The first video I watched from you was "How to dye your hair pastel lilac/ lavendar/ violet". What I find hilarous is that i feel like we went on the same 10 year growth together. I was also a punk emo kid gone pastel and now a plain jane with fun prints and pop of color. The most strange part of aaalll this and why I feel so connected to you is that I also have ADHD. I just got diagnosed last month LOL. When you start talking about and I kept getting Tikto videos about. It made me realize that I am not crazy, i just have ADHD. LOL anyway.... Love you so much ♥
I just clicked to hard on this notif! Not to be nerdy about it but I feel like we’ve grown up together. We’re the same age, have similar style and have gone through similar life situations. I remember being 16ish when I found your channel! Back in 2011ish… Loved seeing you grow through the years, you’ve always given me hope and inspiration I’m usually a silent watcher lol but I’m 27 now almost 28. I was SO very different 10 years ago. I find when you get to 25+ life becomes so much different! I don’t know how to explain it apart from being more frugal, logical, more carefree, looking after myself better. This time 10yrs ago I was wearing the upside down crosses too 😂 the the vertical striped leggings or blazers, red lippy, all I remember was gold chunky things, stripes and crucifixes 😂 wild times.. Oh and drinking apple sidekick at house parties (disgusting just thinking about it 😂 wtaf was I doing lmao I hardly drink nowadays! The hangovers are evil lol) …
But yeah I wear whatever I like nowadays a lot more neutral tones or black clothing and comfort is key!!! I could go on and on but yes, LOVE YOU! Keep on doing you 🥰🥰 you’re amazing girrrl!!! 😆❤ Girl power! 🫶

I've watched you from almost day one and totally feel that I've grown up with you. I remember watching you and just looking up to you and aspiring to be like you. I've always loved your style and let's be honest copied many outfits from you over the years, (and a tattoo or two 🙈) . I've laughed, cried and learned with you over the years. When I first started watching you I was at college doing make up artistry 😂 now I'm part of a leadership team in a nursery. Whenever I watch your videos my husband always says “are you watching melon lady” which makes me smile and takes me back.
I started following you when i was a tumblr teen about 8ish years ago and i can see that i've grown in such a similar way to you Helen! I'd be lying if i said there wasnt some influence from yourself in how ive evolved into an adult, in my opinion, i never watched you because you had the same style or the same music or was on tumblr etc, that was just a bonus! Fab video, very honest and that is needed. I agree with the friendship part, I have a very close small group of friends, who that's all I need. At the grand age of 42, I have most certainly changed for the better, not trying to please everyone anymore.

Watched you from the very start when I was 16/17 I think watching you and being entertained by your content for this long just shows how interesting and amazing you are as you capture people’s true self. I don’t know about anyone else but it’s nice to see someone who’s similar to me in some aspects and not caring about life too much. I found you through that skyrim video where you were at the mall, and I also think I discovered your style on tumblr- I loved your style and more your personality just made/ of course still makes me so happy! I think I must have been around 16-17 y.o back then. Now as 25 y.o, I still love your videos and they inspire me and motivate me so much!
My own growth has been very still, until about four years ago, where I started to take my health more seriously, since I always woke up and didn't have a goal or dream for myself. Then one day I had my biggest wakeup call I was so sick and sad of always starting over on educationes, and always failing the smallest tasks, and I knew that I needed to just go back and be more myself, not doing anything to please others dreams for what I should be and not be. Just listening to my own voice, and take an old dream of mine, and just work as hard as I can towards that dream which is taking an education that I have always dreamed about, but i just never felt smart enough; but I am doing it still and have never been more happy :-) -Also my diagnose I got this summer finally was and "end" of a era full of not knowing what was wrong with me. That was even a bigger bost in my will to just keep on going :-)

I think I followed you on tumblr first, The first photo I saw was a photo of you taking a mirror selfie where you were laying on the carpet holding a camera lol. Then I looked for pastel hair tutorials and saw you again on TH-cam and followed you and subscribed. If anything I feel we grew together because I am definitely not the same person I was then either, So definitely not a fraud, this is just how people grow. I guess what I've noticed most about your growth over the years is that you have matured a lot, but remained authentically yourself. My ten years has been 16-26 and it has been so tough, fun, scary and empowering. I’ve gone through some pretty awful and hard stuff but I kept pushing through it and I’m so proud of myself for where I am today. I’ve got a long way to go and I know it won’t always be easy but the things I’ve learnt in the last few years will help. My foundations are stronger now, I know what I want and I’m lucky to have incredible and loving people around me. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that the days will keep coming, so push through the hard ones, cherish the good ones and love the people you’ve got while you’ve got them❤

