His biggest problem was that He couldn't leave the Roach Coach double hamburgers and Motorpool Schnitzel alone.
I don’t think Sneak-Peak is dull. I agree he isn’t actually camouflaged well, but he’s not neon. There’s probably some nostalgia there, but I always thought the oversized periscope was a fun (if impractical) accessory.
I always thought his look may have been inspired by the future soldiers in Terminator. The quilted suit and the helmet are similar and we know GI Joe often took inspiration from movies.

I remember the issue with Dusty. SP's had a relative who died in the line of duty and the body was never recovered. SP's mom made Dusty promise that if anything happened to her boy, Dusty would bring him home. Dusty kept his promise. It was one of those things I liked about the comic, it showed their families and how serving affect them for good and bad.
Sneak peeks death was retconned when Larry relaunched the original comic in 2010, this was simply because Larry forgot sneak peek was established as dead, so he explained how sneak peek was alive. Sneak peek had some good character moments in the newer issues, though he was killed off for real this time in issue 240 something I forget which issue it was.
I always read his second death as a bit ambiguous.
I used him as another member of Battleforce 2000. He was a good side character to use as a technician.\\There are a couple of figures that worked out as Maintainers and Service Support guys.
That would actually be a cool idea. Motor pool and tech dudes that don’t leave the FOB. I guess Dress Blues Gung Ho and Doc (nobody would ever field a medical doctor; we have physician assistants for that) would be the originals. Probably Mainframe too.
Regardless of the inspiration for the figure, I can only see the card art portrait as John Lovitz. To this day I still call him the John Lovitz GIJoe. "Yeah, that's the ticket."
when he came out in 87 I did not lkie it but as an adult collector it has grown on me

Sneak Peek makes a great vehicle crew member or driver.
That's the most effective use I could figure for the figure. Otherwise, Sneak Peek just didn't see much use here.
I remember buying in Sneak peak in ‘87, so I have a soft spot for him and I really liked him at the time. Now I feel sculpt is pretty good, but the colours are meh…

I always thought it was supposed to sit on the ground while he looked through the scope while laying prone behind cover.

I'm alone here but Sneak Peek was my favorite G.I. Joe toy...
Sneak Peek is one of the very few figures in recreating using the Marauder Gun Runner figures... That is until now! I either didn't know there was a Night Force version or I just forgot, but that is the version I'm going to make now. Thanks for the review and I hope you enjoy your week off. Take care! 😎👍
I wouldn't mind seeing King brought back in on the franchise with a more direct role in creating a few characters & writing a story or 2 as his initial contribution was rather weak, honestly. Lean into the cartoon's weirdness to make a horror story out of it, keep it separate from Hama's work. Unfortunately Hasbro can barely afford to use decent plastics in half their Transformers these days so I don't see them spending extra for something like that.
King disliked Shining for the same reason he dislikes most adaptations of his books- deviations from the novel. He remade the film himself, sticking closer to it, but it's not as memorable. No big name stars, sort of sloppy directing & even though it deviated from the book, Jack Torrance running around with an axe is memorable for being terrifying. Giving him a croquet mallet feels like a bad attempt at being comedic. However the remake is regarded for having a better ending, as the original just trailed off with Jack freezing outside whereas in the remake he saves his family.
At that time, I wanted just about all of the figures. I wanted figures with all kinds of accessories. I wanted figures with lots of colors. I wanted figures who looked like "basic" troops, and Sneak Peak fell into that last category, as well as the first with the big periscope.
It is baffling as to why the designers chose to add that extra microphone accessory and some of the other parts of the periscope but not a backpeg for it.
HCC has Allister the Cat and that's scary.

Great accessories cool sculpt except for the face makes the whole figure look pudgy (fat) which isn't always a bad thing but it is for Sneak Peek

I was out of Gi Joe by the time this guy came out, but to me (without the telescope thing) he looks like a pilot. Actually looking at it again I know why. He reminds me of the X-Wing pilot from the Star Wars toys.
Agreed. He's definitely got a sci-fi vibe to him, something out of SW or the og Battlestar Galactica.
I kind of wonder if they used Owen’s look too because Sneak Peek kind of looks like a big kid with that moon face.
The only practical thing about this figure is the rifle and field glasses with which he came equipped. Otherwise, you'd have to repaint the hell out of him and lose the oversized periscope if you want to include him in any of your missions.

I can tell you as a fan I would've loved to have seen a Joe I came up with made as a figure(but not named after me)the fact that they did the request of a famous person's kid was always upsetting to me .maybe that is why Crystal ball is so hated (besides not really working within the confines of the g.I.Joe mythos)and why this one is often forgotten.the filecard did indeed make him out to be badass but i guess that was done to make Stephen's son feel awesome.if I worked on the Joe line and decided to do a figure of you,Hcc,I would make that character be a JAG CODENAME:LAWSUIT.:)

In the UK there was DEFINITELY a Sneak Peak for Tiger Force.
However he was just as dull. But had an orange chest with tiger stripes so....
I feel personally attacked by the wakeup call. 😂 Admittedly I've used your videos to fall asleep to as I need something on in the background to quiet my mind. Why not listen to the history of GI Joe?
The Night Force version does look to be better for sneaking.
What they should have done is reuse Roadblock v2's tripod and come up with smaller item to put in the top of it to have the big lens thing and a directional microphone, with a couple handles and a periscope viewer lower down that dog legged off the tripod center axis so he could use it while sitting down. That would have been a simpler item and use less new parts.
That's what this periscope thing is missing, some kind of tripod cradle thing to support it.
And, as usual, Night Force repaint improves the figure!

You're right, the middle section is upside down. If it is turned around Sneak Peak can hold the periscope.

You're right on all points about him being dull and impractical, but I can help myself loving this figure. He's one of those guys that I've had since childhood. Can you imagine if he got the Classified treatment?!? What a wonderful world we would live in if Hasbro gave us that.

He's a pretty uninspired affair, but I'll take dull and drab over colourful and outlandish any day. I never did understand why he came with both the mic and the walkie-talkie, though. Is it for back-up communication when the mic goes missing after five minutes?

Stephen King hates The Shining movie, and HCC788 thinks Sneak Peek is dull. Two bad opinions from people whose work I otherwise enjoy. Fortunately, the value of their other contributions more than compensates for these takes.

I liked sneek peek a bunch , but they did make him look like a durpydumpy fat cheeked boy. In the comic he ended up being badass when he was with the lrrps and faked his death in the trucial abmsysia war

Such an awful character. Drop that giant scope one time and it’s useless. He’ll never jump from a plane or even run on the battlefield.
The Shining movie is so different that it's not the same. He doesn't like it because they almost could've changed some names and called it something different. Also, Kubrick made cerebral, serious, bordering on pretentious movies. King, by his own admission, writes pulpy schlock. It was never gonna be something he liked. They're too different. I love em both though.
