  • Love and Deepspace has many ups especially with the update for 2.0. However will the Devs continue on this winning streak or fall back to old ways of handling their marketing?

    If they closed global servers due to lack of funding, that would be my worst nightmare 😩 I really wish they would stop neglecting their global audience, because it really feels like we’re an afterthought since they do so much in CN.

      It really does make me sad seeing all the global fans wish they were treated fairly because a game like this comes once in a blue moon for a majority of global players smh

    It's definitely a possibility for global servers to close or for it to at least merge with SEA & JP servers. Love and Deepspace's biggest problems are marketing outside of CN and the stamina system.
    The resource grind is terrible because of stamina. I can't even hit the 300 stamina cap for dailies and events, let alone go out of my way to go grind anything.
    Ontop of that, we can't even hoarde stamina pots properly because most of the ones we obtain expire.
    Stamina is a big problem that holds the game back imo.
    After that, it's really just the marketing. Even for 2.0, while I appreciate the effort they're putting in social media, I think it would make waves globally if they did public stunts or events in the U.S. and Japan by renting billboards and advertising slots like Wuthering Waves did in Times Square and major spots in Japan.
    If that's too expensive to afford for them, then maybe they can at least do events or have a booth of some sort at major anime conventions.
    I don't even get advertisements of the game on youtube. It just feels like, if you know the game exists already, the social media activity is great. But I don't see it going outside of the fanbase to capture new players.
    And a roadmap would be nice. But even if they wanted to keep the next banners a surprise, I think it's still important to drop hints and give players something to be excited about. Once we have 2.0, then what? There's nothing else on the horizon to be excited for anymore.
    So they really need to improve their marketing skills for outside of CN and they really need to figure something out for drip marketing to keep people talking about their game.
    Anyway, 😊 Great video as usual. Thanks for speaking out about Love and Deepspace. I really hope more people do the same and that our concerns can reach the devs somehow. 🙏

      Great comment as usual! Hahaha! I really do appreciate your input on my videos! It's my hope that more global players speak out about this. There isn't a social presence for this game because most gamers won't play an otome game to begin with. And unfortunately games get quite a lot of eyes on their games through youtubers nowadays. And I saw quite a few vtubers check out Sylus lately so I'm just hoping it'll pick up and stay that way for a while. But thank you again for your comment and support! It really does mean a bunch

      Did you ever checked GLOBAL revenues the past months? They make an ridiculous amount of Money compared to some other gacha games that's beeing existing for so long. Like what kind of drugs are you people taking? Absolute serious question.

      @juli99329 Hiya thanks for your comment! On a global scale LADS doesnt actually make that much. In china, yeah it makes quite a lot but globally... well if u watch at 1:45 I cover this topic. Also I linked Gacha Revenue in my description box if you wanna check it out yourself. The info I found there is what inspired this video 😊 if you still have questions please let me know or if you have more resources to share to correct me please send them my way! Thanks a bunch!

    This is my personal, ignorant opinion but from all the gacha I played, LADS is the one that feels more marketed toward the chinese players. This of course is not a bad thing (it's a chinese company after all) but from what i can see global players don't have the same patience as our asian friends (regarding minimal stamina, slow main story updates etc.)
    I say asian and not just chinese because i think it's the same as with anime, a lot of people don't have the patience to wait 3 months for a 1.30 hour season compared to the netflix all in one format.

      @caprichaos หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Also I agree with you regarding the global marketing issue, but looking at photos from the convention in China the whole 'boys behind glasses' felt a bit dystopian to me lol
      I'm not judging anyone, but personally I wouldn't go to one of those events even if it was 10 minutes away from home bc the whole thing made me a little uncomfortable 😣

    • @Gacha_Goblin
      @Gacha_Goblin  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@caprichaos hahaha! that's completely valid! I do believe they're set up like that so they don't get mobbed by fans. It's to protect the cosplayers hahaha But you're completely right. This game is 100% China prioritized. Even if they don't explicitly say it, their actions in how they market and what features they add make that very clear. Otherwise, why do so many global players complain online about these issues.
      Although I'm not sure claiming that the Chinese player base are more patient so to say... just based off the revenue of the game, I'm sure more people are willing to spend for the battle pass, resources and pulls more there which helps level you up much faster. It's unreasonable to believe that the money Papergames make solely in china is from whales pulling on banners alone. So that's just my own speculation. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But from what I know, it's just harder to coax an American audience to do the same because in actuality, its unfair to have game systems that force you into doing so or make you feel obligated to invest money anyway. The fact of the matter is, is that LADS isn't structured in a balanced way were player time investment is equal to player resources and rewards.

    At least MLQC ( globar server) had reached 5 y anniv. Their ( paper game)mistakes is why they launched MLDD ( SEA server) in the first place.

  • @Midna78
    @Midna78 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    Dood, the game is only 6 months old. No one knows what's their plans for the first year or afterwards. Why don't you just wait and see instead of dooming everything?
    Papergames is not a company that gives up easily. Look at MLQC - the game alone is in its 7th year now.
    Only devs know whether or not they do global events - and I don't mean just America (as they already do), but also Europe.
    Of course it's bigger in CN, every game that comes from there is...

