I just completed my 1973 Yamaha TX650 last night. Very similar bike. I am also in the Milwaukee area and getting parts and advice for this bike was four years of hell.

I'm in Wisconsin too near Janesville. I joined an XS 650 page on facebook and it has helped a lot. Still fixing up my 1977 should have it completed by the end of the month
