It’s 100% interference. It’s only at specific locations in my town. I can almost exactly tell a passenger when it will disconnect.

I'm finding if my USB cable that is plugged into the dash moves up or down slightly it disconnects from Android Auto. I am using a good ANKER USB cable. My Camry is a 2020. I guess
over the years the socket has gotten lose. There are 2 pieces of bent metal that press against the Male connector. Bending those slightly towards the center should make a tighter
fit. I'm leaning towards that as a possible solution.

I’m starting to think it has something to do with the infrastructure for Smart Meters. I know the locations it happens in for me, none of them are near an airport, but it’s always near a tower of some sort. What’s interesting is you don’t need a cellular connection for wireless CarPlay to work, so it’s something interfering with the WiFi connection between the phone and the radio

@@JohnnyKReviews im actually filling a report with the FCC after thinking about it. I drive a lot, and have a pinpoint on several areas it happens in. I know they have rules that say some devices must accept interference but not create it, and that some devices can create interference for other devices. Clearly this is an issue that other people experience, so maybe if enough people bug them about it, a solution can be found.

Same exact problem. New Kenwood Excelon Head Unit, disconnects at certain points on my commute, But when I am on in my other rig with an older Clarion head unit from 2015 it connects a plays via bluetooth with NO ISSUES. It does not use car play though. Pretty upsetting that an expensive top of the line unit has crappy connectivity and my budget Clarion from 2015 has zero issues. Or am I missing something?

My connection is just loose. I have a wired connection to Android Auto/Apple Car Play, but I would love to know how to fix that. I'm able to connect my phone via Bluetooth but I can't access Android Auto that way. I still use Google maps on my phone that's connected to my rearview mirror so I can watch it easier. I basically have a feature on my car that I simply cannot use and don't want to have a mechanic fix it for monetary reasons. I want to fix it myself if possible.

It's fascinating because my wife used to work for Hyundai so we owned a series of hyundais starting with 2015 and ending 2019 I think. All of those years had disconnection with Android auto very frequently. We owned two elantras and one sonata during that time and all of them had the same problem.
Interestingly enough, we also bought a 2016 Kia optima and that also had constant disconnections
We now own a 2023 Hyundai sonata and rarely is there ever a disconnection.
