Heather will probably tease herself about the nervy vocals a few years from now, once she's toured extensively, but I love the messy beauty of it. Hope I'm lucky enough to catch their next US tour. ^.^
The rhythm section is super solid. Makes up for some of the repetitiveness and lack of enthusiasm. Overall I like the 80's aesthetic and they have some catchy songs. I'm looking forward to following their progress as they mature.
Her voice isn't traditionally good It's very unique just like matt Healy but it really works Can tell she's getting better st it too Very excited to see where she goes
What about this band conjures up images of groups like Rites of Spring, Mineral, Christie Front Drive or even Sunny Day Real Estate to you? Unless you're just one of those people who lazily throws the "emo" moniker on anything with band members dressed in black and looking or sounding sad..? Save for some of the guitar playing maaaybe being akin to the lush soundscapes of early Slowdive, the "dream pop" tag falls short as well. This band is nice for the style they play, but trying to put them in a box with inapplicable genres is just silly. Call it like it is: They're a pop band with with a goth aesthetic, crafting songs remarkably similar to the band who've given them a spotlight on their tours/label.
Taylor Maddox I used the word emo to describe lyrical content of which reminds me of American Football and yes, Sunny Day Real Estate. Whereas the guitar effects and overall sound reminds me of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Asobi Seksu, albeit more subtle then them. You see where I'm coming from?
These lyrics are borderline Taylor Swift song content so, no, I don't see the American Football or Sunny Day Real Estate references whatsoever. Those bands write clever lyrics. Everything from the pace of these songs to the guitar sound is The 1975. You would be hard pressed to find many people who disagree.
I once hooked up with a someone that looks like a mix between the drummer and the singer, I can't unsee it while I look at them haha the funny thing was that I met her at a concert
AsTheWheelsTurn yeah I totally agree it's like part of their unique sound Which is weird because I'm usually pretty critical about that kinda stuff haha
Unfortunately they didnt….Heather and Ciara lost all their cool goth style and the music got more bland with none of the dreamy kind of sad sound that I loved. ☹️😳😖
Curious to know if her sense of pitch is off in general or just in these live contexts. It's very easy to pitch correct studio takes. The BBC performance sounded pretty rough too. As for being a starting band, these musicians are obviously experienced. So I'm curious as to why the pitch is so off haha. Can't really listen to it here.
I'm really liking this band, but I want to know how this is live, when we hear all kinds of synth, keys being played in the background, and background vocals also? I hate a fake live track. I do agree with many others that she's got some vocal fails going on in this performance, but she also looks terribly uncomfortable and I'm guessing the nerves got to her. Still very enjoyable music.
Ive gotten into this band and wolf alice recently. the more I hear from wolf alice the better they get. this band is the complete opposite. they are getting worse and worse.
how old is the singer?? she really needs to work on her vocal technique. kinda reminds me of when lana del rey started out. not just the flat notes, she has zero vibrato, even all those vocal effects can't hide that. I could be wrong but she seems like she's trying hard to have her own signature tone but its not really natural to her, so she doesn't really have proper control of it yet. Either that or her singing technique is not that great in general. The music otherwise is quite derivative and unoriginal, and these are all standard pop songs with the classic Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge/Break-Chorusx2 formula. The benchmark to be marketed as different/unique has gone down pretty low these last few years.
most young singers lack consistency for live performance tbh, it's a combination of nerves and just general green-ness in their technique. idk why ppl act like this is a new phenomenon. assuming they maintain their current momentum i expect her to be a killer live performer in a year, tops.
wohdin I wouldn't call 22 as "young" if someone is serious about being a singer. Also, I watched a few TH-cam videos of their live performances at different venues and she's consistent, consistently off-key. So yeah, she really needs to work on her toning and delivery.
The “meeeeeEEE, youuuuuEHH” thing is annoying as fuck... those accents at the end of her words wtf. Put more into it the droney 80s pop crap was boring as soon as it was made. Also the songs need to stop being so OVER produced fuckn hell and sounding the same it’s absolutely boring. Put some thought into it. And the 1975 hand gestures fuckn kill me bloody hell. Fuck right off with that jumped up bubblegum bullshit -Gordon Ramsay
0:00 - 3:50 new year's eve
3:55 - 7:15 Television Romance
7:17 - 11:12 There's a honey
Heather will probably tease herself about the nervy vocals a few years from now, once she's toured extensively, but I love the messy beauty of it. Hope I'm lucky enough to catch their next US tour. ^.^
that bass knows how to groove, ' love the band

Heather is getting better live. I also love how awkward she is lol it’s amazing but it makes the band work.

