The greatest moment in Tom's life will be when he's 70 years old, out watering his tomato plants in his back garden and seeing some young lads streak by murmuring about watching old GeoWizard videos inspiring their mission!
I'm a bit sad, from Tom's introduction, that other people aren't doing it. The problem with GeoWizard is we like watching him doing anything; meaning it's very hard to make the challenge catch on and become the selling point, rather than the channel doing it.

A piece of advice for the cramps: extend your leg to the maximum. I've noticed that when the cramp comes you hold your leg and try to keep it as still as possible. That's a very natural thing to do as moving it hurts, but from my experience extending the leg and stretching it makes the pain go away much faster .
I second this! I was blown away when I learned that not everyone knows this, as it makes such a huge difference. As soon as you feel the cramp setting in you should immediately straighten your leg, pull your toes up and keep doing it for like less than a minute and it will be gone without any leftover pain. In my experience the cramps just get more frequent and worse if you let the first one get too far.
I sometimes get very painful cramp surfing. Usually if I've taken an intense wipeout and it throws yours arms and legs into very unnatural positions. Stretching your leg out as far as you can and then point your toes up as much as you can at the same time does the trick every time. If you don't do that it is agony!
Yes. You want to stimulate bloodflow so move it as much as possible and massage the leg. Also drink as much as reasonably possible. Hurts a lot while doing it but you recover much quicker.
Ideas for the next race. 1) Fixed stop time, 5mins. The timer starts when the participants start the clock kept beside a fixed point. 2)same line. Different lines depends in satellites images that are not always accurate. 3)if different lines are created, then, keeping the same lenght, also the creation of the line should be with a fixed time on the same system.eg 5hours for research.
the converging lines really is a good idea though With the same line, you'd have the teams conflicting too much especially at the start, fighting over passages in the brambles
As much as watching confrontations makes me anxious, I do chuckle at the idea that this man came angrily storming out of his house only to see a man shouting "Truth! Truth!" in Latin.
Geez, cramming it all into one day really highlights how difficult these are. A triathlon with a mountain climb or two mixed in, topped with the occasional wall of thorns to cut your way through. An unreal level of athleticism from all 3 of you, and kudos to such a tight race despite all those obstacles!
It's hard to tell exactly how stuck it is. Sheep will sometimes go and hide in gorse (well, all hedges actually) and may have just run in a little further to hide because Tom came past. Then again sheep are born with the will to die so who knows.
Just as my depression creeps back I find this channel. Thank you for these videos, man, really. Gotta go back to working out now after a week of darkness.
Gonna have to agree. Making it a race took away all the little grace notes that make the straight line missions charming. Those moments and observations can't happen under the shadow of a ticking clock. Also, makes it more reckless.
@@Bnioyeah, I totally agree about it being reckless. Case in point in the video, one of them hitting his head but they don't stop and make sure he's okay because they're in "race mode"
This was absolutely fantastic! It was like the sum of all straight-line missions (hedges, GPS problems, swimming, hills, private property, train tracks, angry man) into one video, and this one had the flavour of competition, which was extremely fun to see. Thanks again, Tom!
Devon, The only county in the UK with two coastlines, A perfect opportunity to do a straight line mission and you have the outstanding Dartmoor national park right in the middle.
The biggest obstacles with these missions will be the unforseen nature and crossing peoples properties. But that's what makes the suspense and drama to this series!!! Love it please continue
I'm so glad you're not bitter or mad about losing, and didn't blame anything but your own mistakes. Class act. What a great video, hope you make more like this
I just want to tell you how much your adventures never fail to pull me out of the stress of my everyday life. It really reminds me of simpler times, running through the woods as a kid. And you're also inspiring, I've picked up running again but not for the sake of running for an hour with no sense of exploration (which made me stop in the first place) but for the sake of getting outside, going somewhere and experiencing your surroundings. The video of you and your mates running through the snow kinda triggered this childlike wonder in me. Thank you! Much love from Austria!!!
"I get what I deserve" - iconic quote had me in stitches. Sorry for laughing at your pain Tom, but that's what it's all about right? This was a fantastic mission, keep it up! Love a good gorse bush mate, used to swim through the stuff as a kid, it's spikey as heck but I feel like you don't get caught up as much as the old brambles.
