    A simple homemade 3D printed detent system for the Saitek?Logitech Throttle Quadrant. Takes full advantage of X-Plane 11's new control profile editing to have Reverse, Feather, and Cutoff gates on the venerable Saitek throttle quadrant.

    My Saitek throttle quadrant actually has a 'zero position' detent that separates the upper part for forward thrust and the lower part for reverse thrust. But I am converting it into A320 throttles and your solution is brilliantly simple when it comes to dealing with the need to 'lift' the reverser handles in order to be able to engage reverse thrust. Thank so much for sharing your ingenious idea!

    You could also use an adhesive putty like Blu Tack to fix the stops on the base instead of screws. I've found it holds very well after a few minutes and allows you to move or remove the stop easily. I use it a lot when I want to fix two objects together but want the option to do it nondestructively.

    Buy the Throttle &Yoke from Logitech, its the Saitek one relabled, and it hast that detend/reverse catch
    No need to cut or drill holes

    Would be great to see an adaptation of this for turbo props that have a clear beta range (for taxi) and reverse thrust. Great idea and video!

    as a DIY'er, I'd make it out of plastic sheets and cut the four sides and use crazy glue or an epoxy... but once you've shown this to "the world" some controller Corp or add-on Co. has probably already applied for a patent. It also would be difficult to add a return spring to your idea. I have not decided what type of simulator I want to fly yet, ie, WWII or Commercial... but isn't there also a connecting bar/gate between dual throttles so that you can't accidentally unbalance R/L thrust? you could create some kind of sliding pin/bar to lock your throttles in sync.

    • @rbarlow
      @rbarlow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually most of my designs are stolen and used by Etsy sellers who 3D print and sell. A patent is too expensive to defend for me so that's just the way it is. I wouldn't want the throttles connected since at times like an engine failure you need to use the throttles separately. You can set the sim up to control all engines on a single throttle id you like though.

    • @HOWNDOG66
      @HOWNDOG66 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there’s another issue with locking the levers together and that’s, although the levers are equal, the engines may not preform equally

    Can you incorporate some sort of downward force on the 3D printed pseudo reverse unlock levers? Maybe a little pen spring or something that way there is some tactile feel and that way you can feel some force required to lift them over the detent. This is great

    • @rbarlow
      @rbarlow  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angelo Cosma it is possible but for me the slight weight of the levers provide enough resistance. I also didn’t want to alter the throttle too much. If you do make such a mod let me know how it works (send a picture or video) but I have been happy with mine as is.

    • @rbarlow
      @rbarlow  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rund ums Fliegen yes but that “detent” is only a Switch that can be programmed as single action. I used to set it to reverse thrust which gave full un-modulated. With the detent X-Plane 11 allows you to divide the pot range to a modulated forward and reverse thrust range. Much more realistic. The switch detent at the bottom of the lever range is still available for a switch assignment if desired

    • @Rundumsfliegen
      @Rundumsfliegen 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, ditn't know You can Set a Reverse Thrust range. (Still stuck in FSX, i Just programmed the "Button detent" as "decrease Trust" Standard is F2) XP11 is in fact mutch more realistic.
