A great resource for extra exercises is the Mel Bay expanded edition. Here is a link amzn.to/2N5liP7. This book includes extra exercises for each section of the book to give you extra practice on concepts before moving ahead!
Hi, I'm relearning guitar. Went through this book as a kid. These videos have been awesome to help clarify the book. I have a question though. On a song like Aura Lee, there's chord names above the notation. If I had a looper, can I play a chord accompaniment by just strumming and matching the melody rhythm, changing chords as the names change? Is this how they're meant to be used or do they have another meaning like suggested hand positioning when playing the melody?
I'm glad to hear you're relearning the guitar! That's great and good question about the chords and a looper. You could certainly play the chords with a looper and then practice the melody on top. I will say that most students haven't learned chords yet at this point in the book but if you know some chords definitely give it a shot! Also, I've played the chords for you in most of these videos so you can practice along with that as well. Happy practicing!
I always encourage my students to take their time and try to really master a page before they move on. Sometimes if you’re having trouble with a particular exercise or page it may be good to go back and review some earlier pages for a few days and then come back to this page. Sometimes it’s good to take a break from challenging things for a few days and then come back to it. That being said, it’s really up to you for when yo move on but just remember it only gets more challenging to try to really master your exercises before moving on!
How I do it is if I can play the same way with all the counts with Nick and not mess up from beginning to ending..then I mastered it, I then go on to the next lesson. If I mess up during it then I try 3 times if I keep messing up, then I don't go on to the next lesson until I play it without a mess up with Nick.

How much perfect should I be for to move on next chapter I'm getting like 50 % perfection and I want to move to next song in lesson 6
