  • Scale models are serious business. While we may have thought of them as toys when we were kids, as grown up petrolheads, we learn to appreciate the amount of love and detail that goes into making them, and soon realise that if you can't have the real thing, a good scale model can bring you at least some of that thrill. But where to begin? How much do you have to spend? Which should be your first model? Avid model collector Cyrus Dhabhar breaks down the whole process for you.

    The 1:64 hotwheels that sell for 120rs arent collector's grade, those are suitable for kids. Only the 399 rubber wheels hotwheels and above can be considered collector's grade, and if you own a 1/64 greelight/schuco/tomica premium then hotwheels come no where near these in terms of realistic details but sadly these brands dont exist officially in India, same goes for 1:76, 1:87, 1:43 scales. There is NO local manfucturers of these scales, everything is imported and quite expensive that too in a country where it will be hard to convince most ordinary person why they show pay even 500rs for thumb size model car, they wont even understand there is a difference between model car and toy cars.
    As a collector I would advise against buying 1:18 scale unless it is a autoart/kyosho grade model, because the cheap ones will simply take up space and are worth less. 1:43 is the best scale but not officially sold in India, finally remember 90% are made in China.

  • @rohandheman
    @rohandheman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    About 80 of them in 1:18 from AutoArt, Kyosho, GT Spirit etc. Lets just say i could have bought a nice hatchback if i had not got those scale models! :) I am super proud of my entire M3 line up in 1:18 from the E30 to the current F80. and of course there is a 1:12 AutoArt Lamborghini Murci as well along with 15 other Lambos in 1:18 (mostly autoart or kyosho)

    When i was kid i used unbox the car moments after buying it and coming home but in the past few years i prefer keeping them in the box/package because as i grown up i gradually started to admire the cool artwork on the packaging.

    • @astitvak
      @astitvak 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Search for Tomica Suzuki WagonR. It's available in 1:64 but in the Japanese version of the car. There's also a 1:24 available by Fujimi Model, but again the Japanese version of the car. These would be expensive options and difficult to buy as well. Join diecast groups on Facebook and you might find the leads to buy these.
      Besides, Centy would be making a plastic version of the WagonR that you can find on Amazon or your local toy store.
      That being said, none of these would be 2019 model year but still it's better than having nothing 😅
