JazakAllahu Khairan Sheikh Dr Yasir Qadhi I watched this series in 2016 BEFORE I became a Muslim on June 21,2016. Now after 8 years, I am watching these videos again this November, 2024. Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhi from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Episode 27- Episode 31 Notes (Part 2 and Final. Ill repost this on Eps 29 & 30 & 31 too) The Prophet SAW initially used a tree trunk a minbar. But, eventually a proper minbar was built. This caused the tree trunk to cry, during one of the Khutbah’s that the Prophet SAW gave on the new minbar. The Prophet SAW immediately paused the Khutbah and hugged the tree trunk which, caused it to stop crying. After this event, the Prophet SAW had the tree trunk buried under the ground of his new minbar. The five daily Salaahs were changed during this early period, from all being two Rakaats, to how they exist now. Also, during this period, Abdullah Ibn Zayd RA had a dream of the Azaan. Abdullah Ibn Zayd RA told the Prophet SAW this dream and the Prophet SAW confirmed it and told him to teach Bilal RA the Azaan. Thus, kickstarting the era of calling Muslims to prayer via the Azaan. Fun Trivia fact: The story of the spider web covering the Cave of Thawr is authentic but, there is a slight weakness within its chain. Furthermore, the stories of a tree leaning over the cave and two birds nesting at the entrance, are okay to narrate. But, they do have massive gaps in their narrations. Fun Trivia fact: Abu Bakr RA was so worried for the safety of the Prophet SAW during the Hijrah, that he kept going to SAW’s front, back and sides. Fun Trivia fact: Abu Bakr RA is the only Sahabi, that Allah SWT directly affirmed in the Qur’an as being a Sahabi. Fun Trivia fact: Abdullah Ibn Urayqit was pagan at the time of the Hijrah. Fun Trivia fact: 4-5 People accepted Islam during the Hijrah itself. Fun Trivia fact: White lies are allowed in Islam for a reason. Fun Trivia fact: In a Hadith the Prophet SAW stated that “Whoever calls Medina as Yathrib should say Astagfirullah” meaning Medina is the name that should be used. Fun Trivia fact: Both Allah SWT and The Prophet SAW refer to Medina as Medina. In fact Allah SWT calls it Medina in Surah At-Tawbah. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW referred to Medina in three ways mainly. 1. Al Medina which means The City, 2.Taybah and 3.Tabah which both mean pure. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW said that Mount Uhud loves the Muslims and that it is a Mountain of Jannah. Fun Trivia fact: There are only two Haram’s in Islam. Makkah and Medina. The rewards for praying in Masjid Al Nabawi are better than 1000 prayers in any other mosque. Praying in Masjid Al Haram is 100,000 times better than praying in any other mosque. Jerusalem is not a Haram. Fun Trivia fact: Makkah was the first Mosque ever built for worship on Earth. It has been holy since Allah SWT created the Heavens and the Earth. But, it was Ibrahim AS who declared its holiness. Fun Trivia fact: Whoever dies in Medina, will have the Prophet SAW as an intercessor for him. Fun Trivia fact: Jannat Al Baqi is the most blessed graveyard on Earth. Over 10,000 Sahabah are buried there, including nine wives of the Prophet SAW and his son Ibrahim and Uthman Ibn Affan RA. Fun Trivia fact: To bring an army or weapons into Makkah is not allowed. Makkah is so sacred that you cannot even pluck grass or leafs within it. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW is a second cousin to the Banu Khazraj through Abdul Muttalib whose mother, Salma, was a Khazraji. Fun Trivia fact: The Banu Aws and Banu Khazraj were Qahtani Arabs that came to Medina from Yemen after the collapse of the famous Marib Dam. Fun Trivia fact: The Jinn built Suliman AS temple which was the first Jewish Temple. This was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar. Fun Trivia fact: The Jews were expelled from Jerusalem twice. The first time after Nebuchadnezzar destroyed their temple. The second time after the Romans under Emperor Titus, destroyed their second temple. The Second temple was built by King Herod. Fun Trivia fact: Medina had three famous Jewish tribes. The Banu Nadir, Banu Qaynuqa and Banu Qurayza. Fun Trivia fact: There were some Muslims who out of fear of persecution, did not make Hijrah and thus were on the side of the Quraysh during the Battle of Badr. Which meant that some of them, were killed by Muslims who did not know of their Islam. Fun Trivia fact: The Hijrah was made Fardh for all Muslims and this included those Muslims who converted to Islam in Makkah, after the Prophet SAW had made Hijrah. However, were exceptions made for those who were genuinely weak. Fun Trivia fact: Making Hijrah itself was later abrogated by the Prophet SAW himself after the Conquest of Makkah. Fun Trivia fact: In Islam it is allowed to dig up graves and bury them somewhere else for legitimate reasons. Fun Trivia fact: Masjid Nabawi had three main entrances and a multitude of private entrances for those who had built a house next door to it. Abu Bakr RA and Aisha RA were two people who had built their houses next to the Masjid meaning they had private entrance’s into Masjid Nabawi. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW stated that, had he not hugged the tree trunk, it would have wept until the Day of Judgement. Fun Trivia fact: The Green Dome of the Masjid Nabawi hasn’t always been green. It has been white, black, yellow and dozen other colours throughout history. Fun Trivia fact: During the various renovations of Masjid Nabawi, in the time of Al Walid I. One of the walls of the house of Aisha RA had collapsed and the feet of Umar RA were exposed to the people and they hadn’t decomposed at all. Fun Trivia fact: Masjid Nabawi was the first Masjid built and completed by the Prophet SAW. It is also the first Masjid built in Islam. Masjid Quba had its foundations laid by the Prophet SAW before Masjid An Nabawi was built. But Masjid Quba was not completed by the Prophet SAW but, rather by the Sahabah. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW would pray every Monday in Masjid Quba. The Prophet SAW stated that whoever does Wuhdu in their house and then prays in Masjid Quba, will gain the reward of doing an entire Umrah. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW did not pray Jummah at all until SAW made Hijrah. So, the Sahabah RA in Medina were praying Jummah for about 1 year, before the Prophet SAW arrived and then prayed and began leading Jummah. Fun Trivia fact: The First Jummah that the Prophet SAW ever led was neither in Masjid Quba or Masjid Al Haram. It was led in an area half way between Medina and Quba. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW’s Khutbah’s used to be three to five minutes in duration. But, SAW salaah was much longer. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW built two Masjids in Medina before he even built his own home. Fun Trivia fact: As the years in Medina went by. There were at least a dozen Masjids during the time of Prophet SAW. But Masjid An Nabawi was the central one. Fun Trivia fact: In the Prophet SAW time, the Masjid became the home for Muslims who had no homes to live in. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW predicted the death of Amar Ibn Yasir RA during this early Madani Period. This prediction was later used to show that Ali RA was closer to the truth than Mu’awiya RA. Fun Trivia fact: Umar Ibn Khattab RA also had the dream of the Azaan and he confirmed it to the Prophet SAW when he heard Bilal RA calling it for the first time. Fun Trivia fact: Whoever prays the 12 Sunnah Rawatib/Muakkadah each day. Allah SWT will build a palace for them in Jannah. Fun Trivia fact: Allah SWT decreed that the year would have 12 Months when he created the Heavens and the Earth. This is mentioned in the Qur’an explicitly. Fun Trivia fact: The Hijri Calendar was created during the reign of Umar RA, in the 17th year of the Hijrah. Ali RA was the one who recommended that the Islamic Calendar start from the Hijrah year since, that is when the situation of the Muslims tremendously changed. ========================================================== Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Jazakallahu Qairan, sheikh I have today completed your Seerah 31st lecture . Insha Allah I will complete your all 102 Seerah lectures. It is just like reading Bhukhari, Ibn Kathir. , ibn Hajr . All in a concise manner.
Ali was one of the most knowledgable of the Sahabah, He was appointed a judge by the 3 previous Khulafaa e Rashideen, he would not have fought Muawiya unless it was right and there are ulema that say he was on the truth.
He was on HAQ as predicted by prophet saw in his life time. Don't know why people are afraid of saying HAQ and should clearly say muhawaia and ayesha were wrong.
@@alybudwani3011 the ulama also say that you are no one to say that sahaba and wife of propeht are wrong. yes we can say that ali ra was more right but they were also not wrong. or at least we are no one to say that
As Salaamu Alaykum, also look upnthe translation closely. The wording possibly is 'Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah Be Pleased with him) was "closer" to the Truth/Haqq and that possibly the ones 'ON' the "Haqq" were those who 'sat down' and refused to partake i.e. ibn Abbas , Saad... Allahu'Alim
I think the Sheikh misses the point regarding the khutbah; because everybody could understand the Quran in those days and there’s no such superior reminder, when he prolongs the salah, it means he’s still giving khutbah but instead of his own words, he’s doing it with the words of Allah. And, him advising and praising others to follow this path is due to direct people to the Quran. Allahu alam.
This is wrong approach when you say he still gives khutba through the word of Allah. Khutba has it’s own place and salah has it’s own. In khutba you can give any legitimate example to make people understand whereas you can't say any word other than what's prescribed by Allah and his messenger(pubh).