You're an inspiration Tom. I didn't nor I plan to do any straight line missions, but thanks to you I already hitch hiked half of Europe, and with greater plans ahead, you helped me turn my life into a proper adventure.
I remember getting emotional watching the very first straight line mission when it came out, something about the music and endings always gets me. Thank you for all the content throughout the years, and please stay safe doing these!
Actually a living legend for these straight line challenges. You’re truly British demeanour & urge for adventure is inspiring for all us pre millennium big kids that long for the days when we did shit like this after school just for something to do. Will always get excited for when I see a straight line challenge upload & will miss it dearly when they are no more! You’ve got to do some more races with these guys or other youtubers; maybe countries or islands make for more difficult planning, but u could race in straight lines across counties in a day or 2 & that would be just as thrilling. Keep it up, look forward to the next!
This video had some of my favorite British slang thrown in by Tom lol. The random "Jesus wept" and "Christ on a bicycle" were hilarious! Great video as per usual Tom, love from South USA
After seeing this I reckon Tom would've won if he hadn't insisted on swimming the reservoir (and presumably planning the line around it)! Would love to see a rematch!
Idea for you missions is one that ive done. You chose a river and follow it either all the way from the mouth to the source or vice versa much stricter and how far you can can stray from it
Tom, I’ve watched, and enjoyed, many of your challenges. I don’t know if you have any touchpoint to pro sports, but a saying one of my coaches had feels relevant “Do your 100%, because the rest isn’t up to you!” It was a reminder to take care of all the little things within your own control, because there were so many things that you can’t control. Hearing you reflect on your self-caused delays, it crossed my mind.
Having a cramp can not only be extremely painful but it does extremely limit your mobility too. Like when I had 4 cramps in both legs in a football match at the first minutes. I could not even move, so I was goalkeeper whole game then haha. So that is a great achievement that Tom even finished the mission, and he was so close to them!
I can feel those leg cramps, I get them kayaking in local mountain rivers in the high summer when the water is more like 18-20C. Don't even want to imagine what they felt like at 9C. Good on ya mate
What a video! I wish I had someone I could race in a straight line with it looks like so much fun 😃 I love how despite the fact you lost the race you were still sporting about it. Good for you mate 😁
Can't believe that guy challenged you so forcefully. If you had legit been someone who was trying to escape from someone/somewhere, he would have got himself chinned.
Great to see you back on the missions in the beautiful british countryside. Fair play to all competitors. no losers here and plenty of positive spirit.
That classic aspect ratio, adorned by that beautiful 8bit track gives me chills and the same feelings I'd of had on a warm summer evening as a kid looking to explore. Thanks, Tom, seriously.
A tough watch that, seeing our beloved GeoWizard limping home as two upstarts beat him at his own game. Backing you to avenge them in a future race Tom 🫡
i know the creative process comes with a lot of second guessing, so i want to preface this by saying: your straight line missions have always been incredible, well edited, well narrated, and the music is always the cherry on top. BUT in my humble opinion, i think it's best to probably not do these as races. the straight line already puts you in so much danger, but the psychology of competition is a different beast. just don't want to see you or your mates get hurt keep up the great work though, just wanted to share my thoughts and add to the engagement
I love these videos, every once in a while i find myself revisiting the legendary trip from switzerland to slovakia. Truly wonderful concepts and videos, and incredible scenery. Reminds me of my own time there!
never stop using the soundtrack that you use. I think I can remember you mentioning your mate made it and he did a great job. Your videos are inherently nostalgic for some reason I can't explain. Youre such a gem man
This was a pretty good addition to the straight line mission!Having active competition made it a lot more exciting - I think this should become a sub series of its own. Doesn’t have to be an entire county, just an agreed point A to B.
As a person from a country that has "all man's right" (literal translation) I will never understand why someone would care about someone just passing through your yard. Unless the person in question is acting like they're staking out the place or something I simply couldn't care less if they're using my yard as a shortcut.
as a person from a country who doesn't, i don't get it either 😂 i am from a very small town but I wouldn't really be alarmed at someone near our house (especially clearly passing through), part of our driveway is kind of used as a community path to the beach even though it is our property lol
To be fair the guy seemed to be mainly concerned about there being even more people coming or this becoming some kind of regular occurence. Which I find very understandable. Also I live in a country with everyman's right too and while we have pretty much complete freedom of movement in forests etc, even down to camping overnight, I have observed that people very conciously stay out of gardens, farmyards and other immediate surroundings of houses. Much more so than in my home country where there is less freedom regarding overnight camping etc. in nature.
