I really like the way you narrate over the top of the video When you watch other toy hunts and they don't explain what they're looking at I find it hard to stay interested. 👍🤘
The people in the Armor It's from an anime called Saint Seiya or Knights of the Zodiac. And their line of action figures is called Cloth Myth.

@@DisplayingModelBehaviour If you want to try this line, I suggest you either get a Cloth Myth 1.0, like Seiya 1.0 or Jabu, or get the golden knight responsible for your sign. (EX: I'm a cancer sign, so my knight is the Death Masks).
Tell you what - I bloody love a look at those old retro/on card figures, or second hand figures - because the japanese take care of them so well! Loved my time in Book-Offs and other second hand shops.

So glad you finally did this! Definitely do more! Japanese toy stores just look amazing, always fun to see inside of one. There's a nice healthy mix of stuff too. Some of it, like the SHF Playstation Spidey, I'd snap up so fast if I was there! The prices are actually reasonable next to the insane amounts imports go for over here, even when second-hand.
The anime action figures are interesting, because a lot of it seems hyper-focused on older stuff like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, One Piece, and Naruto, so if you want to get into anime, it's hard to recommend anything to watch, because most that era of anime was infamous for being *very* stretched out thanks to filler. (One Piece is still going and likely avoids this now, but the start of it definitely has this problem.) I couldn't see any of the figures based on newer stuff in this video, like Spy X Family or Jujutsu Kaisen, which is a bit odd. Though I'm not sure how into those designs you would be anyway. Spy X Family is great, though.

So you asked audience for feedback on what genres we most enjoyed. I really liked everything but would not prefer a focus on the “girls gone anime” personally. Not knocking it, I’m as red blooded as anyone but one of the things I genuinely enjoy about your content is that is even keeled and safe for having on around the house (and my kids). Thank you for this video. Very informative and fun. Now I know another place to visit when I am in Japan other than Akihabara in Tokyo. Just like you, I was at awe on the displays of toys in many toy shops, particularly those which piqued my interest - Transformers and Super Robots. With your video, I am now very excited to go back to Japan and do a toy hunt again of the toys that played a huge part during my formative years as a child.
Akihabara (And Tokyo in general) is undoubtedly great but honestly a little overrated. Osaka is where it’s at!
I hope you tour more local comic/action figure shops in your area. The ones you showed us looked great. I could get lost for days just looking at what they had in stock.

I made it out to Osaka this weekend taking my son to USJ. Only had time to stop by Yodobashi Camera but was shocked at the amazing selection. Gonna have to go back when I’ve got more time to explore. What was your favorite store?

Good to see you adjusting to life in Japan. Since you are not knowledgeable in Japanese animation, just show some cool stuff you see in stores. But definitely any Japanese stylized Marvel or Star Wars or TMNT and stuff that are not in Western stores. Mix it up and variety! Have fun in Japan!

Unexpectedly, my favorite part of this video, and I liked the whole thing, was the part with the old toys from McFarlane and the old Marvel toys, and then I was looking those up again afterwards. I also looked up some of the nice Figuarts that I hadn't paid attention to before like the Thor and I didn't know about the Taskmaster but that looked really nice. The price being the same as Marvel Legends prices is just amazing and shows how badly we are getting ripped off when they are able to sell those beautiful figures for around the same price there, and we're getting ripped off on how much they cost us here too. If someone can save a lot of money somehow and make a huge amount of purchases there, it would be a great way to get a lot of figures for much more reasonable prices than they end up in the U.S.A. or elsewhere, even ordering from Japan the import costs and stuff end up making it even worse than the initial prices, though I had some alright deals when I was shopping through someone living in Japan who would then ship me the stuff.
I liked the whole video and would like a lot more of these, with a lot more detail into everything. There wasn't as much totally weird and unusual stuff as I might have liked, it was stuff I had seen a lot of before except some of the anime girl statues.
If you could find a shop with a lot of strange older things, I'd even be happy to see antiques and museum type stuff lol. This was great though, I had missed this video and noticed it on the side bar, and I'd like a lot more videos where you travel through, I really feel like I'm there, and I've definitely been to shops like that in Hawaii and even Vancouver B.C., both of which at times have areas and shops with a lot of Japanese style and influence (and products), and it was nice to see that again. It was nice to see some of the things I've ordered but haven't unboxed and things that only have photos on Big Bad Toy Store that don't show how they look in person, but amazingly I felt happiest looking back at the very old toys and seeing how much I liked those haha.
So I wished for more in-depth looks at more unusual things that I haven't seen before, to see the prices of everything clearly, to see the displays and items that I might be interested in buying piece for piece in detail as to how they look in person or on camera on display, and finally to see a lot more old things, including old things I haven't heard about, vintage stuff, antique stuff, I might even like to look at old Japanese book cover art and paintings and posters if there is a shop with those, because I love a lot of their art that was made for older film posters and stuff like that too! A shop with art books that you might be able to buy cheaply or flip through somehow, maybe you might even do well visiting a library there and flipping through art books that I might not see otherwise.
The old McFarlane toys are absolute classics. I love looking through those.

Anyway I'd be interested in seeing more about anime figures. Not necessarily hentai/sexy figures - though I wouldn't complain 😂 - but something more unusual from Ghost in The Shell, Akira, Evangelion, Macross and whatever else looks cool and are not well known in the west 😃
And more old school figures. They look brand new and are so good to feed the nostalgia of us growing up back then 😆

How can I get a job in Japan?
It was easy, I just spent 25 years working as an actor and stunt man until finally I applied for a job and they hired me :) Seriously though a lot of people apply to the TEFL program which is teaching English abroad. You might want to look in to that. It's a great way to work and travel.
