    I bought this model two weeks ago and i have to say i'm really satisfied with it. It has evrything i need and the build quality seems outstanding, really nice!

      Does it feel big to you? I am debating between this and a x270 for school. No gaming and no editing of any kind

      Not at all, it feels very slim and light. I'm still very satisfied. It's easy to take the device in one hand and write long equations or code on the whiteboard without fear of dropping it.

    Very informative review. Just completely shocked about the price. Thankfully, my workplace bought me my current T450. I'd hate to pay for a ThinkPad out of my own pocket. I love the T series ThinkPads because they run Linux flawlessly, they're durable, have great keyboards, and have a hot swappable battery! I always get the long life batteries and get around 9 hours running Linux (most of the time I'm in a terminal, so nothing too demanding).
    I want to get the latest T470, but just can't afford it. I'll be looking at an Entroware laptop instead (for around £800 I can get their 14 inch with Linux pre-installed, and a whopping 32GB of RAM).

    so I got this, if you choose the cheaper option for the battery it's swappable... I know it's weird, the cheaper battery is twice the capacity and swappable...! love the laptop, I got it for durability and it's doing well

    They do have some models like the X1 that were exactly what the guess was here, the part of the back above the second battery removed, so you could swap out the main battery without powering down due to the secondary battery. They just shared the layout in models like this that didn't have that other cover/battery.

    Very good review. Good technical analysis. Thank you.
    I am looking for a thinkpad with longest possible total battery life (including using a 6 cell, 72Wh rear battery). I have been looking at X270, T470, T470p, T470s. What's your suggestion please? Longest total battery life is my main attention.

    Wait, what? What's the point of this S model?... Sure it's thinner than the regular T470 but couldn't most buyers just opt for the X1 carbon?... The T470 itself is already Ultrabook spec. So to have TWO Ultrabooks in the T series being the same screen size sort of doesn't make sense.

    Again lacking simple but useful media keys... That was one of the reasons I switched to a Dell XPS 15. I've been a Lenovo Thinkpad user for 6 years. Owned about 17 laptops of them (no joke, though they were all secondhand). The last one was my T440s. New Lenovo lineup lacks important (design)features. No more lenovo for me. What a pity!

    • @fakhrulhilal
      @fakhrulhilal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You mean new ThinkPad lineup, right? I agree with you, really suck keyboard layout.

    • @PeterVanKeer
      @PeterVanKeer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fakhrulhilal Maktum well yeah. Ever since t4302/t440 linup, nothing really really improved (for me). Batterysituation with the bulky 6cell, lack of simple mediabuttons on the arrowkeys e.g. (for me personally a big bummer). Not sure about touchpad which was a nightmare on the t440s. My dell has the most amazing touchpad I've ever had. Lenovo should've had it 😟

    • @AndyTurfer
      @AndyTurfer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The T440 touchpad was a disgrace. Lenovo should have recalled that particular model. I swapped my T440 touchpad out for the touchpad that comes with the T450. It was worth the hassle.

    • @pithikoulis
      @pithikoulis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How is XPS 15 better? It weights a massive 2kg due its enormous battery, has poor keyboard and the QA is non-existing! Oh yes, and coil-whine/buzzing in every single unit.

    • @PeterVanKeer
      @PeterVanKeer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Manos Seferidis My t440s with extended 6 cell battery which looked like a tumor weighed only about 150grams less. So that's no reason to avoid the xps15 at all talking about weight. Performance is 10x better for that little added weight.
      After 17 thinkpads I do know that their keyboards were close to the best ever, but the xps15 are by far (!!) bad. Personal preference I guess? Lacking media keys on 14" thinkpads is shit. And no QA? That's a misconception. XPS 15 are high qualitymade laptops. No magnesium, but still high quality. Trust me, I know what quality feels like, and I'm supersatisfied with what I got now. No coilwhine on the 15, only 13" models...
      Back in the days, with the t420 series, I would never ever go for a Dell/Hp/... Now times have changed and Thinkpads are not what they used to be

      Eric Sharp - if you like macbook's with limited ports and not really designed for business...then yes, buy one. This laptop is clearly designed for the high end business user. 1Tb PCle SSD, 20Gb memory, Win 10 Pro, finger print reader..... can be had for just over $2,500 including a the Ultra Dock and 3 year warranty+Accidental damage. Expensive, yes, but really not a bad deal.
