This is a great idea for messy fish like discus. Easy to clean the bottom of uneaten food while also still maintaining a beautiful planted aquarium. A couple questions, what temperature do you keep your aquarium for the discus? What fertilizers do you use and how often? Thank you for sharing this layout!

I usually have the aquarium at 29º C (84º F). When I do any treatment, I gradually go up to 30 ° C (86 ° F). I use seachem flourish fertilizer once a week, usually on Saturdays.

I dose Estimative Index developed by Tom Barr, but only dose once a week (micronutrients on monday/macros tuesday) since I run low tech tanks. Dosing dry fertilizers is much cheaper on the budget compared to liquid ferts. I personally don't like to leave the plastic vase and wool inside. But I think it doesn't harm fish.

The only problem I felt was that I may have over-turned the rubber band and as the plants grew they were choked. But putting fewer plants per sock you won't have a problem. As for the deterioration of the sock and the elastic, there was nothing to point out.
Hello my friend!!! As I understand it, you want to disinfect the aquarium. If you want to do it to the fish, I won't tell you how to do it, as it could be dangerous for the animals if done incorrectly. To disinfect an empty aquarium (without fish or decorations), you should mix 1 gram of PP per 10 liters of water. The water will turn purple at first until it is almost brown, meaning that the effect of the PP is over. Remember to use gloves, a mask and goggles when working with PP. It is a toxic and irritating substance.

But as time went by I was attentive to new growth and yes, new shoots appear mainly in valisneria. However, with Egeria I made the mistake of putting many in one sock and ended up strangling having broken several times. I hope I helped. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hello Nazeem!!! I don't think it's necessary, because ADA soils are already very nutritious for plants. But you can put, it won't do any harm if they are well covered by the substrate. For Geophagus and Coridoras, fine sand will be the best. It doesn't hurt the barbels of Corys and Geophagus (I don't have much experience with these fish) can suck the sand without swallowing any bigger pieces.
