- Danish kutter Amy (her first name, I renamed her when I bought her) built in Hundested by Frimodt & Nielsen from Lynaes 1943 with an 1969 Hundested 2 cyl 150 hp ( hot bulb) engine.
It's her third engine, the first one was 1 cyl 77 hp Hundested and then a Tuxham 2 cyl / 100 hp
This one was from the beginning 2 cyl 110hp then upgraded to 138 hp and now 150 hp.

Beautiful Ship and Engine. I have a 1 Cylinder 45 HP Hundested engine in my boat (Kutter) She has still not been started under my wing but i have high hopes, can´t kill these engines if properly oiled. :) Thanks for sharing.
Какое красивое место! Как я мечтаю побывать у Вас!
Nice old boat!
It would be fun to see starting up rigmarole again.... FlyWheel to TopDeadCentre mark, prime fuelpump... handle somewhere in the bilge! Check air pressure, light Pyrocartridge, stinks of sulphur (and makes the heart sing in anticipation) stick it into the cylinderhead-- count to 20 while opening the wheel on the airstart handle. Push handle in and thump thump thump!
Brings it all back.flywheel picking up mix of oil/ bilge water coz the bilge pump sucked air in the middle of the German Bight,
fed motor
Wow, they were still making hot bulb engines in the 60s? I thought these engines had died out after diesel engines became more common and practical.
Thanks.... yup...I ran aground in the channel between Esbjerg and Fanø in a good force 8 and a falling tide.. dropped sails and kicked the old beast into life and reversed off in less than 3 minutes..... big grin...yessss! Never let me down in 10 years..It was then replace by a subsequent owner with a push button Kelvin Hughes 6 cylinder and that was nothing but trouble...quite apart from the prop stern gear etc not being all that compatible..Another big grin..... Oh well...
Anna Lise looks like a nice little Fisk kutter!..you fish?? Then engine looks much loved too...
If Hundested made the last engine in 1994... Of what type was it? One of these engines would have been a dinosaur even at the dawn of the 1970s.
But... how many takers would there be if Hundested decided something to go with their nice propellers was a good idea. Especially something that will run on just about any light oil.
It's not running in reverse, just so ya know : )
CHOO UMPA CHOO UMPA CHOO UMPA CHOO UMPA CHOO UMPA!
I belive they made the last engine 1994
Indestructable, even when running in reverse...the engine , I mean! Gets a bit hot though! Motors all week on very little juice! @roaylbrainwave :you ever hear of the northsea or the waters off Iceland and greenland. Still home to a few of these pieces of kit (max rev 350rpm!) Warming up time is when you can take videos... when under way ya have better things to do!
@mundysfarm Check out the 110 hp in Anna Elise : )
I will post my starting procedure later, and after 40 years
of handling these beast I must say that this engine is very easy
compared to others I have layed my hands on ..........
It's bad luck to rename a ship.
@royalbrainwave :D You'r welcome to join me on a trip for a week or
so then we can talk over some pints............. Slainte
how much does this engine weight in pounds ?
They are very heavy.......just guessing 6000 lbs.
5400 kg