The prophet may have arrived in Madinah on the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal even if he left on the 1st since he hid in the cave of Thawr for 3 days and took a long indirect route to Madinah. 3days from hiding + 7-9 days lets say 8 days long travel mentioned by the shaykh takes us to the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal
Mosques in my locality(South India) deliver khutba in Arabic even though nobody understands it for like 20 mns and there is no khutba in regional language at all, peole come sit, some sleep, (i have memorised the whole thing) some chat with each other and when it is time people pray and go to back to what they were doing.(sufi masjids) Non sufi masjids are minority and they deliver in regional language.
Not technically. Abdullah bin Jaid was teaching Bilal of the Words of the dream. Not actually making the Athan. He was teaching Bilal how to say it. But, he was not making Athan. So, Athan came from Bilal not Jaid. As you can see that, Prophet Muhammad (saws) order Bilal (ra) to make the Athan not Jaid
Hard to believe that prophet saw would leave the world without nominating successor considering he didn't died suddenly and was on death bed for few days. I am sure he knew Muslims will start fighting right away without even giving him proper burial.
The prophet prophesied the gruesome murder of his son in law (Uthman) and his grandchild(Hussein), this shows also that he knew that Abubakar(his father in law and best friend) will become his successor by the will of Allah. In the last day before his death he said close/seal every door to the mosque except the door to Abubakars house, and also when he was on his bed he said no one should lead the prayer in my place except Abubakar.
The shias of today have deviated from the true path. In the past shia were just a different school of thought like hanafi or maliki and muslims used to pray with or learn from these schools without any problems. Now shia is actually a different religion
I thought it was Ayoub Al Ansari who welcomed the prophet alayhi ssalat wa ssalam and Abu bakr? Anyone to clarify? Because he mentions in the beginning that Kaltoum (old man) who welcome the prophet.
Salam Brothers and sisters- Please can someone help me to understand something here- Regarding Witir Prayer- Maybe I didnt understand what Dr. Yasir saying- @ second to the lecture - Is witir, not Wajib? or it is must pray? I listen to the clip few times maybe I am misunderstanding him- This is what I understood, it is not wajib for the Umah our prophet (PBUH). I am a Sunni Muslim.- This is my 2nd time listening to this Seerah series and each time I am learning something new. AlhumduhlillAllah.
Witr according to hanafi is wajib but other schools of thought consider is sunnah e muakidah as they don't have a separate category for fard and wahib. This will make it more confusing when u include eid prayers. Best to go with hanafi and consider it wahib and obligatory prayers but it ranks after fard and before sunna muakkada
So according to YQ, prophet migrated in Rabbil awwal. According to hanafi he arrived in medina 12 rabbil awal. According to hadith it was a Monday. So 1st rabbi ul awal in 1 hijri was 12 September which is Sunday. So monday that prophet arrived in medina has to be either 20th, 27 or 4th but not 13th as at that time the fastest journey from mecca to medina was 3 days.12 rabilawal falls on 20th, so seems perfectly plausible that hanafis are correct! Wallahu alam
Muhammad Zia no he is not salafi anymore. He was in a salafi movement before long time ago but he left them, and he is now just a sunni muslim. search on youtube: why yasir qadhi left salaf
Very beautiful seerah. But I can't help noticing the way he pronouce words that ends with "g*, he usually pronouce the" g". Words that ends with g, the g should b silent Allah kwns best
@@arafjan7488 there are actually a significant number of words that are continously mispronounced - and the issue is not American English,, he often pronounces words phonetically which is not always apt. However, that does not in any way diminish his excellence as a Sheikh...and Allah knows best. Salam brother.
@scorpiorulesu this is why muslims fail everywhere they go. Elders teach their kids right from wrong and we have no distinction between right and wrong. We have god given right to say which sahaba is wrong. Teach our children why. Learn from their mistakes and never repeat them.
Either u r on HAQ or u r not. There is no "closer to truth". Regardless u r Sunni or shia we should clearly say what muawayia did was wrong as well as ayesha with respect.
The leaving on the 1st of the third month might be the wrong narration; instead of the arriving in the 12 of Rabi`a Al Awwal. The mention of how the first Friday Service. The only Mosque of Harm I know of in the Northwest is the Ahamadiyya one. All others lack such a mission statement of division between Al Muslimeen. Certain sects tend to dominate most masajid, but they are not built on sectarianism. Masjid Quba does have its importance of the first masjid Prophet Muhammad saw completed, but the role in ritual is not by physical occurrence, but by divine inspiration. Toilet paper uses 25 gallons a roll. It is not saving water of the skin on your own hide to skip water when available. I think the gravitating towards hour long sermons instead of trying to make it a few minutes comes from how long church services are. Locally there is a guy who decided to come to a nearby masjid and accepted after his first sermon. The introduction sermon does have some variation among narrations, but it is basically the same. Ahl Assuffah are part of the motivation behind the observance of the occurrence of the Sufi movement. The story of the person trying to buy musical instruments to call for prayer indicates that none of the verses people think are complete bans of musical instruments were understood as such. Qiyam Al Layl is only Tahajud after rest or sleep.
