apparent that alcohol is only a contributor to fatty liver and not the primary cause.
    As an endurance athlete I was in the habit of carb loading. Then I find that's really likely contributing to the fattyness of my liver!
    OK, so it looks like sugar is the poison killing my liver!? Fine I'm cutting down on that too.
    At my age I was at THE epicenter of the trans-fats generation. Highly processed vegetable oils were considered more healthy.
    So now this. Totally makes sense to me and honestly seems pretty obvious when you think about it.
    The sudden glut of carnivore dieters. What would be something they DON'T consume? Trans-fats (& sugar)
    Of course in a few years we may find out this is wrong, but it certainly . . . . feels right.
    I mean if we clog up the liver with trans-fats, then it only makes sense that it will get inflamed and have difficulty processing the sugar, carbs, and alcohol! 😮

No sweet food or drinks. I only eat twice a day, lunch and dinner making sure dinner is exactly at 6pm. Drinking water only because I feel the kidneys always need to be clean or purified. I started 2 weeks ago. I have lost 14 lbs, and whats amazing my knees would hurt and swell when walking especially on concrete. My knees are not swollen anymore and don't swell walking on concrete. I have painful muscle spasms every day but they started becoming less. I haven't had one in the last four days. I would clear my throat constantly and I had lost the tone in my voice when I would sing and I have loved singing since I was a child. Now my throat stays clear and the tone has come back to my singing voice. Also my eyes looked yellowish all the time and I thought it was age. Now my eyes are white. I also don't fall asleep without knowing it because I feel lite and have a lot of energy. My tongue always felt swollen and it's small again. Thr bible said do not be guttonous and I feel especially now with my results that eating more than you should and the added products destroy our bodies. I was eating a lot of red meat (which does have trans fats believe it or not) and all organic fruit. (For reference, I’m a very lean and athletic human being)

    Work with insulin dependent diabetics has shown that high gluten wheat like al dente pasta and pizza crust may require up to double the insulin per gram of carbs, extended over up to 12 hours to manage. This has been confirmed by Harvard research. The probable mechanism is a direct stimulation of glucagon and possibly stress hormones as the gluten bound starch granules transit the intestines. Type 1 diabetics often have to run extended boluses of insulin for high gluten wheat products, and the extended boluses may end up containing 150%-200% as much insulin as an equal number of carbs from something like potatoes or lower gluten bread products.

Intramyocellular lipids (IML) from animal saturated fat is the real cause of insulin resistance, because it inactivates insulin receptors. Processed sugar just makes it worse. This is mainly why Whole Food Plant Based Nutrition actually reverses Type 2 Diabetes, because it helps to clear out the IML from cells, since we aren't consuming it anymore. The retina and brain and other organs are damaged by the leaking capillaries."
    Ray peat has talked about this since the 70s...
    Sugar (a naturally occuring compound in the body in the form of glucose and glycogen) was never the problem.
    PUFA locking it OUTSIDE of the cell is....
    And just so happened to become a staple in 1950s American food supply chain right before American waistlines exploded girth.
    Ps, pufa isnt the only thing that causes insulin resistance, ie... Radiation, stress, bodily injury and chemical exposure can cause even more. But PUFA happens to be the most damaging in food.

    Reducing sugar intake is essential for health and longevity. Controlling insulin levels is crucial for managing blood sugar. Fasting can help regulate insulin by reducing glucose intake, allowing the body to use stored energy. However, it's essential to monitor fasting periods carefully and consult a healthcare professional for guidance, especially for individuals with diabetes or other health concerns. I've neem on OMAD for almost 1 year and I'm never going back to 3 square meals a day!

      Protein and fat keeps insulin stable three hours after eating. This is true. But several hours after, the overall insulin is HIGHER than it is after just a a fruit meal.

    I am on a low spike diet! 😂

    • @CarbageMan
      @CarbageMan ปีที่แล้ว

      Spikes can be good at the right time, such as after or during exercise and when eating protein, provided it comes back down quickly. I've used a CGM and monitored the result of a protein shake and some shrimp (read: very little fat) after a heavy workout. My sugar spikes for about 45 minutes and it's back at baseline in a little over an hour. That's probably about 15 grams net carbs and 50g protein. I was diagnosed diabetic five years ago, and went keto in response.
      As for "bad carbs and seed oils" that's 100% correct. I avoid them. I avoid pretty much all carbs except crucifers and other non-starchy vegetables and non-sweet fruits with the exception of post-workout high-protein binges.
      PS: I meant to point out that the "good" is that the spike corresponds to an insulin spike, which shuttles the protein into your muscles.

    Yes, 100%! As a person with type 1 diabetes I can tell you that all fat, not just trans fat, causes insulin resistance. Anything more than 15g fat per meal/snack causes acute insulin resistance for about 4-8 hours. I love my healthy fats, but just something to be mindful of and careful not to overdo.

  • @TheFrankHummer

    I have been hearing for just a few years this idea that higher carbs can be tolerated fairly well in a context of somewhat low fructose and VERY low seed oils and very low transfats. (Real Food, etc.) I think this may be right, but I still suspect that for people who developed Insulin Resistance on the standard American diet, or who have carb cravings related to that, or who are currently obese -- those people may need to stay on keto, or something close to it. And I think they will do fine.

      As a type 1 diabetic who has previously followed a whole food low fat plant based diet. You are correct. Your body becomes more efficient at processing carbs. When your body becomes more efficient at processing carbs you then require less insulin becoming more insulin sensitive. I use low carb and low fat plant as tools to boost my insulin sensitivity

  • @jonahbert111
    @jonahbert111 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember. The deal the process food Industry made about transfats and their reported analysis on the label. The sample size for testing is made so low, that the level of detection is very low, meaning the test may only detect levels above say 0.5% or even higher. So, all those labels saying 0% transfat may be hiding that there is significant transfat there, just that the test could not detect this transfat. This is just another reason to avoid manufactured foods with such labels, particularly fried foods, even without labels.
