@@cheyennem9218 5 days a week and I’ll row anywhere from 3k meters to 5k meters depending on how my body is feeling that day. When I first started, I rowed 1k meters everyday for an entire month but my body would break down at the beginning if I did anymore than that
My gym, 24 Hour Fitness has Concept 2’s. Use them about 3 times per week, usually 30 minute sessions. In the years of using them, only once has one broken down, otherwise, they’re built to last. I’ll be moving into a house soon and buying a Concept 2 for my own use. Thanks for your great video!
I love your explanation of rowing technique, I definitely did the robot today on my first row. I picked up a used Ergatta last night for a steal. I needed something quiet and easy to store (and not bad looking) since we live in a smaller open-concept house. Buying used is a great way to get a quality item for just a bit more than amazon prices, especially workout equipment, usually it's in almost new condition.
My favorite workout since ~1986, C2 Model A days. I love the C2,, finally bought one of my own during/just after Covid and have been doing the same basic workout I did back then, not as fast now at 72 years old but was able to get back to a continuous 20 minute workout ~4km. Rowing is the best workout and TT is the best online rowing coach out there. His tip about back pain really helped my form coming back. Sit on those hammies!!! And... yes... C2 and the PM5 monitor is the best standard.
Hey Austin, great video! I like the idea about using a budget rower and you asked for ways to incorporate it into your workout. Usually I row on a waterrower performance ergometer, yet also rowed for a year on a C2. I tried the RP3 and Biorower and also some cheaper machines from Decathlon. Currently I got a fairly cheap air rowing machine standing beside my desk and also thought about ways on how to use it. The data being shown is absolute bogus. So my advice: Take out the batteries of the monitor and just use a smartwatch. Look at your heartrate, do either aerobic or anaerobic workouts or just try to follow along video workouts on youtube. If you row 30 or 45 minutes, and you get a little sweaty, this should already do the trick. Nonetheless, I second your thoughts about the digital output. With some new machines this season this is slowly getting better (at least in europe). Best Ulf
Happy New Year! Amazing and concise!!! Austin I love the no BS, high energy and detailed knowledge in this video. You managed to cram tips from a bunch of your videos quickly into this one. Thanks 🙏 The only change I am making this year is to get the tablet holder for my Concept 2. Watching a show while rowing will my the minutes glide by.
I bought an Amazon budget rower that I am using to perfect my form (or at least get in decent form). Once i have done that, if I love rowing and want to continue with it as my go-to exercise, then Ill upgrade
awesome to see an upload Austin ! I watched so many of your videos in June 2023 when I got my C2 and since then my fitness has increased so much even spreading out into weight training thanks for all your great information and tips for new rowers!
Hi Austin, great video! I bought a water rower with smartrow, which replaces the standard pulley and transmits workout data to your phone via bluetooth. It's supposedly much more accurate than the standard monitor and I would love to see you cover it down the line with how it compares to the concept2 monitor. Thanks
Great video, lot's to think about. I'm finally getting serious with my pandemic purchased Water Rower and needed the basics. Subscribed and will be going through all your videos 👍
Have you ever thought about making exercise videos for the expedience gym monster, the rower specifically? Would love to have some of your videos in their catalog.
Love your videos and love my Concept2 RowErg - it is the benchmark. I started with a water rower - mad data though: it seemed to suggest I was burning thousands of calories and moving just a few hundred meters. Moved to the Concept2 and there’s so much data out there - especially the data that helps you understand how well you’re doing for your age and experience.
big win here for me, I get always back issue had thought was due to not getting to 1 and 11 but now see I sitting on the wrong part or my ass. Thanks Will watch more and learn as I get row fit again :)
Thanks Austin that's a great video which has helped re motivate me to get back onto my Concept2. When I used to row 2/3 times a week, around my torso I lost so much weight and became so much more toned - so I am now ready to hit the rower again. Thanks for posting and happy new year! 😀👍
I literally just watch Netflix and use my fitness watch for everything else. I have one of the Amazon water rowers, i love it but i will upgrade to a concept when i can.
if the foot plates don't lower, someone can probably put some thick pad under the butt. I stared using a foam kneeling pad (it's a fairly firm foam) on my C2 seat. It's been good for butt comfort, and it gives a bit of extra height boost.
Cheers for the 2024 inspirational video Austin. By lowering the footplates 1 setting, I was able to drop my splits from 2:10 to 2:03 for a 2k row. The sub 8 min 2k now looks possible! All the best for 2024.
Thanks Austin for the great motivation, I have a concept2 for a couple years and love the machine. I have done the rowing with kettle bell swings ,squats etc. but the belly just does not want to go away. I am 63 and very active. Just wondering can rowing get rid of belly fat?
I have found that a combination of intermittent fasting and a ketogenic diet has worked well for me. I also add a fair amount of abdominal work to my workouts. I’m 62 and have a flat stomach again.
Thank you so much for the wonderful, inspiring videos... Now I'm ready to invest in a simulator after such lessons... do you think skillrow is a good choice??? Thanks a lot in advance and have a nice weekend... sincerely
Like all new drummers speed up over time, I have a difficult time maintaining pace, rate, power, whatever metric you choose. Watching the monitor starts to become obsessive, and takes away from the experience. I'd rather be a lazy Five Nights At Freddy's player & get jump scared from not watching the monitors enough. The search is to develop an internal regulator to keep pace in check. Thinking about form causes my output to climb and within a minute or two I need to slow down to catch up on oxygen, which feels terrible. The times I've been able to avoid that modality the workout was much more enjoyable. Somehow it seems tied to accepting at the onset that I'm not attempting PR. sorry for the long comment. any suggestions welcome. Great videos.
Hi Ryan, I am 60 years old, and started rowing the first week of January. I try to do 20 to 30 minutes a day, my muscles are sore, but I don't seem to see any weight change. Could I be doing something wrong?
I row 20 minutes at home and my lifecore machine says I traveled 3,200 meters. When I use the concept 2 machine at the gym for 20 minutes the machine says I traveled 3,600 meters. The resistance settings on both machines (max for concept 2) feel about the same.
Hi Austin, what are your thoughts on the Lit Method water rower? 2nd is it normal to have your hips hurt if u have never done rowing or much fitness at all and overweight as well. Thanks for all the info u provide on all things in the gym.
Hi Austin I love your videos I see you only reviews hydro rowing Can you comment on the magnetic or air machines Preferably on a budget of $1000 or less Thank you You are the bomb 💣
Got my concept two April of 2023 and I’m down 80 pounds! With a good diet and consistent rowing the fat will melt off you people
Nice! How often do you row for that?
Mind if I ask what your starting weight was?
That's a great result - well done!