I don't understand your other points like toliet paper 1 & regarding why khutbahs are long I think the sheikh was making a good point there did prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) complete buliding quba? It seems like no but yeah I agree both masjids are important how do you know prophet muhammad leaving mecca on 1st rabi awwal is unauthentic? what are you talking about musical instruments part? May Allah guideus all to the straight path ameen
This is the best seerah series ever, for many many years i keep starting this series again and again
Jazak Allah to all who contributed to this presentation.
Very Inspirational Seerah 👌🏻, This really Changed my life…I’ve become a better muslim now and practicing ….May Allah Accept

39:30 Despite being born in a Sunni family Iam politically Shia of Ali(RA)
The shias of today have deviated from the true path. In the past shia were just a different school of thought like hanafi or maliki and muslims used to pray with or learn from these schools without any problems. Now shia is actually a different religion
THERE IS NO SHIA, SUNNI, IN THE QURAN
I thought it was Ayoub Al Ansari who welcomed the prophet alayhi ssalat wa ssalam and Abu bakr? Anyone to clarify? Because he mentions in the beginning that Kaltoum (old man) who welcome the prophet.
Alhamdulillah.
As Salam o alaikum Brother, I had one question how many and who all sahabis participated in building masjid nabawi?
Min.23.45: can anyone write the whole phrases in arabic? Barak Allah fik!
In'sha'Allah
Thank you
So according to YQ, prophet migrated in Rabbil awwal.
Maybe yes. Maybe no. Without solid records from that time only Allah knows best.
NEAT!

I meant I would like to watch this in real life
which of the 4 jamma does yasir qadhi follow?
If you mean by madhab, I think he generally follows the Hanbali madhab
This Shaikh are Salfi does not follow any jamma.
Muhammad Zia no he is not salafi anymore. He was in a salafi movement before long time ago but he left them, and he is now just a sunni muslim.
search on youtube: why yasir qadhi left salaf
what do you mean by salafi and sunni?
Combo of Hanbali & Hanafi.. my take... this is my speculation.
What about Asma binth Abu Bakr was also prophet (pbuh) wife
That’s Aishas sister and no
Very beautiful seerah. But I can't help noticing the way he pronouce words that ends with "g*, he usually pronouce the" g". Words that ends with g, the g should b silent Allah kwns best
There's no mispronounciation apart from some of the American English.
@@arafjan7488 there are actually a significant number of words that are continously mispronounced - and the issue is not American English,, he often pronounces words phonetically which is not always apt. However, that does not in any way diminish his excellence as a Sheikh...and Allah knows best. Salam brother.
Only Allah (SWT) is perfect after all...
He stated that ALi was closer to teh truth than Muawiyyah but the Abadillah were on the truth

Why gloss over ammar. If all are closer to the truth then how do u differentiate right from wrong
All are greatest sahabis. No one is wrong but their reasoning led them to opposite sides of issue. We have no right to call sahabis wrong
@scorpiorulesu this is why muslims fail everywhere they go. Elders teach their kids right from wrong and we have no distinction between right and wrong. We have god given right to say which sahaba is wrong. Teach our children why. Learn from their mistakes and never repeat them.
He tried to make but even the lunar models are not very precise.
Either u r on HAQ or u r not. There is no "closer to truth". Regardless u r Sunni or shia we should clearly say what muawayia did was wrong as well as ayesha with respect.
No we shouldn't.
As a muslim (not talking as a shia or sunni) you are obliged to respect Sahaba and Prophet’s Wife. Allah knows the truth.
A tree stump from 1400+ years ago is luckier than me!

Qiyam Al Layl is only Tahajud after rest or sleep.
qiyam layl means standing at night so it is witr, tahajjud & tarawih so they all basically the same prayer well the idea is the same at least
I don't understand your other points like toliet paper 1 & regarding why khutbahs are long I think the sheikh was making a good point there
did prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) complete buliding quba? It seems like no but yeah I agree both masjids are important
how do you know prophet muhammad leaving mecca on 1st rabi awwal is unauthentic?
what are you talking about musical instruments part? May Allah guideus all to the straight path ameen
