Great for all Catholic families
This is all true. However most of the focus is on telling wives how to behave. Very little is said to explain the Bible instructions that the husband should love his wife as Christ loved the church. That is mentioned but not discussed...as the instructions to wives are discussed and discussed and discussed...as if all it takes to make a happy home is a submissive wife. That is only half the equation. Priests, and popes, need to focus A LOT MORE on "husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." If husbands did that...the world would be a happy and peaceful place!!!

Our world has made it impossible for many, not all, to be like the Holy Family. In a vast many situations, the woman is compelled to go out to work because a family cannot live on the father's income. This is especially true of first generation traditional Catholics who do not have the financial, social, or emotional support of an extended family network. Other times, the family suffers greatly from the father having to work multiple jobs with uncertain hours and no benefits. The stay at home Mom essentially raises and educates the children on her own. Dad isn't home to eat family meals or lead the Rosary. A friend with 11 children home schooled while her husband worked up to five jobs simultaneously. At age 42 he died of a massive heart attack. Turned out he had congestive heart failure that went undetected because they had no medical insurance. They ended up on welfare while Mom was required to attend classes to get her GED and further training to qualify for a job. There was no choice but to put the children in public school. Every last one has left the faith, and the living wage job never materialized because nearly the entire field she trained for was out-sourced before she graduated. She lives on a combination of house cleaning jobs off the books, welfare, and what small assistance her adult children render her from time to time. (All of them are on welfare as well.) Because she gets welfare and Medicare, and is not homeless, Catholic Charities does not assist her.
The times we live in make me think it best if the large majority of people do not marry and have children. Let them become priests and religious, or remain celibate in the world.

Good teaching, but I think you could find a better example than the V2 Novus Ordite Neo-con Americanist Archbishop Chaput as a teacher to recommend regarding women and the family.