    • @Gacha_Goblin
      @Gacha_Goblin  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey I really do appreciate your comment but I have to disagree. The reason why Papergames created the subcompany Infold was to reach an international audience. They established branches in various cities such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul, and Taipei. Their goal was for "Infold Games to actively seek cooperation with renowned global enterprises and talents to promote the development of the entertainment industry." If this was their goal in creating their bby company, then why aren't they taking care of their global market from the beginning? Yes, its been only 6 months since launch but that just means they're 6 months behind on potential revenue and market value if they had marketed their game properly from the beginning, even before launch.
      Just a recent example is Wuthering Waves that rented out Times Square and had an American tour just to advertise their game prior to launch. If the devs prioritized their global market in LADS, then they would have caused some sort of ripple in the gacha and otome community.
      As for MLQC, you have a very good point that it's in its 7th year. However the level of behind the scenes work that goes into animating 3D Love Interests vs. 2D ones is much lower and is therefore much cheaper. MLQC while still requires a lot of their own devs, doesn't accurately represent the investment of time and money that LADS requires to reach the same quality. LADS is such an expensive project with a demanding audience that could do so much better if they just marketed their game and optimized player experience for longer player retention.

    While I agree they should spread their advertisements more to anime and geek conventions I also think the problem is the particular wants from western gacha players. A lot of the stuff western players want deters on what the otome genre offers (choosing your gender, having BL) and of course a lot of people being F2P.
    I think some of these people are young and don't understand what the Otome or even gacha genre represents and they put up a lot of unrealistic standards on it. I've seen it countless times. You have some Fujoshi complain about there being no option to play as a male (even though otome is aimed at a straight female audience and is solely FxM romance) and then you have the F2P complain practically every single time and why they aren't getting this or that compared to P2P. I mean, the Stamina cap for F2P players is abysmal, but I feel with the Chinese audience is that they make it work with what they have.
    With global, especially westerners, they tend to ask for vastly different things and I dare say...are a bit greedy to some degree. I could tell a lot of people who played this game that this is their first gacha because the amount of constant complaints was practically every day. Now I'm not saying some of their complaints weren't valid (the dire need for more main story content, more ways to earn Diamonds is a couple of them) but some of them, and I don't mean to offend, just downright stupid (like choosing your gender...like...it's Otome...having BL, being solely F2P). It just got annoying sometimes to visit otome subreddits and hear the same complaints from people who didn't respect the genre or were too stingy to at least get the Aurum pass.
    I feel like these games need to get a higher age rating (though I doubt this will prevent a lot of young people do download it). A lot of the people have no impulse control and tend to blow away their money on these games without thought or strategy.
    I just think at this point, the only way to advertise this is through Vtubers or conventions. Bombarding you with TH-cam ads when a lot of people have adblockers, isn't going to work really.
    It would be a true travesty if PaperGames decided to end the global server. This is one of if not the best otome games I've played. I would be truly pissed off and sadden if it came to that.

      @Vampirella2999 I totally agree. It seems Western players don't understand or care what gacha and otome games entail. I've seen many posts demanding that they be able to choose their gender in an otome game is ridiculous. I've even commented on one and explained to them what the otome genre is and how having that option would effect it and they still thought they choose add it just for the sake of being inclusive.
      One thing that I've noticed from the f2p Western audience is that they aren't willing to spend like at all lol. Not even for the aurum pass or the promise which are good deals and will help a lot. In their mind paying for the promise is just "paying for a 4 star" and it's not worth it to them. Even though you don't just get the 4 star you get pulls and resources and a cosmetic item. They also give you ample amount of days to complete it. I stick to one LI and i buy both passes along with the diamonds i earn from playing and have been able to get all my LI limited memories. They just want to have the benefits of p2p without spending a dime. Anybody who plays gacha should already know these games are geared towards people spending money on them and if they don't want to spend money they are just going to have struggle a bit. I think the Chinese audience understand that very well and like you said they just make it work or they open their wallets.
      Honestly, with otome being a niche genre and how the Western mindset is with gacha games I don't think uping their marketing would help much. If anything it'll just bring in an audience they don't want. Which in all honesty is my biggest worry.

    • @Vampirella2999
      @Vampirella2999 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BlackumaGamesStreams The game is already somewhat inclusive, as in for the first time ever in an otome game, you can choose the race of your MC to your liking instead of it being a light-skinned Asian girl. Apparently those people haven't figured that out...
      The only other inclusivity they can do is have a dark-skinned male LI but I doubt they'll do that considering the beauty standards in Asia and it's made by a Chinese dev. Changing the gender of the MC and putting BL content will not make it an Otome. Some people have said that putting those options could be easily ignored but yet I wonder if I asked those same people if it's ok to put a Female MC option in a BL game would that be easily ignored as well? I doubt it. I know they would raise hell on the Devs for it. So why is it ok to do that with Otome games that are aimed for a Hetero audience to begin with, a female hetero audience that rarely ever gets quality content, since Waifus dominate everything for the male hetero audience..
      This is why I have a problem with Fujoshis joining the fandom because they will bombard every social media aspect of it with BL content. I'm not into BL content at all. They have their own games and that's fine, as they should. But I just get annoyed when everytime an Otome game releases they start flooding the Devs social media accounts complaining on why they don't include BL and can't change the gender of the MC which goes against every aspect of Otome. Everytime I've seen Fujoshis in a fandom I see constant accusations of Homophobia towards non-BL players from them. I don't want that to be a thing in this fandom especially with all the tribalism going on between the different guys fandoms.
      The F2P are extremely thrifty to the point where in some way P2P are paying them to access the free content. Aurum Pass and Secret Promise are a bargain yet they make it a badge of honor that they haven't contributed not one dime to the funding to this game, which live and die by monetization. They have so many unreasonable demands as well. The constant complaining about why P2P get this or that. The whining on why they can't get a specific card. The whining when they pull for ALL of the LIs knowing that they're F2P and that it's literally impossible to get all the LIs cards while being F2P unless you have incredible luck, which no one has.
      I don't think any type of advertising will help the game much since it's so niche. In the West BL content reigns supreme compared to Otome. I mean, there's Otomes from years ago like Tokimeki Memorial and the Angelique series that have never been translated to the West but yet the ones that are are constantly criticized in not adhering to Western standards that go against the genre itself. It's frustrating.