i love a legend
oooh my favorite
Love heather,I hope they go far , great young band
Her voice isn't traditionally good
It's very unique just like matt Healy but it really works
Can tell she's getting better st it too
Very excited to see where she goes
matt's voice isn't too unique, he's like morrisey without the nasal tone and with 100x more passion
She out of tunning many times.
oh boy. i hope she's okay.
Such a top band.
You mean such a "pop" band.
They are just female 1975
Pale Waves are pretty much emo dream pop and I love it. I also love the Heaven or Las Vegas t-shirt
You're pretty much deaf if you think that.
Taylor Maddox if you believe I'm wrong, please enlighten me on your opinion

Hearing the Cranberries influence in new years eve.
I once hooked up with a someone that looks like a mix between the drummer and the singer, I can't unsee it while I look at them haha the funny thing was that I met her at a concert
Mana Power I call bull! No pics, no likes!!!!
This is the head and footer.
m.B.
น่ารัก
Is there a good live performance with her that is not acoustic?
reminds me of sinead o'connor
cocteau twins shirt !
England rules music.
I feel like given the similarity of their choruses, Television Romance and There's A Honey shouldn't be played back to back.
Same, tbh. ^.^
Yeah, I thought so when I heared There's A Honey... Nice rythm though, but repeatitive nevertheless.
ya thats what i thought too tbh
Called: Canned Laughter
Where is the keyboard player? Where is that synth noise coming from?
John Smith Its playing off a backtrack probably
I think her vocal mistakes are part of what I like about her vocals...lol
how can you detect vocal mistakes ????
how can you detect vocal mistakes ????
I can just hear it, she is frequently off key, how can you NOT hear it?
just listen to the first three lines she sings before the music even kicks in, she is off multiple times.
AsTheWheelsTurn yeah I totally agree it's like part of their unique sound
Which is weird because I'm usually pretty critical about that kinda stuff haha
how is she doing that with her voice. that last millisecond pitch slide is wild
It's like yodeling.
low audio
y a s!
Hope they don't blow up and sell out and just be a pop band. Hope to see them stick to this dream/shoegazing style
Hahaaa hope ure jokin
Unfortunately they didnt….Heather and Ciara lost all their cool goth style and the music got more bland with none of the dreamy kind of sad sound that I loved. ☹️😳😖
They never had ANYTHING to do with shoegazing, they have always been a pop band.
yes heather queen of singing!! mariah carey just handed in her resignation papers you're doing amazing sweetie
Caspar this comment has me shook fucking hell how wrong could you be lmfao
Ellie shooketh!!
bruh no
Caspar oooh fancy seeing u here
Leonie Jay I'm EVERYWHERE

Where are the synth noises coming from I'm confused? Is the drummer pressing pads or something?
No band can be bad if they reference the Cocteaus.
Are they using auto tune?
Shes like the reverse Melanie Martinez to me
Reverse?
oursummeranthem not awful
She's much better because she is herself, and doesn't play a stupid character, like Melanie does.
Miku- Senpai opposite? You mean?
+MCFN96. ooh believe me, melanie is completly hersef
Their music reminds me of The Cocteau Twins.
just the Heaven or las Vegas Tshirt.
check "Them Are Us Too" (band)
sacrilegous
HEY HEATHER, TRAIN YOUR VOICE, IT FEELS SO SO SO FRAGILE, GREAT BAND.
I agree but I have to say it's harder to be original in this day
How old is she I wonder?
she's 23
cute
Хизер чудо просто )
So who is play the synthesizer?
syntheticgerbil backing track mate
Drummer!!!!
Love pale waves and Heather but them vocals are not good at all!!
憎悪=愛音楽of煩悩
WIG
Not the best vocals but when Heather smiles man...
I'm really liking this band, but I want to know how this is live, when we hear all kinds of synth, keys being played in the background, and background vocals also? I hate a fake live track. Someone's got a Siouxsie Sioux fetish...
Jeez, they all seem dead
Ive gotten into this band and wolf alice recently. the more I hear from wolf alice the better they get. this band is the complete opposite. they are getting worse and worse.
They haven't even put out their first album yet.
I love Wolf Alice too but Heather’s vocals are so much better now and the album is amazing 🖤
I know musicians hate comparisons but is anyone else thinking Alice Glass?
how old is the singer?? she really needs to work on her vocal technique. kinda reminds me of when lana del rey started out. not just the flat notes, she has zero vibrato, even all those vocal effects can't hide that.

pimpleface they've just started tough. Give them a chance. I'm sure that in a few years they'll sound amazing
these are still very enjoyable songs though and i like her voice for what it is
she's 22

stevie price I didn't know Matty invented moving your hands
Musics good but she needs to cheer up
Gary Thrasher rude
At least she looks more presentable without all that clown makeup on. The music still sucks, tho.
Thanks for your professional opinion.
