- Hello my beautiful people. In today’s video I am going to talk to you about kiwano, it’s health benefits and how to eat it. This kiwano is native to Africa and is known as African horned cucumber , Magaka or jelly melon.

Used to eat these when we were herding cattle in the rural district. Some were quite sour known as “magaka enyoka” loosely translated “snakes cucumbers” 😂

Ive been growing these for a few years now. The very young fruits are great for making lacto fermented pickles. Cut into spears, add spices, fill with water, 3.5 percent salt by total weight and ferment for a week.

Can we eat the skin?
Yes the skin can be eaten as well. But it's nice when they are still young and green because they are soft and you can chew easily compared to when they are ripe they become tough though they test good.
