Those are all great ideas! The sleeping bag comment from Matt is a really good mention. There is no replacement for a really good bag! I used to rotate between a summer quilt and a winter bag, depending on the season. That can get you in trouble if you time it wrong! Now I just carry a 0deg bag all year. One bag, that’s it. All you’ll ever need. Great point!
On the fly rod thing. I have a lot of very good rods. I would invest in a great line and that will make many ok rods cast great. Especially if you are casting short distances. Best advice is get what you can afford and enjoy!
That's a great point. I just upgraded my brookie rod with some Rio Creek Line. That stuff is unbelievable on a short rod that's mostly used on tiny trout streams.
Ha! I agree it looks like they need a wood stove. I travel a lot in northern Michigan and always have a sleeping bag and gear for getting out of snow. Love the tool bag for those and have 3 gadget bags for miscellaneous stuff. Love your gear guys. Keep making good stuff. Just got your got to go bag. Hopefully it arrives soon!
Oh, and the new space! Digging it! Looks like a nice little cozy spot, but apparently it’s lacking a wood burning stove based on all the layers you guys had on 😂
Haha. It has heat, but since we're only recording up there at the moment it was set a little low. We're all ready for this freeze to get out of Virginia.
Awesome points- and I think more folks need to recognize these points. If folks would try what they've got, it can help paint a more realistic picture of what they need/ how far they can go with not only the gear, but also their skill set. That being said- I don't mind when folks buy the best equipment and sell it for a steep discount after six months because it doesn't do what they needed it to do. Regarding the new space- congratulations on the upgrade! Now we've got a window outside to give context of the season. Maybe an upgraded microphone for Logan/ guests in the future? Keep the camp chairs for sure though!
That's one of the first questions that I ask my customers....do you have any gear and if so, what do you have (fridge, stove, etc)? Then we work around that to design a drawer system to fit those items. I also recommend that people be realistic with their build goals with regards to the size of their rig. The rear storage area of every rig is a different size and I think sometimes people get caught up seeing something on TH-cam that fit in the back of an 80 Series Land Cruiser and then try to put the same thing in the back of an FJ...it's a night and day size difference between the two. With that said, if anyone has any storage related questions, feel free to comment here or message me directly. :)

For sure. You can always sleep with it open, just across your legs, etc. A quality bag will last for decades if you take care of it.

Hopefully i can get down there soon. Good stuff guys and thanks. Keep having fun
Yeah, just let us know. We've got a campsite 100 yards from the studio.

Yeah, it's been real chilly by Virginia standards. Thanks for the support. The GTG Bag will go out soon.

Very well said. I totally agree on picking up good gear used.
And thanks! We're getting some upgrades planned out for the studio.

That's a great approach, and we can vouch for your builds. They are super clean and incredibly functional.
Build the rig for the season you are going to start to camp in and not cover all of them out of the gate
Great point!
