I feel exactly the same about finding new friends! I'm only 23 and so many of my friends are in long term relationships, it's hard not to feel left behind. 2023 is for new people and new experiences :)
Same here!! I am in a relationship but I want friendships out of this otherwise I just feel burnt out haha I want some girlies to go on trips with go out for dinners with etc but just have no one around me who wants to do that because they all have their own families etc
I’m 23 as well and I need friends in general LOL! I’ve been in a relationship for 4 years and I have a 2 year old so it has been hard
I'm 25 and my friends are also in long-term relationships, but this year (two weeks ago) I went on a surf trip to: 1. Start doing more stuff on my own and 2. Meet new people! And it worked! It's never too late.
Looove your D&D club! Started a weekly D&D club with my friends just before Christmas and it’s been so much fun. None of us had a clue how to do anything but found a mutual friend whose a great dungeon master to teach us the ways. Highly recommend finding someone to be your dungeon master who knows the ropes because it makes it so much easier to pick up and makes the stories and game play so much more exciting!
Helen! Glad you're doing well. I understand completely about friendships evolving and lives just shifting. I'm not married and don't have kids and sometimes I find it challenging to relate to old friends whose lives have shifted in a different direction. I still love those friends, but I know what you mean about finding new friends. You're not booting out the old ones, you're just expanding. I'm so glad to hear about your travel plans. I'm not in Nashville, but if you find yourself in Louisville, KY again, I'd love to kick it! I still can't believe we were both at Bourbon and Beyond and I didn't see you. >.
With D&D, I'd fully recommend having a DM that knows a lot and can teach others 😂 there's so much to consider and so many ways to play - e.g. prioritising certain aspects to make it more fun, how much do you prioritise sandbox over storyline, etc.
A couple of tips:
- Start with lvl 3 characters, it's more fun
- Try out a well-known pre-gen campaign from online
- Only bother with voices and role-playing if you're comfortable, the way you play your character is perfect for you
- Have discourse about what you all want to achieve from playing! Some people might live the rules and limitations, and some people might want to just break into a magical pet shop and free all the mini dragons...
I feel the same about making new friends! I'm 30 and don't have a social life! I find it hard putting myself out there and making friends and don't know how to go about it 😂

Sitting here in my jammies working from home, but watching this video alongside work LOL. I promise I'll get dressed when it finishes. I've really been enjoying your vlogs and feel like we are very similar in how we think so I can relate to alot of what you speak about. I recently began to live solo after a housemate moved out, I'm almost 30 and I'd love if you were able to make a video or maybe talk about living alone in a video and some things that maybe help you? I think I'm mostly struggling with feeling a bit lonely and unmotivated and feeling pressure from other people almost making me feel ODD for living on my own, when i feel like it's empowering if anything? 🥰
I think travel videos where you meet/interview people on your travels would be amazing. Whether it be based around music or what that areas famous for, food etc. You bring such a comfortable warmth to everything you do, I think you'd find some treasures.
Goals I’ve made myself this year is to: try and say yes more and not go because of my anxiety. Find a new job that I’m actually happy with ideally part time due to stress. Drive more to help my driving anxiety. Research finally moving out of my parents house maybe coz I’m happy with my parents lol love you Helen x
I would recommend the podcast Dungeons & Daddies if you like the idea of "custom game play" lol. Aslo, as a beginner to d&d, the best thing for me was having an experienced player in my group who was kind and patient and didn't mind my questions. There are also some cool companion apps for whatever class you are. 💕
We are a UK based D&D group who started as total beginners! We started with The Lost Mine of Phandelver Starter Set and just learned as we went along! D&D is super fun and you’ll love it! I’m a long time D&D player, it gets easier! But the essentials kit is so much easier to start with than the Starter kit ☺️

Hey Helen! My fiance is a big fan, and I think you're awesome, I happen to be Norwich based and have about... 20 years experience of d&d, and am very used to introducing new people to the hobby!
Rule #1, if everyone is having fun, you're doing it right, even if it's different to how other people play!
Omi God spyro, that takes me back to my childhood with a house full of my 4 brothers and 2 sisters, 2 dogs and a lot of Guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters at random times. There was also 2 kittens at one point 🤣 I'd go back in a heartbeat, before everything was complicated and people didn't mess me up and use me then drop me. Didn't have a good time in high school to say the least, been messed up since, that was 4 or 5 years ago.

