  • With this POV Driving Video I take YOU behind the wheel of the 1960 Vauxhall Cresta 3.3 Litre - More details on the car below. #RetroClassicCar #Vauxhall
    1960 Vauxhall Cresta 3.3 Litre - 41,000 miles from new and one of only a handful left. Restored and sympathetic upgrades just recently completed making this not only rare but a uniquely usable classic and a beautiful one to drive.
    The body has been prepared and re-metaled as required to super standard by a well-respected Bristol company and finished in its original Sea Foam Grey over Burgundy. All glass, chrome and fittings are original and the front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed.
    The engine has been replaced with the (same series) larger and smoother 3.3 litre engine and a new clutch and slave cylinder installed. The column change, gearbox, suspension all overhauled and serviced and a new 4-wheel disc brake system installed with the electrical system mostly replaced.
    The Ox Blood leather seats are original and have been painstakingly brought back to life and look superb. Fitted with new carpets in a deep Burgundy twist to match the original as much as possible.
    This exceptional classic Cresta is just a joy to behold and a total joy to drive and offers a completely unique opportunity to own a wonderful part of Vauxhall history.

    I remember my dad getting a brand new one back in 1960 and he collected me from school in it when I was six years old. (That was pretty special as we all used to walk home in those days). Happy memories ❤️❤️

    Vauxhall Cresta is one of the best designed and best looking British cars ever, and that's from an Aussie, I remember these when I was a kid in primary school, loved them then and still do......

    Engine seems very quiet and smooth. It’s impressive even by today’s standards.

    Always driven Vauxhall's love the fact you can carry 6 people in a Cresta. Great to see roads with so little traffic must have been early morning.

    Love this car. I had an original 1960 version with the "3 on a tree" gearbox but with electric overdrive on 2nd and 3rd. Thus making it a 5 speed gearbox. The 3.3 litre is from the PC Cresta, which my Dad had in 1966. I loved this car, which I bought in 1978. Unfourtunately it went that way of Vauxhals from this era and rusted away from underneath even though the bodyywork externally was pristine and jet back.... I miss this damn car and still have the steering wheel and number plates in the left.And it is the 1960 version with the indicators on the rear wings, before they did away with them in 1961 and incorporated them into the rear lights.

    They used one in the Brit Movie ‘Brighton’ which brought me here. Some commentary would have been useful? Seems to drive smooth. The engine was pristine!

    Great video chaps. It brought tears, & the 3.3 engine is exactly what these cars needed. A T B MIKE.

    My dad had a black one in the 60's... I wish I still had it, he also had a 2 tone estate at the end of the 60's

    I'll say this for the Cresta, at least the interior of the car is attractive. I also love the two-tone colour combination.

    Interesting and lovely. Did they put the 3.3 in the PA or is that a mod?

    Dad had a Cresta 1966/7 , not sure which model. It had a lot of filler in it lol. Looked good though!

    Unless it's been fitted with a later Ventura engine, they were 2.2 or 2.6 litres. :) Lovely car though.

      Thank you! Absolutely, this example had been replaced with the (same series) larger and smoother 3.3 litre engine and a new OE clutch and slave cylinder installed

      @@RetroClassicCar Or PC Cresta Engine that my dad had, prior to Ventura, or maybe it was the Viscout PC engine with Powerglide transmission?

    What kind of disc brakes did u get to fit the cresta pa as my dad has one as well and trying to change from drums to discs. If you have any suggestions would be really appreciated

    • @Quadlaners
      @Quadlaners 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      trent henderson I think the discs calipers etc would be from a cresta PB but I also think someone mention that the original wheels may not fit over caliper not saying I am correct, just thought I read that somewhere

    • @Quadlaners
      @Quadlaners 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edit😀 penny drop, pretty sure you have to use the PB wheels as well, as these where 5 stud, PC cresta may be the same

    • @kar2ouche
      @kar2ouche ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha Ha I get why you need that. I was late for work one morning and was flying down the M6 in my 2.3 PA Cresta (70 mph + well plus). I then hit the brakes (drum all round) and experienced "brake fade" for the first time!.

    Lovely - rockin' and rollin' a bit! 15 mpg? (my 2.6 PB used to do 17!)

    • @mikec3698
      @mikec3698 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony. Something drastically wrong there somewhere. My 3 2.2 PA"s with overdrive, regularly returned 24 to 26 M P G, & I didn"t particularly hang about either. Those were the days, proper motor cars, which you could repair on the side of the road. A T B Mike.

    • @kar2ouche
      @kar2ouche ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikec3698 Agreed. My '60 PA with overdrive used to do about 25 mpg. Fords were the worst back then I had a V4 Corsair and a V6 Zephyr Mk 3. They were shocking. About 18 to 21 Mpg!
