For big cannons, you can also use a quick release breach this is in fact what the big cartridge was designed with in mind, you can also you an arm to load it that way with big car cartridge
I noticed the clockwork mod mentions the valkyrian skies mod. You can build literal fully physicsed boats and airships with that mod if you wanted to. Build a big blimp that says subscribe or something on the side and fly it around the colony.
Valkyrian skies is a library mod. You're thinking about Eureka, which depends on Valkyrian Skies to function and perform the tasks that you mentioned. Clockwork also uses Valkyrian Skies.

Eureka does some cheating to help keep the ships stable even when they shouldn't while Clockwork doesn't help by default which becomes a far more complicated engineering challenge now that you actually have to make sure your center of lift is at least in line with your center of mass.

@@amhuman5138 Not in this context, that's for ground vehicles that have an armor greater than 35mm RHA (MOA), Naval armor is mostly light (till 1965) where the most armored part is 20mm RHA, this is to not let the enemy shells penetrate but to also not allow APHE and SAP to fuze. In this context HE goes through most ships up till 1958 Take the G5 and PT boat series for example, where HE simply is made to kill the crew and explode the enemys ammunition stowage/fuel tanks - it penetrates because the maximal armor on those is 2mm (sheet metal) and later models have 12mm RHA (MOA) armor, which isn't enough to fuze the HE on the outside if the shell weighs above 5kg.
You're also forgetting that AP has no HE filler, for it is a kinetic penetrator that relies on speed and the size of the projectile to maximise shrapnel, The goal of a cannon is to SINK or CRIPPLE the ship, HE for example would work better, maybe even Artillery Fuze.
My knowledge on Naval Warfare and naval cannons Is sparse and limited but I can assume similar laws apply for Naval Cannon, Artillery, and Field Guns respectfully.
Now, instead of defending your colony from the pirates, take the battle TO the pirates! With that said, I propose you build a battleship equipped with nine guns in a three-gun turret configuration. Don't just have land superiority, have sea superiority as well.
Now all you need is a dreadnought and you can fight in the sea or a more modern battle ship those cannons look perfect you just need to find out how to stick two of them together in one turret and attach it to a ship
@@liambomb91six I tried it, i tried starting with PT boats with simple light single gun batteries and rocket launcher batteries (essentially sawed off low velocity cannons and high velocity batteries) and the ship would RANDOMLY get stuck and not move for 30 minutes at a time then it'd move like 1 block and get stuck again, i think it has to do with the Valkyrienskies render since its a very buggy mod and confirmed to cause a lot of issues. It was cool while it lasted tho lol.
Also when you turn a large area into a ship on accident you can lock its physics and disassemble the ship with respective commands. If you have world edit you can teleport the ship into the sky beforehand, after finding a corner or identifiable landmark to paste it to, then copy it, schematic it, and paste it using that landmark in respect to its correlated spot on the structure. Always make a backup of your world before doing anything with Eureka or clockwork.
Imagine a battleship made with these. 4 barrel gun turrets making u.s.s. wisconsin look like a pt boat. Anti aircraft to scratch the sky clean. Possibly battleship deployable drop ships to land troops. Battery at front and back of battle ship for anti personel/submarine missles or torpedos.
if you use a quickfiring breech you can auctally automate the loading/unloading of cartridges using a mechanical arm which is easier than having to manually remove the cartridge as you currently are doing
Love the video, I'm a former artilleryman for the army and I just wanted to throw a quick correction out there for some of the people in the comments. Most of you aren't wrong parsay when defining an artillery battery. Most modern use of it is in land forces and refers to the equivalent of a company of artilleryman, we just call ourselves a battery. However the actual usage of the term is for when a gun is on line and ready to fire again. When cannons were first introduced to a battlefield, they didn't have modern recoil systems so they would roll back with each shot. Once they rolled back, they were reloaded and then pushed back into battery. Modern times, we generally refer to battery as when the gun has completed the recoil cycle and is back to it full forward position.
You could take a fluid shell, fill it with lava, then put a prox fuse on it and set it to like 10 blocks, so you'll have basically an airburst shell. Would be useful for taking out wooden structures or spreading fire over a larger area.

