you have a natural talent for understanding fitting and figuring out construction. Most sewers don't. I hope you continue to expand your talents and suggest two things for you- look at some techniques for garment construction, either videos or books- Japanese, couture, tailoring, draping, pattern making, so many to choose from! The second is to learn pressing techniques for garment construction. It makes a huge difference in the finished garment to press the pieces into submission as you go, especially with the help of some tools like a ham, sleeve board and roll and good pressing cloth. I loved watching the video, the demonstration and end product were very good!
Thank you so much especially for your constructive criticism! I would love to know more about advanced techniques. The idea still intimidates me, but I used to be intimidated by zippers and knit fabric and I'm totally comfortable with working with them now lol
HELLO... please when you are attaching that white like " bias " thing... when you are using traight stitch... doesnt that make it unstretchy? like... doesnt stitches tear off?
Slavka Bar. I haven't had any problems with that but I understand your concern. I think as long as you're not purposely stretching out the leg holes, the stitches shouldn't break. I haven't been too careful with mine as far as putting them on, and mine are fine. I stretched out the leg hole right now to test it, and the elastic has some give to it :)
Hi Danielle! I'm looking to make a couple pairs of these; each in a different color. How much fabric would you recommend for each pair? (like 1/4 of a yard of each fabric, a full yard, etc.)
For a size small, I would go with about 1.5-2 yards just to be safe! I wish I remembered how much I used :/ For the trim, .5 yard is fine given that the stretch goes selvage to selvage
Danielle Sorry, another question. What kind of shorts do you recommend using for tracing onto paper? I used denim because it was the only kind I could find that fit me the way I wanted this shorts to fit me, but my back piece is smaller than my front, and I seem to want it to be the other way around in the video. I have lots more fabric so I can start over if needed.
It's alright! Ask me as many question as you need lol I recommend using shorts that you feel flatter your body and also shorts that fit how you want the DIY shorts to fit you. For me, I traced something midrise because I wanted the final product to be highwaisted which the additon of the waistband achieved. it's kinda odd that the back piece is shorter. you can always make the back pieces longer from the bottom. Or you can also trace pants and just trace to the length you want your shorts to be!
I was going to get a sewing machine because I really want to make these for myself but I'd prefer not to spend $100+ for something I'll barely use. I found a mini sewing machine called the easy home mini sewing machine. Do you or anyone think that'll work just as fine as a full size one?
I am someone who is a new beginner to sewing and I still spend around $150 for sewing machine. Those minis won't work, so get one sewing machine. Beside you gonna spend a lot of time practicing with sewing machine before you actually make this short.
you look amazing in it bye danielle nice shorts its adidas im a guy so girls look beautifull in shorts shorts no matter what kind of shorts shorts do i like you still look beautifull in it ;) 2018 ♡♡♡♡
To be honest these shprts do no good for me for running. They ride up and my thighs rub together; but they are really good for pajamas or athleisure outfits
I never knew how to make those edges on shirts/shorts I'm blown away
Great job. The shorts look so adorable. I like that you showed how to make the shorts smaller.

Danielle Good idea about the pants! I'll tell you how this pair turns out, and if it doesn't work then I'll try pants! Thank you again!
I love girls with This Shorts 😍😍😍
I'm confused. What's a seam allowance and is the wrong side just like the side you don't want to see?
The seam allowance is the amount of fabric that you add around a pattern so that you're able to sew it to another piece. And yes!
i love ur videos 💖
wow you're so talented!! what kind of fabric did you use? (sorry if you said in the video, I couldn't understand xD)
Interlock jersey knit! All the other supplies are in the description box if you're interested :)
WHAT DOES SEEM ALLOWANCE MEANS?
Can you give me the measurements please?😭😭
Just saw this, AA is closing:( Atleast I can recreate their shorts now though lmaooo, thank you!
It's heartbreaking! I wish I can recreate their denim products lol
how much fabric did you buy to make one pair?
I wish you were my sister so you could make all this stuff for me lmaoo
please make more sewing tutorials !! :)
of course ♥
