Pigs love to help with work in the pasture. Our sow ran off with my husband's hammer while he was doing repairs to their fencing. Hilarious to watch him chase her around to get it back!
I love how you show us your family in prayer before dinner. I follow a lot of homesteading channels, and most of them are Christian, but yours is the only one that shows you all praying. I also love how much you have done with your property and the animals. Blessings to you all.
Retired electrician. Run a strand of twine tied to a bolt-nut through the bottom hole , hook the twine from the top with the fence wire and pull it up; the nut will provide tension. Then, there is a direct connection between the two holes to feed fittings. No kid-fingers needed. Hope this helps. Y'all be well and stay safe.
Watching your kids proves what great folks you are ~ just as genuinely wonderful human beings! Buggy is so incredibly smart and beautiful and I just LOVE seeing her outdoors ALL THE TIME with her little bare feet AND seeing her in the kitchen with Mom ~ always sticking her tiny little fingers into everything to sneak a taste. She is just wonderful!!!! Thanks for sharing her with us!
The bed you tilled looks amazing! I’m disabled and can’t do that in my yard. So I live vicariously through you. I want to commend you for being the kind of dad that teaches a child instead of belittling them for not doing it good enough.
Those fritters look yummy. Thanks for sharing so much of your day today Ben. Those new beds do look great. The furrows are as deep and strait as any high dollar machine, and using the cows instead of the gas powder weed whacker was stroke of genius. Not only saved you some time but also gas for the machine. Y'all have a Blessed day.
You all have your projects which is great! I love that everyone can do what interests them and what they enjoy. Also how everyone will help everyone else. A family as it is meant to be. The enthusiasm of Buggie with the salad spinner was a joy to see. 💕💕🌻🌻
Love being taken along on your very productive day,and seeing both you and Meg teaching, and including your children in the ways of farming, and cooking!
Such fun videos to watch. I’ve noticed your family isn’t afraid of doing hard work for yourselves. Ben doesn’t need help from others (except for the boys)with that skill set and work ethic lol. Great team! You should be so proud. You get a lot accomplished.
Look at them boys helping dad i absolutely love it Ben you and Meg are raising some smart boys I see they love power tools also and they are very handsome young men too and so ever to learn especially the baby boy it want to long buggy will be right there with you and her brothers hug and prayers❤❤❤
Thank you Ben! That fitting is exactly what I have been looking for to make a rain barrel for my garden! The guy at Home Depot had no Idea what I was talking about!
Where I’m in Northeast TN, we have several different mini winters, it is the same for the mountains in NC. So after a certain plant or tree blooms there’s a small winter that comes after it and sometimes brings a frost. First there’s red bud winter (we’ve had that), then there’s dogwood (we’ve had that), then finally there’s blackberry. My blackberry bushes just bloomed so we’re due for another cold spell and I think we’re getting it this weekend. Usually everything is good after blackberry winter. It’s come very early this year, usually doesn’t happen until early May. The old saying is that May 10th is always usually the safe time to plant though the signs show it should probably be earlier this year. Y’all have a blessed day!!
So awesome that Brett shows a interest in gardening and he is encouraged to plant his own plot.. having 4 sons I've always said only similarities is their all boys. Thier personality and interests are so diverse .
I hope all the Homesteaders heard your advice about the drinking waterers in the blue barrels bc I'm sure this is a great problem solver for all those with livestock. TY!
What a great family! Looking forward to seeing what your son will plant. Thank you for explaining things. I’m the kind of person that wants to know ‘why’.
I was reading the transcript to get Meg's recipe for the turkey fritters and it was hilarious!😂 Meg, everything you create in the kitchen looks delicious! I must say you have a very busy family! Take care and God bless!❤🙏
Mad Scientist at work again/with helpers 🤔. They always said Pigs were smart 🧠. It has been spitting Snow since last night, just when my Daffodils and Tulips are up 🤨! Maybe the Cows came up with the grass is always greener LOL. The Garden looks beautiful Ben👍. I can smell dinner by your description 😊. JO JO IN VT 💞
The furrows really do look good Ben and even though I've watched you till and prepare many beds and I didn't help at all 😂, it's so satisfying seeing the finished bed.
Ben I'm sure glad you are able to get to the pigs watering system today and got it fixed, I can't express how crucial it is that animals have clean fresh water and all times. On our farm my dad assigned checking wallering bowls and troughs as a must-do chore for us kids. We checked watering systems regularly every week and filled up watering systems weekly automatically. So we did not need flag systems to tell us when watering troughs we're running low or needed cleaning.
🙋hi from Scotland ,hi lovely family i love watching your vidios the garden s looking fantastic you have come a lng way a lot of hard work ,your weather is lovely here in Scotland we have six weeks to go before our last frost ,desperate to get all my seedlngs out ben you can tell you love your garden ,cant wait till meg starts her own wee garden your kds are also amazing take tare till next time Anne from Scotland
Well done Hollars... never a dull moment. Really enjoyed today's post... Ben you certainly get the best from your little tiller machine & Meg I love the look of those fritters. My wife broke her leg recently so I am it - and I do actually enjoy cooking anyway but its nearly lunch time and watching the family eating has motivated me to cook some fritters for tea tonight. And finally I love to see your family giving thanks before each meal... God bless you all and thank you for sharing
Won't the milk taste like garlic and onions? We had a cow that ate bitter weed and the the milk was so bitter it was undrinkable for almost a week. I agree with you Ben, I love all 4 seasons.
The garden is really taking shap and looking forward to all the veggies you will be growing. I noticed the cows getting real interested in the potato tops lol. I have such a craving for fritters now, I think I know what supper will be lol
I love your videos, thank you so much for making my day a better one ❤ I am so looking forward to seeing what you grow this year and for Megs herb garden to develop, so many exciting things to come. Cows always remind me of toddlers, they are always so interested in everything that's going on. I watch the veggie boys and they feed their beef stock shredded sweetcorn stalks as silage, I was thinking you could put your corn stalks through the chipper and the cows could have that, even if it's for only a couple of days in the cooler months. Love to you all xxxx
Those are the friendliest little pigs. They know you are the "food man"! The baby boar piglets will quit being mad at you in no time! According to "Ryan Hall Y'all" weather forecast, with the rain coming thru TN, NC, and SC the weekend, temps are going to drop with possible frost through the remainder of April. So waiting to plant beans would be wise. May need to cover peas and lettuces to protect from frost burn. Hope it doesn't burn the fruit tree blossoms. Meg's dinner always makes me hungry! You're a fantastic cook Meg!
You had a happy productive day. You can pay yourself on the back. I remember my helpers with the salad spinner. God. It goes by so fast. Thanks Buggy for giving me a memory to enjoy. ❤
Love you guys!!! You videos are so inspiring! I'm waiting for better weather so I can plant my taters!! In ontario canada! We were teased with summer like temps last week now this week they are calling for flurries! !! Just want to garden!
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Great day . Love seeing your family. It would be fun to see some of the projects the young guys are doing.. Lillie an a is quite the farm girl.zucchini fritters yummy. 💞. Blessings 💕🕊💕🕊💕🕊🍀🍀
Ben...Possible suggestion...My Gramps always told me to castrate the wee ones within the first few days after birth. He said it bothered them less & you can put them back to nursing right after the nip & snip which allows them to remember the soothing love of mom over the pain of the castration. You might try it once to see if the wee ones don't forgive you faster.
Never heard it, but sure makes sense! " The Lazy Man Works Twice as Hard". Needs to be a t shirt! Great point to Get Cracking on all my own projects. Everything is so green and pretty! It was like a Saturday in the barn listening to everyone chat😊❤
I am in awe of you and your family. I have a 7 yd x10yd plot I keep hens and I have a not so high tunnel. But I work full time I can’t get enough of your channel.
Love that you pray before your meal. Wholesome family.
Brought me so much joy seeing you stand there with the cows in tow, eating the weeds so peacefully! I love this!
I love it, Brett’s garden! You’ve taught your kids well! ❤️
Look at you, swooning over the blessed seasons! I feel it too❤
Yay! Spring garden earth smell is so healing!💖💐🌹🌹

