I am a huge fan of The Stone Roses and Oasis if that wasn't obvious but as big and iconic as they were The Verve blows them out of the water as a live band. How The Verve didnt become a worldwide phenomenon is beyond me. This gig has always been unbelievable.
Was at this concert staid at boozer outside train station duck goose think called .seen ashcroft 2 times in glasgow. Not patch without jones mcabe. Pods cast tell egos truths...
McCabe is god, alongside Bernard Butler & Jonny Greenwood. Butler is punkier, almost Hendrix-esque (Suede died in my eyes after he left), JG is progier...McCabe is..yeah perhaps no1. What he does with that guitar. Wow.
Just bought myself a nice Christmas present and got the Urban Hymns the cd DVd box set which comes with this whole concert! Fucken can't wait to blast it on my speaker!
I’m a Christian Verve fan and I agree 100% 🙏🏻 God put some astonishing musical talent into these men, and in songs like this one you can really hear His spiritual influence shine through - whether the band realised it or not! ✝️
@@stevenohenries5127 Same. Always wished I had met some Christians that had talent to make music this good. Never understood why saved Christians can't even come close to making the best music. I saw Verve 3 times in the 90's when I was a young Christian, and stuff like early Verve, early Spiritualized, Slowdive's Pygmalion, Seefeel, and some ambient like Global Communication, or Sun Electric's 30.7.94 Live is worship music to me. Never liked Chistian music.
@@bibsma3401 I recommend listening to the track “Feel” by Christian rock band The Violet Burning. They’re influenced by The Verve, Spiritualized, Radiohead among others, amazing band! 🙏🏻✝️
8.02, I was there, a few rows back from the front, one of the best if not THE best moment at any gig I've been to.. Felt like transcending and being high.. same with parts of the 1997 Reading headline set too.. ❤
Trank you @Jesahel for bringing that biblical live performance back to us! This day 2 piece at Haigh Hall was online some years ago and I‘m very very happy to see ist again!!! 🥳🥳🥳
I think it may be to do with the love / hate relationship they had with Wigan. They formed in 1990 and RA said they couldn’t get arrested for years in Wigan, they felt like they didn’t have much home town support. So this gig, at their world conquering peak, had an element of ‘we told you we were this good for years’.

How do those 5 lads make this fucken much noise and rock the whole fucken stadium. Fucken brilliant
Fuck yeah. Forgot how it good it felt to watch them live in the the 90's
Masterpiece!!!! COME ON!!!!
What a performance. I keep coming back to this. Pete and Nick on another planet. They were incredible
the energy richard as a vocalist in this song is incredible
I will never ever get bored of this absolute masterclass. Different level.
I realised today that I was 14 when I heard this on the radio. I was obsessed. Nick McCabe jamming is the best thing in the world
Same!! He is the most brilliant and criminally underrated guitar players ever.
SO true mate! 100%

He was unreal

What a band them first 3 records are just unbelievable i mean even fourth is good but fuck me nick mccabe is a genius and salisbury on the drums
My personal God that Voice heals me 🙏🏻 Mr Richard Ashcroft !
Il est formidable ,grandiose,un magicien de la musique ❤❤❤
The Verve are just mind blowing!!! Nick McCabe!!!!
One of my favourite ever Verve tracks! The bass line is awesome! Just so powerful!
The speeding up and coming back to the base rhythm at the drums, starting with minute 4, is brilliant!
Incredible. The whole track is epic but the coda riffing on Sly and The Family Stone just takes it to another level.
Unreal day that! 25 years ago! Was only 15 when I went to that! Absolutely mind blowing!
One of life’s real tragedies - not hearing Nick McCabe at work anymore in full flow
That bassline!!! 👌
man those guitars
Awesome true artists, every single one of them, timeless legendary band. Music passed down to my son now.
This is what a worship service should be like ❤

Goddamn I cannot imagine
Do you realise how lucky you are?
As bands go, they were on a different level. Simply amazing. ❤
Gives me the chills 👂😁😂👏
2:55 is what a freaking Les Paul and amp turned all the way up. What a sound.
This is such great stuff! You can see how the band practiced for long and now play their songs live. Amazing!

Grandissimi anche dal vivo . McCabe impressionante.
