    Today we tested the new Osram CBN (6200K) D2S bulb on a G5-BRT Bi-Xenon Projector. We tested it against the XNL (4200K) , CBI (6000K) , and CBB (7000K) ; allowing the bulb to fully stabilize performance at the ~45 second mark. With the projector hard mounted to the table, lux meter mounted to the wall, we powered each bulb with an OEM 35W ballast to see the final lux readings. The results of the test surprised us a bit too as we were hoping to see a notable boost in performance when comparing CBN to CBI, but overall it appears to perform very similarly. The good news is that it is a touch cooler, but 200K shift in color is not extremely noticeable. We don't have an integrated sphere to test the bulb's sheer performance, but perhaps the results would be different. Our test was done in real time, in one take. Please do not compare this test any other test as a comparison would not be valid. Let us know your thoughts!
    Lux results:
    XNL - 527 Lux
    CBI - 504 Lux
    CBN - 496 Lux
    CBB - 447

    Awesome review! I picked these to replace the OEM bulbs in my Volvo V60 and I appreciate you not price gouging like another lighting conglomerate, who I won't mention. haha. They are selling the same product for just about $100 more. Ridiculous. You just earned a new customer, thank you!

    I still remember when the 1st Gen CBIs came out, they were the best HID bulbs to ever hit the market back then. I'm still running CBIs in my setups. I might grab me the 2nd gen CBIs. I won't *EVER* use anything but osram.
    I don't know where you get people weren't satisfied with the CBI bulb, but everyone loved them and I never seen any complaints about them

    Wow, I love my CBB's BUT i can see how they are not the best in output. Maybe CBN's might be a nice upgrade in performance but minimal in color comparison to the CBB's.... ugh

    I love the 66240 CBIs. I had these in my 2005 Acura TL with OEM D2S projectors and now in my 2019 Civic Si w/ G5R D2S projectors!
    From the looks of your test setup, the CBI and CBN are like 95% identical. I took screenshots and couldn't even tell the difference!
    Were all of these bulbs brand new out of the box? Or did they have some break-in time? I guess the color could shift differently between the 2 after some regular usage.

    • @LightwerkzGlobal
      @LightwerkzGlobal  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we use brand new bulbs for these tests. I have heard it many times that the Osram's will take some break in hours to reach their true color temp and intensity levels.

    Are you able to do a video comparing the Philips WhiteVision Gen 2 vs the CBN?

    • @LightwerkzGlobal

      Perhaps in the future. Philips WhiteVision is a great bulb. True white color. Osram doesnt really have anything like that. With that being said its not very popular. Xtremevision seems to be the popular choice for Philips.

    Każdy myśli, że weźmie miernik i zmierzy. Co w tym trudnego?
    Miernikiem trzeba umieć się posługiwać, wiedzieć co się mierzy i najważniejsze to trzeba sie zapoznać z instrukcja i specyfikacją miernika. Ten miernik mierzy niepoprawnie poniżej 550nm a więc im bardziej niebieskie światło tym mniejszy wynik zobaczymy na wyświetlaczu. Praktycznie można nim porównywać max barwę ~5000K.

      Correct, CBB is not used on Europe for example. In USA, people run them without any consequences. Osram rates them for off road use only.

    • @LightwerkzGlobal

      @@LightwerkzGlobal I had the D1S 66144 CBI before and replaced it with the next gen, the color was a perfect cool white with little blueish tone, the next gen supposed to be up to 6200k, from my opinion it's more like a 5000k, would it become more white after more hours of use ?

    • @LightwerkzGlobal
      @LightwerkzGlobal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wiseguy0103 The bulb you removed was broken in and probably had a few years of use. When the bulb ages, it changes color. This also dims the output. The new bulbs may be warm when they are new, but they will break in to a nice white color.
