My 1960 Vauxhall PA Cresta

Back in 2002 I made this iMovie video of my old Vauxhall PA Cresta that I had owned for over 18 years. Perhaps inevitably I added The Specials' 'Ghost Town' as the background music, inspired by the PA that was in that song's video. (As I no longer have the raw files, I am not able to remove the music separately.)
The car itself was rotten everywhere (typical of PAs) when I first bought it with my best mate back in 1983, most of it covered up by zinc plate, pop rivets and filler. Together we welded it up and I then bought it outright and set about making it look better. It was resprayed, I collected new or good used chrome wherever I could find it and we had great fun going to shows and on trips out in it.
While 2826 AD was never going to be mint with the amount of welding it needed, we managed to get it very presentable. As testament to their rotbox reputation, it actually required yet another floor welding in it later on in my ownership.
I decided to sell it in 2002 after I realised I had only done 20 miles since the previous MOT and pressures of mortgages and family meant I couldn't really justifying spending money on the other minor jobs that needed doing.
I still love the PA Cresta and consider it the ultimate of British Americana; it had that bit more style than its Mark II Zodiac rival and was quieter and more economical. I still love a car with a bench front seat and 'three on the tree'.
I believe this car is still around but needing work, sadly their current values mean that I doubt I will own another one.