0:50 there is a very easy way. using mechanical arms, qucikloading breach upgrade, and a couple of depots. makes it so it loads without you having to redeploy the cannon. reguardless it is an impressive design.

Now I don’t know if this is even remotely possible, but look up the Infamous Austrian/German failed artist guy’s mega tank weapon and make that. Essentially just this cannon twice with 6 20mm guns on the rear with the tank itself large enough to house 2 motorcycle and a car. Oh yeah, extra credit if you get a toilet inside it as well.
sadly clockwork is incredibly bugged on 1.20.1 which is whats probably causing most issues, also put an impact fuse on the he shells for most damage, proximity explodes farther away from the target
Dude I've always been trying to combine create, valkyrien skies, minecolonies and genrally more content but none of my attemps match that pack, I'll try it for sure. Also big props for being completely open about using commands to force raids, a lot of creators pass them off as genuine good timing when they do that. I doesn't remove anything from the video to admit it to it a tiny bit of scrippting, they're removing from their videos by faking them.
they are tough to combine, minecraft is notch's vision of a quick artistic rendering engine to it's world loading limits.. create cannons is cool but there are no 4X functions of the game without tracking outside render distance.. their real application is when there is a better airship mod and there are slow moving large ships to be picked through.. honestly there needs to be a 3D airships conquer the skies to get a fix on all this.. it's a really good idea but minecraft is super limited in what it can do as far as wargaming because it's meant to render block paintings, not a strategy game spanning more than the render distance, but maybe there will be a way.. I think it is in slow airships and big create tanks that drop mobs, there is also the issue that only 1.16 low temperature world gen has the enormous oceans for shiplike content, there is a lot to be done to get the game to the state this needs, there is also that wip trench and explosives mod.. it's been a long time since ace of spades but there are tough things to solve in a voxel game for the whole vision of steampunk strategy

You might want to use create interactive rather than clockwork for something this stationary. It's made by the same people but a lot more stable in my experience. Good for things that rotate but don't need to fly or otherwise move like a vehicle.

some tanks also use 2 piece ammunition, mainly soviet style mbts and heavy tanks

You also have armor piercing shells which should penetrate the hull of the ship then explode saving you a bit of ammo and maximizing damage.
But it's a wood ship innit? So overpenetration is a concern here. HE shell might be a better idea.

0:50 there is a very easy way. using mechanical arms, qucikloading breach upgrade, and a couple of depots. makes it so it loads without you having to redeploy the cannon.

Now I don’t know if this is even remotely possible, but look up the Infamous Austrian/German failed artist guy’s mega tank weapon and make that. Essentially just this cannon twice with 6 20mm guns on the rear with the tank itself large enough to house 2 motorcycle and a car. Oh yeah, extra credit if you get a toilet inside it as well.
sadly clockwork is incredibly bugged on 1.20.1 which is whats probably causing most issues, also put an impact fuse on the he shells for most damage, proximity explodes farther away from the target

Dude I've always been trying to combine create, valkyrien skies, minecolonies and genrally more content but none of my attemps match that pack, I'll try it for sure.
Also big props for being completely open about using commands to force raids, a lot of creators pass them off as genuine good timing when they do that. I doesn't remove anything from the video to admit it to it a tiny bit of scrippting, they're removing from their videos by faking them.
they are tough to combine, minecraft is notch's vision of a quick artistic rendering engine to it's world loading limits.. create cannons is cool but there are no 4X functions of the game without tracking outside render distance.. their real application is when there is a better airship mod and there are slow moving large ships to be picked through.. honestly there needs to be a 3D airships conquer the skies to get a fix on all this.. it's a really good idea but minecraft is super limited in what it can do as far as wargaming because it's meant to render block paintings, not a strategy game spanning more than the render distance, but maybe there will be a way.. I think it is in slow airships and big create tanks that drop mobs, there is also the issue that only 1.16 low temperature world gen has the enormous oceans for shiplike content, there is a lot to be done to get the game to the state this needs, there is also that wip trench and explosives mod.. it's been a long time since ace of spades but there are tough things to solve in a voxel game for the whole vision of steampunk strategy

You might want to use create interactive rather than clockwork for something this stationary. It's made by the same people but a lot more stable in my experience. Good for things that rotate but don't need to fly or otherwise move like a vehicle.