Don't be afraid to go to things alone! If you wait for other people you'll miss out. Some of my best trips have been solo, it's not selfish. Learning to be comfortable in your own company is invaluable.
I call instructions, "destructions" because whenever I try to follow them, I do things wrong and then it gets thrown across the room. 🤦I just go for it and to hell with the consequences😂 love ya x
Me and my partner are feeling exactly the same about finding new friends with new hobbies/ interests and life goals as us. Also love that you're joining the D&D world. I'm a D&D Master, I personally prefer being a master compared to being a player myself. Trick is to not take it too seriously. Sounds like you've got that figured out though as chainmail Barbie sounds cool 😂 x
I swear you’re my English soul sister. No kiddos, love Spyro and Elder Scrolls, your love of sausage dogs, I could go on. The Willow show was alright, of course they couldn’t bring the 80’s magic to life again, but it’s good as it’s own thing.
Your make up is stunning. And that make new friends, I want to, I suffer from bad social anxiety, feels like I'm paralysed to even move sometimes in public, I shake, my friends have moved on with their lives and I really want to be able do stuff on my own but I need someone help me there but i cant meet anyone to help me get there. Anyway rant over, I love your videos, the past few weeks I hvnt missed any, I can relate to a lot of what you say and you have an awesome sense of style. 😊

youtube is definitely a good place to learn more about the game. and a lot of groups stream their games on twitch, which is a good way to get comfy with how it works. 😊
I love dnd, I’m newer to it and a few of my friends and I play about 2 times a month! It’s so much fun. Love watching your videos, so happy to hear your excitement for the new year! I’m speaking good things into existence for this year! It will happen.

@@helenanderz I absolutely love it, I think that playing with the rich group is important and will really play into how fun it is, but it’s definitely a learning curve, I just use my book when I play! Also the dnd website has a more character sheets and information. (Buying fun dice is also fun!)
Started playing DND over lockdown and now I have three characters in rotation and I love everything about the game!!
GIRL I fucking love D&D it’s so fun! It’s deffo a learn as you go thing because there are so many rules it’s information overload. I’d recommend watching some of the PAX penny arcade games online for a super funny and entertaining example of games
love playing spryo!! he's one of my favorite characters~I started playing dnd on& off 3 years ago and can confirm I'm still a newbie! no worries there. if ya ever decided to come to austin,tx leme know! you'd fit in well here.
The great thing about DnD is you can be as strict or as relaxed as you like with the rules. You don't have to follow the food/drink/spend rules if you don't want to :)
Also, as a 31 year old woman, I feel you about not being married or have kids. I have a partner but we do have our own friends and do things apart from each other, it works for us :)

My little dog (profile pic) does to me just as you describe your doggies do to you - being able to feel their little eyes looking up at you while you sleep! She is so spoiled so I end up just helping her up onto my bed eventually...

I have the exact same oodie thing in the same colour and I will literally get dressed and functioning for the day and then immediately put that over the top because it is soooo warm!!
A one shots a good idea to get into the dnd mindset without needing to know the technical stuff. I don't like playing dnd, I get overwhelmed by how much you need to know - but one shots are really fun and more about the story. Also, If you like podcasts listen to dungeons and daddies - again not too technical but very funny and a good example of putting a spin on dnd! Enjoy x

I feel the same about friends but ive ended up isolated because of previous poor mental health and anxiety. I've got lots of desire for travel and more social but how do adults even make new friends 😮💨🤯
Your videos motivates me to work out. But at the same time, it makes me really really hella hungry in the process 😅 so then I get into a pickle and want to workout the food and then I think about I’m in a pickle.. so the I think about pickles and different kind of pickled foods and then I get hungry again 😅😂😭

Beautiful I think it should be acceptable that you can turn comments off on videos like that one, where you announce the situation. Also taking a break after announcing the situation.
People need to be understanding that you are human. Some people are so nasty and they put their nose where is not needed.
I 100% get the wanting to make new friends thing. I am married but have chosen not to have children. I love my friends but obviously their schedules are allot different from mine. I don’t mind at all and am happy to see them when they can. I also just have allot of different interests than my friends. I don’t drink and it seems allot of adult activities revolve around alcohol. I just want people to go to drag shows and plant shopping with.
All of this is me too.. apart from drag shows, never been to one and plant shopping because I'm terrible at looking after them! X
Dnd beyond is a good place to start for learning dnd helps with character development and has some free quests you can try and don't have to play online just read the gameplay

5htp are amazing but I always take them before bed. They send me off into the most amazing sleep- I was recommended them by a friend when I was suffering sleep paralysis and the stopped it completely 😊

I am an artist among nerds for more than 10 years now and have played many a DND game- terribly.
Your style of learning is kinesthetic- basically repetition. Im the same, I have NO patience for reading and instructions!! Its defo an ADHD thing!
DnD with props is warhammer. Hqve you heard of it!? You get tiny figures you paint and build armies of elves ect. That way. I prefer your spin on it though!!

Don't eat perinase if you're on a calorie deficit I was killing the gym and wasn't loosing weight then I looked at the calories and it made sence jus a fyi don't listen to me if you don't wanna 😂😂😂😂