@@yarnandleaves9378he definitely has the right to be concerned and angry BUT let's be honest that's probably the most excitement he's had in years lol

"Oh my poor, poor scrotum"! Had me in fits!!
Tom's acceptance of defeat and genuine praise of the Fieldhouses is refreshing! GGs to all.
Alternative title: the epic quest of two men going through a Man
I think ive seen a video with that title on a different website
2 men 1 isle?
To a salty tasting finish.
Thank you for a good laugh

Ideas for the next race.
1) Fixed stop time, 5mins. The timer starts when the participants start the clock kept beside a fixed point.
2)same line. Different lines depends in satellites images that are not always accurate.
3)if different lines are created, then, keeping the same lenght, also the creation of the line should be with a fixed time on the same system.eg 5hours for research.
the converging lines really is a good idea though
With the same line, you'd have the teams conflicting too much especially at the start, fighting over passages in the brambles
As much as watching confrontations makes me anxious, I do chuckle at the idea that this man came angrily storming out of his house only to see a man shouting "Truth! Truth!" in Latin.
Your average Joe is never gonna think someone's speaking in Latin when they say "Verity" - it's a very common name and most people don't know Latin
@@J75Pootleits a joke.
GeoWizard please call the farmer that owns the sheep that is stuck at 33:00 to help it out 😥
I just commented about that poor sheep. I hope Tom told someone.
well now it's waaay to late I assume
It's hard to tell exactly how stuck it is. Sheep will sometimes go and hide in gorse (well, all hedges actually) and may have just run in a little further to hide because Tom came past.
Then again sheep are born with the will to die so who knows.
@@alexg1778 sheep are born with the will to die?
@@emily-wj4bd honestly, yes, theyre stupid and commonly get stuck in brambles and die.
Just as my depression creeps back I find this channel. Thank you for these videos, man, really. Gotta go back to working out now after a week of darkness.
The stuck sheep though 😭
The normal straight line adventures are much more enjoyable for me personally. It's more leisurely and chill.
Gonna have to agree. Making it a race took away all the little grace notes that make the straight line missions charming. Those moments and observations can't happen under the shadow of a ticking clock. Also, makes it more reckless.
@@Bnioyeah, I totally agree about it being reckless. Case in point in the video, one of them hitting his head but they don't stop and make sure he's okay because they're in "race mode"
not to mention longer, but yeah. It was a fun little thing for variation, but i definitely liked the long ones more. Especially with a companion
There’s no better series on this whole site. This is the peak of the TH-cam mountain
Isle of Wight has at least 4
The Isle of wight from my memory is an island so only has one coastline.@@notkaty
He got some other people to do that
@@namename3130 poor storror
two separate coastlines*
The biggest obstacles with these missions will be the unforseen nature and crossing peoples properties. But that's what makes the suspense and drama to this series!!! Love it please continue
“Let’s catch these posh twats’ 😂
God I love geo wizard adventure videos. Yoda v young jedis.. geo needed greg on his side
What an absolute slap in the face to Marcus the "my only serious competition" was!
Let's be real, I love Marcus but he needs to step up his game.
@@OriginalMindTrick All the lads tackle the challenge in slightly different ways and bring something different to the table.
@@Phisting Yeah for sure.
As someone who suffers with cramps...I don't know how you manage to carry on afterwards...I'm always totally broken after one. Kudos to you GeoWizard
You're an inspiration Tom. I didn't nor I plan to do any straight line missions, but thanks to you I already hitch hiked half of Europe, and with greater plans ahead, you helped me turn my life into a proper adventure.
From the Isle of Man, Great Video Mate
You must be so proud that you have started a movement... those lads were great, love these videos!
I remember getting emotional watching the very first straight line mission when it came out, something about the music and endings always gets me. Thank you for all the content throughout the years, and please stay safe doing these!
Yes! A new straight line mission on this channel is the greatest content on this website.
When I hear that music start up my heart fills with joy and wonder.
