We often catch more fish using short kiddies type rods than when we go heavier so scratching can be great fun and everyone can partake and have success even if they are not experienced anglers. Thanks for making our Tuesday nights interesting 👍
Scratching is so much fun, sometimes you have to move a lot but it is always worth it. I'm catching so much more fish at the moment using lighter tackle.
Thank you again. I've learned quite a lot out of this episode. Is it possible for the special that you had on this weekend, will there be another one like this towards the end of the month.
I prefer a small hook most of the time like a 4-6 j-hook and I've caught up to keeper shad, grunters and steenies with a 0.5mm hook trace to a swivel and a egg sinker sliding on my mainline. But in rocks i use a thick line between 2 swivels with a small swivel and thin line for my sinker to slide on and my .5mm hook trace on the bottom swivel. Has served me well and basically catch anything like that with the bite trace being thick enough to withstand some teeth but thin enough to move around and not look strange. Is a bit of a faf with the extra swivels and so on and a thin sinker line is crucial, but i tie a few traces and put them in small ziplocks beforehand and its 2 min and you're ready to go. Prawns, white mussel and pillies/chub makrel is my go to baits
Awesome comment! You’re like us and prepared, because it’s a schlep to get to your destination and have to tie traces… especially after a couple snap ups!
Thanks so much guys. Very much appreciated. You talk a lot about the kids. Well, us older Ballies take our scratching very very seriously in KZN. Gone are the heavy tackle days due to old rugby injuries coming home to bite. And bigger fish do surprise us from time to time. I've landed a few 5kg "Brusher" on a 1/0 circle hook and Bronze Bream bait. That puts lead in your pencil I can tell you 😂. And I agree that 12ft Bluefish Special is just the perfect rod for the job. I'm just struggling to decide on a light reel that will really honour it.
Hit the nail right on the head buddy. Light strong affordable reels for scratching is a big gap in the MARKET. Okuma had the Cedros but for some strange reason Sensational has taken it off the range. I have a 4000 on a 10ft Assassin Sabre and it is fantastic. Oh well!
Don't know if you will see this Don and Dean? My Cedros 5000 arrived from Bilimoria this morning. Fantastic service and a fantastic price. The balance and weight on my Assassin Bluefish 12ft is perfect for my application. First time Bilimoria customer. Very happy scratcher. Your vids work!

Very informative. Ordered 2 reels from Bilimoria because of Tackle Tuesdays. Keep it up, guys "THE DON" 😂😂😂

Thanks for the comment.
If budget allows, go for the Saragosa- it’s a brilliant reel. Or the Tesoro is another amazing option🔥
Must say the Okuma Salina 6000 looks to be a good option for the price. Balance is beautiful on 12ft Bluefish. Not crazy about the bling though.
With you, a light strong reel seems to be a gap in the market, the daiwa bg mq fit the bill but just dont come cheap

Rock hopping can be good to put a fish in the pan...
100% correct bud. If it’s quiet, move and change it up.
Don please show us the fish that you catch.
😩😀🫣😎
The 12ft bluefish is my favorite rod ive ever owned, that thing is deadly for the cintsa gullies😮💨
It’s a deadly weapon that rod🤣
stop talking over each other !!!
We will try harder🙈😢
That will be an improvement, ... 🙂
I think the ‘talking over’ adds to the info they provide. It’s not hindered by waiting around for the other to finish.