Al, Gina, and Olivia do as well on their TH-cam channel Lumnah Acres.
Lumnah Homestead shows their family in prayer before they eat. If you haven't followed them, start from the beginning and enjoy. They are good people.
Love all your work ethic,it’s a good life lesson for the children.
Well done Brett, can’t wait to see what he grows

Buggy is so precious, heck your family is precious.
Love Ben putting the cows on leads to graze. I used to do that with my horses years ago. So peaceful just standing and watching them graze. 😊😊

Y'all have done so much on this property...It's really looking good! Buggy is talking like a five year old. Such a smart girl.
I find myself saying to myself “I just love them!” so many times at the end of your Vlogs. Beautiful life and family.
You are a hardworking man, Ben Hollar 😊 I am so glad to see ya'll prospering in North Carolina and Thank You for sharing ❤

I was thinking the same thing 😊

Love watching all the kids helping.
A burrito! 😍😭 She is seriously the cutest child of all time!!
Good for Brett!
Brett I hope your garden does wonderful! You are always around to help out, and that's great! Best wishes Hollar family! ♥
Another good video showing another good day on the farm 👍🏾
Those fittings are exactly what I use for my rain barrels. They are worth every penny!
Fantastic video! Love your homestead. 👏❣️👏
How I yearn for yesteryear having my bare feet in the garden and breathing in the sweet scent of freshly plowed earth!
Hi hollar family ❤️ Man all of those boys are workers 👍👍👍👍👍keep it up.
It’s so fun to see Bens mind at work! Also cool to see an old barn full of random things that “I might need some day”. It’s like the good ol days.
I enjoy seeing what Meg cooks
I like that you gave the cows 29min. in the garden before tilling it. That is more food for free. Woohoo

So awesome that Brett shows a interest in gardening and he is encouraged to plant his own plot.. having 4 sons I've always said only similarities is their all boys. Thier personality and interests are so diverse .
It always brings a smile/chuckle/laugh with sister resting her little forehead directly onto the table for the meal prayer 👍🙂😁🤣
I always look forward to Megs cooking segment. Just curious, will there ever be a Eating With the Hollars cookbook?
Yes that would be awesome
I hope so! I am ever so slowly working on one. In my “free time” 🤣
@@michellebarringer fingers crossed lol

I wear Merrell hiking boots out in the yard. Super comfortable. Givem a try. They have really good grip and they're waterproof.

Cows love you so much!
I love how quiet cows (and other grazing animals) are as opposed to gas powered tools and engines. So much more pleasant and pastoral.
Blink your eyes and suddenly it will be "The Buggy Show!"
great job! you folks are encouraging!
The cows were so satisfied after getting at the weeds🥰
That sweet potato bed looks SO good. Love, love sweet potatoes! 👍👍
💚 That newly-tilled and furrowed garden area looks Great! Such great, obliging helpers with the grass, those cows 😊 💚
Yep, pigs are smart!! Oh, happy cows. Fritters look really good. I make fritter everything, too.
