I've been thinking about moving to miami for a long time now. This video cut my research time in half and is so inspirational. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to make this video for us
I lived in Miami for a year as a child; It was the happiest time of my life. I’m 18 now and dying to go back, haha. Anyway, I appreciate the advice, brotha!
I have been living here since 1999 and only once I had to go to my mother home in Boca Raton because I live on the beach. But yes many people do have to leave their homes
My cousin found a 2-bedroom, newly renovated apartment in Miami, near the Miami Dade College for only $1,1000. So for those of you who don't believe what Hans is saying, maybe look harder? I live in the Bronx and plan on moving with her as soon as possible. Super nervous but excited.
This is really on the cheap side. I've lived in Miami since 2011. I've had single bedroom apts in Kendall (suburb of Miami) Ive paid between $1,400 and $1,700/month for the apartments. That's nothing fancy. Cable and internet is about $120/month. Electricity is like $75/month. Car insurance $140/month. Tolls like $50/month. Car payment (varies) Groceries (varies) Entertainment (varies but is expensive in Miami..drinks and lunch for 2 on south beach? $120 easy) My suggestion..move further north like Orlando or the West Coast of FL, way cheaper!
Hey Weekend I 100% agree with your numbers. Those numbers and examples I made are at the cheapest cost but realistic ones. But your numbers are 100% accurate as well.
But it says it cost ummary of cost of living in Miami, Florida. Family of four estimated monthly costs: $5,543. Single person estimated monthly costs: $3,302
My family and I visited Miami in February this year and the traffic wasn't incredibly horrific from what I can remember. But I remember always having to pay for parking and we stayed mostly in the Miami beach area. Great video by the way!
Thanks so much Adalis! how did you enjoy Miami Beach? I actually have a video that talks about how Miami beach is my favorite neighborhood in all of Miami.
Living In Miami I love Miami Beach! Unfortunately it was a rainy weekend so we didn’t get to enjoy the beach. But it also isn’t my first time staying there or going to Miami. When I was younger we would go to Miami all the time! I hope to visit again after this pandemic
Great! video. You gave a realistic view of the area. Please, make a video on all the places in Miami that anyone can walk to everything, without needing a car. Thanks
Why is Miami so expensive? is the weather mainly? some parts of Miami even the so called nice parts are bit rundown and rough looking and does justify prices there
yea true. I mean its a top world destination, it has tons of super good things about it, I've traveled the states and dont think I can live in too many other places.
miami is expensive cause normal inflation rate but in miami instead of inflation of wages going up too companies want to pay low wages because we are the last southern state and cause a whole bunch of illegal immigrants come here to work for those low wages thinking it's way way better then their country which is why wages are so low hope the new 15 dollar minimum wage helps drive career wages up after that
Miami beach and other areas has studios for $1000, but of course not the best/ most updated. This is just a low budget living scenario but its 100% realistic.
I’ve lived in Miami my whole life, and recently helped my relative move and that seems unrealistic within Miami dade county. This seems like right on the poverty line, and prices have only gone higher. You should definitely look at current rental prices on your own.
I have to agree with the poster ,a quick search gave me 30 studios in miami Beach for under $1000 .just remember that companies don't pay shit in florida.
Hey man! I live in Nashville, and I’m considering the same. My uncle has been in Miami for 20+ years now. I love it there. Message me if you want to connect on LinkedIn or something. I’m about to purchase a place and will be looking for a roommate!
Wow, no wonder San Francisco, LA suffers so much from homelessness, you can work but to pay 2k to almost 4k a month for rent is simply ridiculous... Yet, the govement doesn't allow for rent control or any form of relief for hard working people...
@@LivingInMiami Hi! Just different situations like is it better to take your car or take an uber if you go to the beach, going out at night is it better uber or car, different situation like that, in general how much is the difference between just riding Ubers or having a car, thanks!