You're a legend m8. Thanks for the years of unmatched content.
Please please but a wrist bag thing and store your GPS within it. Awesome as usual.
Calling the peat bog incident "the odd bad decision" is one of the biggest understatements I've ever heard in my life
This video had some of my favorite British slang thrown in by Tom lol. The random "Jesus wept" and "Christ on a bicycle" were hilarious! Great video as per usual Tom, love from South USA
Jesus wept i'm pretty sure is just a Community quote lol
Ahh that would make sense lol, i figured they may be related since they both dealt with Jesus. Cheers!@@SuperSMT
After seeing this I reckon Tom would've won if he hadn't insisted on swimming the reservoir (and presumably planning the line around it)! Would love to see a rematch!
Fair and square? Their line was so much less challenging.
You're a beast anyway, Tom.
The first tone you hear at second one of this video suggests this will be a certified banger.
I hear that music play on your videos and it immediatly brings a smile to my face.
This race was insanely close, and the difference between the lines immense.
I wager; if you rematch and swapped lines, you'd win it Tom.
That music man, so iconic, does something to my brain when I hear it. Great content as always, onto the next adventure
This was great! Love the normal Straight Line Missions, but the race element added something new. Would be great to see more races too!
Idea for you missions is one that ive done. You chose a river and follow it either all the way from the mouth to the source or vice versa much stricter and how far you can can stray from it
Hats off to you, always the best series on TH-cam. A successful straight line mission is never a failure, keep it up and feel proud
Tom: "My only serious competitors"
Marcus the Chess Teacher: "And I took that personally..."
Tom, I’ve watched, and enjoyed, many of your challenges. I don’t know if you have any touchpoint to pro sports, but a saying one of my coaches had feels relevant “Do your 100%, because the rest isn’t up to you!”
It was a reminder to take care of all the little things within your own control, because there were so many things that you can’t control. Hearing you reflect on your self-caused delays, it crossed my mind.
Old time music and 4:3 video. Amazing again
‘Oh my scrotum, oh my poor poor scrotum’ should be on a geowizard t-shirt!
fun race, and i hope to see another race in the future, a great idea with a one-day one
Can't believe that guy challenged you so forcefully. If you had legit been someone who was trying to escape from someone/somewhere, he would have got himself chinned.
They're running past his window with cameras, I think he figured out it was some kind of stunt
Some people are born with sticks up their asses.
Genuinely impressive how Tom consistently never has the GoPro batteries ready to go 🤣
A tough watch that, seeing our beloved GeoWizard limping home as two upstarts beat him at his own game. Backing you to avenge them in a future race Tom 🫡
i know the creative process comes with a lot of second guessing, so i want to preface this by saying: your straight line missions have always been incredible, well edited, well narrated, and the music is always the cherry on top. BUT in my humble opinion, i think it's best to probably not do these as races. the straight line already puts you in so much danger, but the psychology of competition is a different beast. just don't want to see you or your mates get hurt
keep up the great work though, just wanted to share my thoughts and add to the engagement
I agree :) It's all about the adventure, not the competition
@@Beaglecornfor sure, just wanna see the homie succeed and be safe
love that you still post in 4:3
41:00 Lovin' the way Tom is getting a bollo*ing from the house owner, but still has the cheek to ask how long ago Archie & Adam ran through.
Love it when I see a new challenge pop up. I don't watch the geogesser stuff but these challenges are always my favourite stuff to watch on TH-cam!
Just waiting for Straight line mission through Brazil to happen.
You guys should've invited Mr. Grumps to dinner 😂
22:46 hahah thats some primal feelings there :D i love your humour
As a person from a country that has "all man's right" (literal translation) I will never understand why someone would care about someone just passing through your yard. Unless the person in question is acting like they're staking out the place or something I simply couldn't care less if they're using my yard as a shortcut.
as a person from a country who doesn't, i don't get it either 😂
i am from a very small town but I wouldn't really be alarmed at someone near our house (especially clearly passing through), part of our driveway is kind of used as a community path to the beach even though it is our property lol
You would get a curious what are you doing? But if all you are doing is swiftly speeding through, oh well.
ooooooohhhhhh my god. I felt that final cramp! omg omg! incredible effort! amazing race
