Sue Karenujira for the HOA, make it your own property and issue heavy fines to the former board for voting in and enforcing unconstitutional ex post facto rules...
Rules are rules, but the Law is the Law, and a majority of state laws state uncategorically that HOAs cannot ban structures that were in place before the HOA was formed, and that such structures must be grandfathered in to prevent the HOA from imposing fines on the homeowner whose property has such structures. This includes, garages, carports, sheds & pools.
What the Karen in the title story was doing is known in legal circles as 'retroactive enforcement', in other words, applying a rule to something that was allowed or legal before the rule was established. This is also known as an ex post facto law, and under the United States Constitution, ex post facto laws are strictly prohibited, and courts have long held that HOAs are prohibited from passing or enforcing bylaws & rules that are in direct violation of state & federal laws, including those in the Constitution. So what Karen did was in clear violation of federal law, and she was lucky she didn't end up going to prison for it.
For those unfamiliar with the legal terminology, rendering a judgment with prejudice does not mean having David Duke or other bigots write it up. Being judges, court officers writing an order to apply and prevent repeated frivolous and/or hostile refilings of a suit cast the order with similar effect applied against repeats. Pre-judged. It's the courts' equivalent of the double-jeopardy principle which bars prosecution of a plaintiff for the same crime twice.
The one with the HOA Karen tearing up the pool. How is she able to make such a ridiculous comment when the pool was there for 15 years before the spanky HOA started?
I really wonder why, as part of their actions against HOAs, people don't ask for dissolution of the harassing HOA, or their removal from the abusive HOA's authority, and obligations towards them dissolved, and a permanent injunction against further harassment.
No, beg to differ. The only good hoa is the token one, no enforced rules or fees. Primary goal stated is to prevent another HOA forming. Rules bare minimum to be legal ie elections and board. Last rule, "rules cannot be changed unless 100% of homeowners vote for change"
That first story's Karen was violating a no-trespass order just by being in the store? I am honestly appalled that these freaks against nature manage to surpass even my decidedly jaded opinion of how "low" they can go.
Kicking Karen story: I think Karen got off lightly all things considered. Pool vs HOA story: OP, did you actually, foolishly join the HOA? If so, why? But you are correct that she can't make changes after the fact. And this, among other reasons, is why I refuse to live in an HOA property. Many, even most, may be well run. But it only takes one person determined to be a petty dictator running roughshod over everyone else to ruin peoples lives. Airport Karen story: Karen is lucky she and her family weren't prevented from boarding the flight. I suspect if OP had a word with the gate agent(s) and/or the flight's pilot, that could have happened.
Why not include the company that demolished the pool? They obviously didn't do their due diligence by making sure the property was not in anyway attached to the HOA.
1) Really stupid of the cleaning crew to F up the business with what they did. Good for OP for pressing charges and the business too for violating her being trespassed earlier by that business. Glad it worked out as it did. 2) Good for OP for having a lovely home, too bad the HOA had to cause trouble. How they could have done this was insane. I'm glad both the HOA and the leader got personally sued and the HOA ended. 3) There are two different kinds of people in the world, people who do the right things, and slobs. It's unfortunate there are so many slobs. NIce when AH's get their comeuppance. 4) Some people shouldn't breed. 5) Good grief, too bad there was a problem when this was supposed to make life easier. It's good OP reported the bad behavior and they got a new ride to get them where they needed to go.
Last story happened to me as well Driver claimed could not find me so canceled the ride Bolt tried to charge me cancelation fee I refused saying driver never pitched up New driver was ordered and found place easily No idea what happened after that to the driver
As for HOA's, just don't join them.. They can't force you to.. And don't buy a property where signing up is a precondition of sale. When I was househunting, anyone mentioned HOA to me, I immediately halfed the value of the property since they were "selling me a property they could not give me complete ownership of."
Of course it does. The Karens in these stories know that if they tried to pull this crap while the homeowners are at home, the cops would be called & on their asses on an instant. The last thing they want is for the homeowner to be able to interfere with their plans by being at home.

Some of those HOAs act like their community is their personal empire.

Hello everyone! It's a nice day here so far. Might get some rain later today. I hope you all are having a good day today. Stay safe! 👍😎👑🥰🌻🖖
Story 2: A prime example of "Give a little power, lose your head."
Sadly not literally, as per the French Revolution.

I really wonder why, as part of their actions against HOAs, people don't ask for dissolution of the harassing HOA, or their removal from the abusive HOA's authority, and obligations towards them dissolved, and a permanent injunction against further harassment.
In some cases, especially with newer developments, the development puts in a clause that an HOA is required otherwise there could be consequences.
That maybe so, but if it acts illegally, or becomes a vehicle for illegal action, that may become an irrelevance.
the best HOA is one that dont exist

I wonder how many HOA aggressors have ended up missing because they picked on weren’t the type to play?
Not enough >.>
Yeah but YOU left it there TOO.
Story four:the karen could have been banned from the airport if she continue to acting entitled.

HOA Karens claim that neighboring properties must follow their *&(^^*(&^* because they are within sight of HOA properties.
Hello again Krown and listeners. 😊 Hope all had a good day. 😊

Flight story, hopefully Karen is put on airlines Do Not Fly list. Then the other airlines blackball her as well.

If an app is charging you a cancelling fee after their driver failed to show at the agreed upon time.. That app isn't worth using..
HOA's must be out lawed.
Good evening, Krown, from London Ontario Canada.
Everything always happens when people leave on trips.
Of course it does. The Karens in these stories know that if they tried to pull this crap while the homeowners are at home, the cops would be called & on their asses on an instant. The last thing they want is for the homeowner to be able to interfere with their plans by being at home.
