This is pretty awesome! There's just two issues. 1. You can't have high humidity or the cardboard gets weak. 2. It can't get too warm or the hot glue will melt again. I made something very similar out of boxes and contact paper for our bathroom to hold towels. The moisture from showers made the boxes start drooping in the middle. Even though I laid each box on the side and used duct tape to hold the boxes together, then covered with contact paper, it only lasted about 8- 10 months. I figured I got my times worth cause the money put into it was under $20. 🤷🏽♀️🤣🥰
Well,what she made apparently isn't in the bathroom... It looks like she uses it to hold her make up,and skin care products... I think it'll be fine depending on what it's USED for and how much you put on it..

That will make it more sturdy. It's even better if you can add 2 additional layers of cardboard to the box. I got my used boxes from the grocery store and a liquor store. Some of those boxes are very sturdy cardboard which is perfect for things like this! I'd make more of I needed something now. It was fun to make. I've learned from what I have made and I was just hoping to help others if they're wanting to make something also. 🫶🏼🩷🫶🏼

This is honestly one of the most creative, and Earth friendly videos I have seen. My only concern is how much trust she had in the shelves and the hot glue holding them. Lol
Earth friendly would be using that cardboard for a private compost heap, or as bedding for composting worms. It is creative, and maybe necessary for her, and i do agree that it's better than tossing into the landfill, but if possible, thrifting and composting are a more durable and long-term solution. Especially in the US.
Pretty sturdy, however, based upon ones intended use. You can put more layers on some projects. Also, there is a way you could secure the joints of the project.
I did something similar for my cat. My cats loved it. Believe me it's stronger than it looks after all of the layers. My cat tree wasn't nearly this beautiful. But they loved it though. ❤
Saved $200 from not having to buy shelving from store. Spent $1,200 on glue, contact paper, shelving paper & many sheets of reinforced cardboard 😂. No, but seriously, you have a FANTASTIC imagination and lots of skill at creating PLANET FRIENDLY storage pieces. Wonderful Work!!
Dollar General/Tree, and Family Dollar sell tape, hot glue sticks and contact paper (which IS shelving paper) is cheap. Cardboard boxes can be had at any recycling center and store for free. Curbside picking for the backing off of furniture that is being thrown away is free. That will be great for strengthening the projects. Yard sales and resale places that operate by donated items often have crates, and odds & ends that are inexpensive.
Look nice but impractical. It's wasting time and money to make these that do not last. If children accidentally bump into it and it fall on them and cause injuries. Might as well work and earn money to buy a sturdy and low-cost shelving or cupboard.

Clever. I have always picked up solid wood furniture at thrift stores and refinished them. I have seen van life videos use lightweight cardboard to make sturdy storage. A good recycle.

Hot glue is NOT sturdy. When adding tape, and then contact paper the piece is being reinforced though. Layering cardboard w/glue layers helps but will never be a sturdy piece of furniture. The crates might last a while longer. Use caution with this construction technique if children are in the home. No climbing on it or they could pull it down on top of them. Otherwise, these creations are great low budget pieces that could do well in very dry locations with regular maintenance. Cardboard loses it's rigidity in damp or humid environments. Might want to double the glue and tape for longer lasting durability. 😉 (***DON'T USE DOLLAR STORE TAPE! IT'S AWFUL!! And the contact paper is too thin, just like the tape. All the print on the cardboard will show thru it. It also tears too easily which will add frustration and waste product. For one small piece maybe, but she is using quality wrap here and if you build one do the same. Look for car wrap bargains. They are thicker, come in super cool colors & wider widths. The will lay smooth and crisp. Cheap $1 store contact paper will show every ridge of that cardboard.)

I mean... It won't last as long. I don't understand putting this kind of time and energy into something that will fall apart in 5 seconds. Maybe a couple weeks of you're really gentle with it. What are you going to put on those small left side shelves? Underwear? Even enough light stuff will overwhelm the hot glue seal and pop them off. It's a waste of time and effort and creativity to do this and have nothing to show for it years down the line.

Everything this lady did is awesome! However, the one change I am going to make is the glue. I'm going to use gorilla glue or something from home Depot for cardboard! This video was so good and so creative! I'm never going to throw out cardboard again!! 😂