If my memory serves me, I have been around since your tumblr days! If not, damn near close enough. How I've changed it pretty big: met the love of my life, we got married, we've moved a couple of times and we have two wonderful little kiddos. Never thought this is where things would go, honestly thought my best friend and I were going to end up platonically married and still living in our home state. My style is has evolved so many times, and almost back to with it was in high school, but with better sewing skills aka, VERY eclectic. I've really enjoyed watching your videos, regardless of content because I felt like we were growing up in kind of similar ways, if that makes sense, especially with the "fuck it i'm gonna wear what I want" you're definitely one of the people that helped me with that, and I will always appreciate that. You seem like a really fun and sweet person and I'm happy to watch your videos for as long as you make them.
Who I am now compared to who I was when I first started watching you is also very different, and it’s such a special thing that you’ve been an inspiration for all these different stages of my life. Even if my likes / dislikes are slightly different to you (which is not very often 😂) the fact you are so authentically you has always been inspiring for me. Genuinely been such a comfort for my low moments too. Even being a videographer now is inspired by your travel vlogs back in 2016! I’ve been watching you since the beginning, and it is SO nice to have ‘grown up’ with you. You’re the reason why I came out of my shell being more open with grungy/‘alternative’ (lol) style, and it’s why I now feel *so* confident with it. Definitely think that the era and time has changed and grown within itself and if you haven't had grown I don't know if all of this as far as the fans that you had would be here it would probably be a different fan group so I'm so glad there's people like myself who have been here 10 plus years to be able to look into your style and love it and learn and yet connect with you because of your honesty and vulnerability with me particularly because we have the same thinkings a lot of the time and more divergencies and because of that I think you thank you for making me feel normal and all of these ages.

I have definitely changed my hair was chemically relaxed, make was terrible , I had no signature style and people pleaser. Now especially my mum’s death and lockdown I definitely change for the better. At 50 plus I have finally found my style and personality 😊 My style definitely 1970s i wear things I like and not what is in fashion. My periods have already been bad. What I has improved it prior to menopause is to eat no chocolate 2 weeks before. Eat lots of greens and salad and don’t eat dairy. This made the periods easier. You are size 14 which the best size because you don’t look an ironing board. You always look fabulous Helen. Buying too much, something I have stopped now to make more space. Now shopping from my wardrobe.
I jumped on the melon lady train about a year into your TH-cam because we had similar style but I stayed for your amazing personality

In a way, I feel like you've always been "authentically yourself" Helen. Especially since you seem to have been searching for your identity online, struggled with it since you have an audience and have looked introspectively and tried to be aware of it. The struggle of being yourself I think is the actual authentic thing to do. That seems to be part of who you are, explorative, sometimes influenced, just like a lot of people would be in your position (online persona), but also outside of that.
To me, authenticity is about self exploration, but that never comes easy. It can be a struggle and I think, although I don't wish for others to struggle, that makes it that much more relatable. You setting boundaries is growth. But also, trying to figure that out and seeing that you have maybe overstepped your own boundaries (or others have) seems very authentic to me.
Anyways, I guess I just wanted to say that as a viewer looking back 10 years I feel like all those "Helens" are you, but you have been growing in choosing which parts of yourself you want to grow and nourish and which parts may have not been very supportive of your wellbeing. These reflections make me feel pretty proud of you and I hope they make you feel proud too!

Helen, I've been with you since the start of Helen Melon Lady. I used your video to get lilac hair. My biggest change is my confidence in myself, and I have a sense of self. I was going through so much for so long it's only now in healing do I see how empty I was. And how painfully obvious it was; I couldn't hide anything lol.

As for how my life has changed, I'm a lot more internal now, I am the intro/extro ADHDer as well, who has the 'big personality' so to speak. As I'm nearing my 30s, im needing more time to myself to recover the social juice, what doesn't help is my chronic health issues making me tired all the time. I'm a lot less tolerant of fake friends, ableists who shat on my disabilities and gaslit me into believing they were the 'reasonable' ones when in reality they were bullying me. My style is a lot lazier, my hair colour choices are either muted or my natural hair colour as it's easier to maintain.
It's been all about what makes my life easier, and more comfortable. I won't do shit that hurts me so much it ain't worth the result.
Loved you since the purple hair days - even dyed mine using the same products (didn't ever go as well as yours though 🤣)

There's a physician I follow the work of called Gábor Máté, who I think would make the connection the other way round. I think his work's super interesting and eye opening. Random, you can mix gold and silver and it look awesome, I try and something looks off 🤣😂 I love your hair, i want hair like that but i have naturally straight hair so dont think it would look right on me. I also cba curl my hair, it's easy, sometimes I dont need brush it, easy peasy. I'm not a girly girl like with make up and doing hair and I dont own much pink. Sometimes I wish I was though. Dont know I just feel a bit weird or off all the time.