Here in Minneapolis I had a tiny studio that was only about 400 sq ft and I paid $900 a month. The costs seem really similar. The price of living is going up every where. The food here where it's always cold is also the most expensive I've ever experienced in my life. Looking to get out of these long winters. 😭
Hi thanks for your video . I’m a single mom looking forward to moving down there soon . This definitely gave me an idea of the amount of funds I’ll need . Which areas are more kid friendly or family oriented? Would I be better off getting a condo?
hey! im glad this video helped, keep in mind this is all on the lower end of things because live in Miami can get more expensive but im sure you got an idea. Hmm.. family oriented may be Hollywood, Aventura, Sunny Isles, Coral Gables and a few other areas. And it really depends on what you like, a home, townhome or condo. Im thinking about migrating from The Netherlands to Miami. Im not very wealthy so I dont think a oceanfront house would be an option. But even a decent house walk distance near the beach are still expensive as fk. Im a maintenance painter and I wonder if there is work in that business around Miami?
I just moved out of Miami: Paying 2500-3000 rent, driving 2-3 hours a day for work, and having to deal with so many issues with safety, prices and people's nastiness has driven me out of there. I could not make it anymore; Miami is about to explode. I have never seen so much misery and crime. For the last 6 months, I have been seeing entire families with kids begging for change in traffic lights. Crime is off the roof and people are cramping to afford rent. 2-3 families in 2-bedroom apartments are the norm now. People rent beds for day sleepers, sofas to newcomers, and U-hauls in parking lots where people are living for 20 bucks a day. Can't even find a U-Haul to move out of there because of it. Hialeah, Cutler Bay, Naranja, Florida City, and even Kendall or Brickell are common places where you see poverty and desperation in the streets. Approach any woman anywhere and listen to them straight out asking for 200 bucks "to pay rent" in exchange for a "date". Straight up prostitution from normal working people. I worked in South Beach for the last 2 years and even there you see the decay. I know so many families moving or already moved out and full businesses leaving the area. I left almost a month ago and my boss is calling me daily to go back until they find a replacement because no one can take my job. Why? they don't pay enough, and the newcomers are all wealthy New Yorkers that won't work for him. Miami, you got what you deserve.
I´m planning to move back to miami next year, I was born there but because of certain circumstances, I grew up in Argentina. I´ve been saving for a couple of years, and still am, probably my budget would be at max 5k. Do you thing that´s an ok number to start with? Last place I lived was sweetwater. Thank you for your time.
Hey Kevin! I'm from Argentina as well and I know saving money there can be tough but I know you got this. Do you mean $5k total to start living here? like moving here with just $5k to your name?
@@LivingInMiami Thank you for responding. Yeah, as you said, saving in dollars here is a total nightmare. Right now I have 3k saved, but with some effort, I could go up to 5k. I'm planning to move to Miami to start a new life there
@@kevincurbelo4725 I'm not from Miami, so I'm not the best person to ask. But I wouldn't move to Miami with that amount of money. $5k is only a couple months worth of living. If you're moving there without a job, I can't imagine that there are any places that would rent to you. Of course, if you have family there that you can move in with that changes things.
Hey Hans, thanks for making the video. I'm a recent MLO, just curious if you think there's opportunities down there in the real estate game. My wife is Colombian, and we'd love to move to be in the beautiful sun in a deeply Hispanic community. Thanks!
Hey James! I never backpacked Miami since i always lived here. But I am guessing a hostel would be cheap and the rest is for food and going out so yeah should be fine with that! enjoy man!
12:45 - Well...My life style is cheap. I eat only raw and vegan food and use bike to go at anywhere. Take care of my "catdoughters" is the thing more expensive that I have, lolol. My hobbies are simple ike...biking tour (exploring cities), camping, play gitar, watch Netflix or Prime, reading and etc. Beside that live in a simple neighbourhood it would not be difficult to me. My actual reality it's already this way. So...I think I'd survive very well in Miami with a income around $ 2500, lololol
I have to agree with the TH-camr on this. We've been searching heavily the last couple of weeks for a place in Miami Beach and there are plenty of places within his price range. Ive noticed they look rough on the outside and then are updated and clean on the inside. Perhaps its covid that is affecting the prices I am seeing, but he's on the money with what I see on Zillow right now.
