I had a problem with my current car immediately after purchase as it appeared the workshop prep had not been done at all ( Friday afternoon job ), the sales manager jumped into action, wanted a list of the issues & rough cost to rectify and because they were 70 miles away, just sent me the money to fix them, plus extra for the inconvenience.
It wasn't like they knocked me down on the px either because they gave me 12% more than anyone else was offering, so I would happily buy from them again even though it went a bit wrong, because there was a sense of fairness.

A lot of people are not interested in the mechanical side of cars or bother to do some research to know which cars to avoid. The first the unfortunate owner finds out about a known problem, is when the fault occurs! This is especially for 'wet belts'. There are people driving around their Ecoboost or Puretech engined cars totally unaware of could happen! The Nissan CVT is known to be have problems, and I think the warranty company is treating it as the 'whole', and not a particular part that hardly fails much.

Great get out clause, applies to nearly every car, vws burning oil, corsa chains, insignia oil pick ups, ecoboost, puretech, absolutely every make has a know fault these days, I've not done 3rd party warranties for years, all it does is cause bad feeling when they don't pay up and you end up paying, I just sort it if someone comes back, just doing an injector now, 220 for injector and that will sort it. If that had gone to another garage they'd have been quoting 4 new injectors, say 1600 all in, warranty wouldn't pay and I'd be on the hook, instead I get the car back in and sort it.

Not a fan of the puretech in any form my youngest bought against my advice a 308 nice gt spec good price but at pick up i finally got to inspect the service history and i didnt like the look of the cam belt they wouldnt do it for him as said not enough profit in the deal after the prep it had the sump off recall why they didnt pick up on the poor cam belt condition is beyond me.
Son still wanted the car so took it got s new cam belt fitted at £500 plus parts sump off again as garage wanted to be sure the oil pick up was clear as the cam belt was shot.
The cars been ok a leaking shock done for the next mot and the fuel pipe to the pump on top of the engine came adrift resulting in a breakdown but s relatively quick fix part was pricy but modern cars tend to have pricy parts.
Roll on a couple of months the cars broken down with a misfire not electrical issue ruled out swapped injectors about advice given enfgine swsp its probably a piston ring gone just hope thst warranty we got with the car is worth the paper its written on, if its a new motor required then no foubt there will be a payment to be made on s betterment basis ie new engine in old car we shall see i have an idea its not worth doing on a £5-6k car.
So for us no more puretech more goes wrong than just cam belts.
