Garage band sims are great, usually though I find interfaces don’t get the impedance quite right. So something feels off in the responsiveness to attack and volume. Would love to see some interface shootouts with different sims to test that out.
Watched a video about keeping the input volume on the interface right down. The amp sim takes care of the gain)input level! It's all calculated. It means you're not distorted before you hit the amp. Try it. Changed my life😅
One thing I’ve found to really help with this issue is trying out different cabinet IRs, sometimes they can help get a squishier response that feels more natural to play through
I always find it funny how many hit songs have guitars that are recorded thru a UA Apollo twin with Logic/GarageBand amp and effects sims. One cool thing I think a lot of beginners don’t know, is you can actually open all your GarageBand sessions in logic, and most of the plugins are the same if not a slightly simplified version. So GarageBand is a great DAW to start with, because it also teaches you how to use most of the features of Logic when you want to upgrade.
Dont sleep on the Ableton one's either. They're older and less updated, but do the job if you need it. You can also pair them with many free amp and cab sims to extend the sound.
It’s funny, coincidentally, a friend of mine and I were just messing around with some of my recording equipment recently and we opened GarageBand just to try some things out. We both felt the same way; some of the amps are pretty usable just the way they are.
I use GarageBand to make demos and it’s great! Sure, there’s better stuff out there. But it’s pretty amazing what you can do with an old iPhone or iPad.
@@PabloMars99Apple is the name brand of the software and the device it’s running on and Orange is a name brand of guitar amplifier, so… yeah… literally. I get the fact that maybe you’re aware of those name brands and maybe you’re just being a stickler, though something tells me you wouldn’t challenge them if they’d said “literally comparing Apples to Marshalls.”
I feel that digital amps for quite a long time have really been able to nail edge of breakup tones, high level distortion is usually hit or miss though, and unlike real amps, there is a lot of adjustment that needs to be made before even turning a dial on a virtual amp, probably part of the reason why people prefer real amps, despite vsts sounding great.
Neural DSP is the only company I can think of that mastered the plug-and-play feel of a real amplifier. Everything else I’ve used requires meticulous amounts of playing with mic positions, post EQ, and finding the right distortion sound.
@@BradsGonnaPlay That's good to know. It does sound great from everything I've heard, but wasn't sure if the price premium was justified in terms of QoL. Cheers
@@arsenalfanrichi I’m no sales rep, but if one catches your eye, I highly recommend picking it up. They all have free trials. Also I’ve never bought one that wasn’t at least half off because they do a few sales of that magnitude per year so I always do “2 for 1” for myself. I think Black Friday is the next half off sale. Cheers to you as well!
I think that there is a big difference in hearing them and actually playing them. When I use them, they are lacking something in the feel department, but when I listen back, they sound fine.
I mean, i thought the tone in this video was dog water. I’m a diehard Logic stock advocate, but not for their amp sims. They have *literally thousands* of good, usable stock options from synths, to orchestral, to mix plug-ins, but these amp sims do not play or respond like a real amplifier at all. In fact, I just went back to a project I did in 2019 with logic stock amps and the second I changed them out for Neural DSP’s Tone King amp, my mix went from sounding like an amateur mix to a properly tracked performance. All that harsh 700-2.5khz in Logic’s amps are unusable for my taste.

Speaking of 'Sims' I haven't played *_that_* in well over a decade

Apparently Tom Misch has used the Apple amp sims for a while on some of his stuff
yeahh it’s super dope! up until his geography record used the old logic pro amp sim. really shows that it’s all in the fingers.
Glad to see you with all these strats lately. 😊
I’ve been using these in my music for years now, it’s some seriously impressive stuff!
Love what you did on the guitar! ❤

Conversely, do sleep on the FL studio ones. I think it's called hardcore, and it's utterly terrible
@@mylesstevens4367 Terrible can still be right, when you need it. Think of the HM2 legacy.

Sims vs amps is like comparing Apples to Oranges. Literally
In a room, sure. Recorded, not really
@@donkeymagicianIt was a joke, and a good one! Apple Garage Band vs Orange amplifiers 😂
Well, not literally. Have people forgotten what that word means?

Epic meze 109 pros! My favorite headphones of all time!
Brand new to Apple
Just bought an iPad
Wouldn't time to use it be cool?
That selection is currently unavailable. Backordered
Nailed it! 10/10

I do tons of demos on free GarageBand...its quick and easy
I for one CANNOT find a decent tone to save my life in Logic.
It doesnt really sound that good
Sounds awful