I noticed your nice dog in the video. I want to move to Miami but I hear about bsl laws. Will anyone give me a hard time with my staffy? He looks like a small pitbull. Thanks
Hello! hmmm... good question, depends on where in Miami you plan to live in. Some areas no way! you will hate your life. but some areas like; downtown, brickell, miami beach and edgewater/midtown can be fine with no car.
Yeah this comment is going to be like all the others, but as someone living in the Boston area, 250k for a condo gets you a run down 1BR/1BA. Condos in Miami even under 200k look dope. I am considering moving down there in 2022 and would be looking to buy something. Should I hit you up on your KW page?
from a Miami insider as myself?! -) Insurance is expensive, not just because bad drivers, but for State/County sanctioned INSURANCE FRAUD. -) Monaco/NY/SF rent on Florida salary?!?! Nah! as a proud Saguesero, that's why I left.
Wages in Switzerland are good and taxes are lower than in the United States. Wages in Miami Florida are cheap, I think, starting from only ten dollars, and a high living studio is more than a thousand dollars
I watched 2 of your videos. Your information is great, but the music overlay is hideous. Not watching any more. Not subscribing. If you had videos of only the talking, without the music, I could watch them all.
Thank you for this video. I live in Winter Park...Colorado! It’s a resort town but I would love to live by the beach. Other expenses to be considered are the ones related to having a pet (and it’s size, breed and age).
Living in NY for so long this is actually really affordable
Keep in mind I did this video and numbers with a cheap/affordable lifestyle. But yes compared to NYC is much less expensive.
The difference is Miami’s job market is no where as strong as NYC.
Yeah depending on your job as well though
Same I live in CA by SF and I rent a room for 1,400 bucks. yeah, Miami sounds very inexpensive.
Even Boston is more expensive, the avg rent here is 3k.

Why? they don't pay enough, and the newcomers are all wealthy New Yorkers that won't work for him.
Miami, you got what you deserve.
Making 10 to 12 dollars a hour you shouldn't even entertain going to Miami
true, unless you have bigger plans.
Living is Southern California those houses in Miami are half the price and twice the size
thats crazy I know homes overthere start at $1,000,000 for a 1 bedroom haha
Thanks!
I’m in NYC so these prices are actually REALLY good. I can get a 3 bedroom for my 1-bedroom price here 🤣
hahaha wow! 😯
Wow
I plan to bagpack Miami for 2 month on the cheap! Would 4K dollars be enough? Thanks
Hey James! I never backpacked Miami since i always lived here. But I am guessing a hostel would be cheap and the rest is for food and going out so yeah should be fine with that! enjoy man!
Are these prices still true at this time? I find the prices are much higher now.
Honestly the prices have raised a little the market is super hot right now so houses are overpriced
This is def. Manageable, especially compared to nyc. Now how the hell do i get that green card?
12:45 - Well...My life style is cheap. I eat only raw and vegan food and use bike to go at anywhere. Take care of my "catdoughters" is the thing more expensive that I have, lolol. My hobbies are simple ike...biking tour (exploring cities), camping, play gitar, watch Netflix or Prime, reading and etc. Beside that live in a simple neighbourhood it would not be difficult to me. My actual reality it's already this way. So...I think I'd survive very well in Miami with a income around $ 2500, lololol
haha nice lifestyle! yes yes you may!
Me paying 130$ for insurance for my car that’s not even full coverage 💀 in nj lol
You think that’s high come to Miami I bet you at least pay double that !!! I pay 380 a month for a bmw 340 i !!
Do you know anyone that is versed in Low Income Senior Housing in Miami/Hialeah area? Thanx❤
Hey Paloma I actually do not, but I know there are a few 55+ communities :)
The per capita wage is 24k.
thank you Belky for that!
Miami perhaps sounds atractive but really it's very expensive when You consider needs to love, the insurance is hight Not only the Rent.
This seems like a bargain today in Miami.
this wack af aint no apartments for 1k in miami. it's MINIMUM 1.5k for a decent place... luxury places r about 1800+.