I got a Spirit CRW800H2O rower. I try to row consistently three times weekly. Your videos have really helped me with my form and technique. Thank you.

Really enjoying the row20 program, three days in and it is enjoyable knowing what I am focusing on.

The form portion was very helpful! My shoulders were getting burned out so quickly and I couldn't figure out why. I'm gonna try this form out.

Many thanks.....All the way from London !
I will get a Concept 2 model D later on this year. Looking forward to it.

I'm getting strong Jim Carrey vibes lol
Thanks a lot for your advice Austin. In my case I have nordic track rw300 and I was wondering if it a good option for starting rowing sessions 🤔

I see that Soundgarden King Animal tat. Favorite band of all time.

Xterra ERG650 Water Rower. Your channel is great, thanks for all of the tips. Could you talk about breathing while rowing?

Can you comment on the magnetic or air machines
Preferably on a budget of $1000 or less

You are the bomb 💣
Waiting for delivery of mine. I can’t run. I play a lot of tennis. Let’s see where we can go……
Whats your opinion and review of the nordictrack rw900? I really
Like the screen for engagement but not sure how it is compared to the concept 2
Aviron? Higher-end??
Any thoughts on the Technogym Skillrow?
So you have your RowErg. Now what?
BikeErg! SkiErg! 😉
You mean move back on seat to have your hams more on the seat
So 20 minutes 4 times a week ain't gonna get it done ?
4 times a week is absolutely fine. Even 3 would be enough. If you can row every day Id argue you aren't pushing yourself.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Watch someone else besides "fart boy" that's what I'm gonna do.
