I remember using that "forked tongue" weeding tool in our Paradise Valley, Arizona backyard in the 1950's fighting Bermuda grass invasions! What a wonderful exploration of your growing gems~Thanks for the walkabout Hollar Family, we appreciate the nice musical stroll.

I lived in a house that had a cherry tree in the yard. I was so excited! I was waiting for the cherries to ripen. I went out to check them one day and discovered that the birds do not care if they are ripe or not. The tree was picked clean! Later, my sister and her husband bought the house. They cut the cherry tree and a huge apple tree down to put a satellite dish in. 😯💔 I was shocked. Both the trees were big and produced a lot of fruit.

When Ben said, "What a beautiful site that is!" my heart quickly agreed, BUT (although the sky was beautiful), I thought he was talking about the "site" of seeing his family coming to work together on the homestead! Both are gifts from the Lord. Cherish every moment and pray like crazy as parents for they will be gone all to soon in a world where "right is wrong and wrong is right" in many a man's heart, but God is Sovereign, and there we find our joy and peace! Blessings from am YT mama of young adults and Grandma!

One of my absolute best memories are of crawling under some bird netting, standing in front of two huge blueberry bushes and eating my fill before climbing up a nearby cherry tree to sit on the barn roof where I would eat all the best cherries I could pick! That would be breakfast, lunch was split between the strawberry field, the grape vines and the pear trees depending on the days:-)

Ben my strawberries are vining out already, I think there are going to be some huge berries this year, I’ve got the ever bearing berries, so I get berries into the fall season, I’ve got 5 huge mounds like a tractor tire big, that I’ve done with steel bands spirals all around, each year I end up giving away so many plants.

my grandmother used to make the best cherry pies. We used to live in town and one of our neighbors had a cherry and apricot trees. The biggest most beautiful cherries and best apricots ever this side of God's creation. Funny they gave the fruit to neighbors because as they got older they couldn't eat them. They gave me access to their trees as long as they didn't go to waste. I called my grandmother and she and my mother were both ecstatic. I enlisted a couple uncles and my dad who helped save the rest of the fruit. We insisted on paying them at least something and my uncle mowed their yard. We feasted on the fruit. My grandmother did ask for my neighbors favorite pies they could eat. Banana cream and coconut cream with meringue. We were lucky enough to live next door for 3 years and we swapped the garden veggies. Best neighbors. They were in their mid 80 when we first met. oh yes and they had strawberries. We swore we were living on top of a gold mine.

Cover your lower peach trees with spunbond fabric. It will help to retain the heat to protect blossoms during a frosty evening. Tie the fabric right over the tree and make a small tent tying loosely at the bottom.

Hats off to Meg! Her face describes the taste of fresh Cherries!! Came across an Old Growth Black Cherry Tree way up in the hills .. knew it would be at least a week before riping. Got there, happy with my bucket, ready to climb... Stepped in a Steaming pile of black bear dung... Looked up at the 200ft Cherry tree . I hear wmmmwoof....over and over.
He was stuffing his gullet.. I just wanted to bake a pie... Came back 3 days later... He stripped that old tree from top to bottom... Good for him .. I went to the market.. brought some cherries home and laughed all the time baking my pie!

The water become ice and that protects the bloom.

Great to see u planting lots comfrey and r u aware that u can also feed it to all livestock. We have feed all our animals and chickens with fresh comfrey leaves for years. The English harvested and dried comfrey leaves to feed livestock during winter l think it was 1700 - 1800 century. We plant around fence lines to suppress weed growth in spring and summer and in damp ground areas. Strawberries around your fruit trees as ground cover is way to go, u will end up great results.