Studios for $1000 do exist all over Miami, maybe not the best ones but they do, I've lived in one before in Miami Beach
Big facts. It’s not gonna be a decent place for 1k lmao
I noticed your nice dog in the video. I want to move to Miami but I hear about bsl laws. Will anyone give me a hard time with my staffy? He looks like a small pitbull. Thanks
rent went so much up since then, those numbers are outdated, crazy
True! The market is just crazy!
Would you recommend relying on public transportation for everything?
Hello! hmmm... good question, depends on where in Miami you plan to live in. Some areas no way! you will hate your life. but some areas like; downtown, brickell, miami beach and edgewater/midtown can be fine with no car.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Yeah this comment is going to be like all the others, but as someone living in the Boston area, 250k for a condo gets you a run down 1BR/1BA. Condos in Miami even under 200k look dope.
I am considering moving down there in 2022 and would be looking to buy something. Should I hit you up on your KW page?
whats up Rich! if you have facebook or Instagram add me there its better! I appreciate it
So helpful
Thanks so much dude!
One Bedroom in DC is 2200
interesting, in the best area? or average?
@@LivingInMiami average in the city, Navy Yard, Shaw or Upper Northwest it’s even higher
You forgot to tell them the quality of the apartment and the location for that price in Miami. Make that your next video. Lol.
yeah true but this is the lowest cost of living. You can not expect nothing nice or new for $1k a month. But yes I agree
As a Brit, $10 a beer strikes fear into my heart
Any normal bar its 4 or 5
LMAO
go to the strip club it's 30$ a beer
Man bro I have to move there what's the crime like I know it's horrible
Honestly I grew up in Miami and neither have I nor my friends experienced crime. I am sure there is crime like anywhere else.
@@LivingInMiami You and your friends have been blessed brother
Real talk !
That's why Miami is preferble home for retirees... a way more afforable than other major cities
That's correct! And there are really nice HOPA for a good price!
from a Miami insider as myself?!
-) Insurance is expensive, not just because bad drivers, but for State/County sanctioned INSURANCE FRAUD.
-) Monaco/NY/SF rent on Florida salary?!?! Nah!
as a proud Saguesero, that's why I left.
thank you, for the inf...
Hey Heberto! my pleasure I am glad you liked it!
In ATL u can get a lot more house for your money
im sure man! I hear ATL is good place to live
True but Atlanta has changed a lot. A one bedroom in the heart of Atlanta is ranging from 1300 and up, all because of gentrification
Where did you get prices? Housing is more expensive then ever. Unless you are looking for a location in the Everglades with alligators
This isn’t that bad at all compared to the U.K.
Thanks you! didn't know that!
Living in Los Angeles and Orange County this is super doable jeeeez
Yeah! People usually think Miami is more expensive than It really is
So cool man...
I thought living in Zurich is expensive but Miami beats all.
NYC , California and other parts of the USA are alot more pricey.
Wages in Switzerland are good and taxes are lower than in the United States. Wages in Miami Florida are cheap, I think, starting from only ten dollars, and a high living studio is more than a thousand dollars
Problem with Miami is jobs pay like shit.
I agree compared to other cities yes!
Prices sure changed alot since this video was made.
in two years the increase was noticeable
I live in Toronto. This sounds cheap. 😅
You are right Dom! Compared to other big cities, Miami is not one of the most expensive.
Thats my dream too lived and work in Miami
Hahah the key is hard working!
Yes
thanks, but you need to update your video .
Miami will take all your money if you let her. But this is Paradise bro! Hot, Humid, Sunny and Green!
Hahah that's SO true! The perfect weather for a great place ;)
I watched 2 of your videos. Your information is great, but the music overlay is hideous. Not watching any more. Not subscribing. If you had videos of only the talking, without the music, I could watch them all.
Thank you Ralph for your feedback. I will keep that in mind for future videos.
Excelente!!!👏🤝👍
Gracias Norka! Me alegro que te haya gustado! Abrazo grande!

Thank you for this video. I live in Winter Park...Colorado! It’s a resort town but I would love to live by the beach. Other expenses to be considered are the ones related to having a pet (and it’s size, breed and age).
Thanks for watching Irene! That is a expense to consider you are right!
Damn $20 for a burger??? Wth no thank you
haha 😅
