Every time I watch one of your reviews, I am impressed. I love your fondness for classics and mature fragrances, especially being a young guy. Great work!
Beautiful masculine scent! I used it some twenty odd years ago, and I have so many great memories attached to it. I recently bought a 50 ml bottle which I emptied in about three weeks on vacation in Spain. The performance and quality is inferior to the vintage formulation, but I still love it! Highly recommended.
One of the absolute best fragrances today. Incredibly fresh with that slight lemon touch, I wear it mainly on summer. A fresh perfume to wear on warm summer nights.
This is one of my very favourites and I have no idea why it doesn't get more love in the frag community. It's interesting that you mentioned poor performance. There is an 'Intense' version of 1881 that is becoming pretty hard to find now. Give it a whirl!
Oh an intense version ??! I might have to buy that one for sure, it’s an amazing smell just does not last on me much, thank you for the link and for watching/ commenting bro !
Definitely track this one down it’s a great summer/green scent, performance is not so good but that just means you can go through the bottle faster lol
One of my favorites. Performance is better than Eau Sauvage or Boucheron Pour Homme. Particularly prefer this over the Boucheron, which I like but strikes me as a pale impression of Habit Rouge
I do not own either of those but glad to hear someone’s getting decent performance, regardless the scent is really nice I love the light citrus and heavier green combo
Eau Sauvage does perform MUCH better on my skin! Longevity is at least 10 h, with acceptable/moderate projection after 1 h. ES was never meant to be a power house, but a fine, elegant perfume for the distinguished gentleman. 👍🏻
Don Dan I know what ES was designed to be, I’m not criticizing it. I’m just comparing its performance on me to 1881 because I feel they have similar purposes
Completely disagree that this has bad performance. Must be different skin types, as on me it is a beast. Beautiful scent and low cost without lacking the quality.
The scent is amazing and is low cost high quality I just personally find that I can no longer smell it after a short while but maybe others around me can. Different skin types is also a thing as well. Thank you for watching and commenting dude !
My dude! Pumping out the videos lately! I had a bottle, reminded me of Boucheron Pour Homme. A solid 90’s classic masculine. Good stuff but not enough for me to treasure it and hold on to it.
Yeah I know what you mean I gave it the 6.5, the smell I loved which is what boosted the rating but the performance on me was so poor it makes it hard to wear because the experience of it is so brief, I do enjoy the greenness of it though. It’s a nice daily scent
Scents Of South Jersey lol! Idk if ur interested but I picked up Atomic Bay Rum from Phoenix artist accroutments and idk if you like bay rum dude but holy shit that stuff is STRONG! Banger strong. The soap and the aftershave.
TheHonestjbone you know I’ve been wanting to try a bay rum scent, I was going to start with the pinaud aftershave bay rum or maybe St. John’s. So that definitely sounds interesting, are they good for the summer ?
Hi Kelan, 1881 is one of THE 90s classics along with Zino and Fahrenheit. It used to be a very strong performing scent back then. When I sprayed 2 sprays on my neck, I was frightened to annoy other people, and it last all day! As you know, with most classics I don‘t agree when people beef about reformulations and watering down etc., but unfortunately with 1881 its true, its watered down to hell, reformulated not as much, but its a shadow of its vintage version. 🤬 Its dirt cheap (20 bucks for 100 ml) and they still have the after shave and deo stick, but I would readily pay more for better performance. 🙄 Great video as always, but again, too short for my taste. 😜 Take care bro, best regards, Dan.
I could only imagine the older version, at first impression I thought this would be very strong but as I wore it I realized it faded quickly on me, love the scent though. So you prefer the longer videos ? I’ve noticed I’ve received more interaction with viewers when the videos are not as long so I have been seeing how it’s going making them around 5:30-6 mins since I have a tendency to go on and on 😂😂🤷🏻♂️. Thank you as always for the support my man!
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Either is ok for me, longer or more often, haha! ;-D The performance is raelly a shame. I shower in it and when I arrive at work I smell already almost nothing! :-(
Don Dan lol I have been putting out videos more often at least, and yes my ride to work is about 30 mins and it’s projection stage is essentially gone before the rides over 😂😂
need a edp version , had it 1990.91, im 50yr old wish i had my old one had it for years as you didnt need much on, got new one last week for £18 so carnt moen at performance tbh bottle nice aswell
If I could only have one fragrance for the rest of my life, it would be Cerruti 1881 pour homme...love the smell of the coty made version, but the old formula last definitely longer, does smell a bit different too...not necessarily better to me, but different.
The aftershave I have is an older formula but not the edt and they smell pretty much the same if not exactly the same, performance is not that big of a deal with this one, it smells so clean I love it too! Thank you for watching and commenting as always Ron
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I have only edt's..coty (newest), unilever and parfums int. (I assume oldest)...the coty is noticeable lighter and less mossy. Haven't tried the E.Arden/newest version.
The scent is really good I love the green and citrus notes, I just wished it performed better, I’ll just have to apply a lot and keep applying lol. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Had a squirt of this today as a demo as I'm looking for an old style scent that doesn't dry down to the same generic marshmallow sweetness that most of the modern scents do. Initially I thought it was harsh - like Aramis. It dried down to a much more subtle spicy scent and I got quite a bit of longevity. Perhaps your skin chemistry doesn't suit it? I know that if I wear anything too musky it goes towards BO pretty quickly, so I have to err on the side of "fresh" as opposed to "warm". I think I'll be treating myself to a bottle of this later in the week.
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I also had a spray of Cacharel Pout Homme which I love. It was a bit weird initially. It had an almost ester tone like when perfume has gone bad, but when it settled down it was really good, albeit a skin proximity scent. There's something dry about it that reminds me of behind my dog Jen's ears.
1881 has been on my radar for years after I tried it briefly in a store way back, totally forgot how it smells. Have Eau de Rochas which may be similar, will check it out again though. 👍🏻
i did the same for this one for a long time i just passed on it but i am so happy i have it, smells so fresh and green masculine scent absolutely worth having. I reviewed JOOP a while back so you can find the video, but want to redo my old reviews soon
I have Boucheron Pour Homme which the reviewers on Fragrantica say are very similar. I have almost purchased this several times. If it smells like Boucheron ph, it must be damned good.
Snortch Gortch I feel like I have smelled that one in stores and I don’t remember the smell exactly but I feel like I would have made the connection. I hear Lauder by Este Lauder is similar as well. For the price though this one is worth checking out
