    Love the Kenai.. it's deceivingly warm. Great as an outer layer on its own or a mid layer. I like to use the axis hybrid as my shell outer layer. Great video!

    I have primarily run sitka for hunts in past three years but am seriously considering kuiu for my teenage son on his first western hunt. Would also recommend adding a vest to your layering system. I have found it to be great when paired with the merino hoody in various conditions.

      That’s not a bad idea! I might snag one for the season! Thanks for the feedback!

      That's pretty cool of you to buy your boy a set like this.

    I’ve ran Sitka for years, never tried any Kuiu but the Super Down Pro keeps catching my eye!

    • @PNWild
      @PNWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Super down pro is by far the best single piece of gear I’ve ever owned.

    New to Kuiu, I stumbled across the brand on GovX and immediately was intrigued. A good bit of the inventory is on sale so I purchased the Kutana Stretch Woven pants, I haven’t fully decided on the hoodie as of yet. I’m back and forward between the the Strongfleece Hybrid 260 or the 280. Really like the Valo print.
    Once it gets into the late season I’m going to transition into the Proximity Jacket and Bib. I think all that would be great for Southeastern Whitetail! I really like the Guide all season and Guide DCS Jackets too.

      You grabbed a few amazing pieces for sure! The strong fleece is one of my absolute favorite pieces! That and the superdown pro is something I take on every single hunt.

      So far I’ve gotten Kutana Pants Valo, Attack Pants Buck, 260 Strongfleece Valo, Guide DCS Valo, Peloton 97 tops and bottoms. Still waiting to add the complete Proximity set in Valo. Going to also add the 145 Moreno LS top in Valo. Oh gonna get the 220 Strongfleece gloves as well. Hoping I can catch everything via sale prices at one point or another. Doubtful regarding the Proximity gear though.

    I used the Pro Pant this year when I went on my first Archery Elk hunt in WA and really liked them. I also like the Super Down Ultra as well. I am going to get the 145 and the 260 for this year. I do need to get a jacket as well. I will have to take a look at the Guide and the Axis.
    I am not sure if Jeff saw my post about his 2021 Kuiu System. But if the inseam is to long look up Boot Bands. I used them when i was in the Marine Corps, and I can't wear a pair of pants and boots without wearing them.

    I run a mixed bag of Sitka, first lite, stone glacier. Usually Sitka ascents top and bottom with the heavy weight hoodie is perfect for Idaho elk hunts.

    • @PNWild
      @PNWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you like those stone glacier pieces?

    • @steventurner83
      @steventurner83 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PNWild so far I like them. Only issue is with the pants. There is no fabric when you unzip the side zippers like in the attack pants. Only a issue if you thing some snakes or other creatures are going to crawl into your pants..

    I found the super down pro to be awesome and I also wear the super down vest underneath it turned out to be pretty nice at temperature is 27° but I gotta say everything I bought from Q is just as advertised awesome and I have a whole closet for their stuff and I do agree with you on the pants both of them they’re good

    Going elk hunting in southern WA in November. Trying to figure out what from Kuiu I’ll need. From my research temps are 30-50s day to day and rains 24/7. Will be in heavily dense pines.

    • @PNWild
      @PNWild  ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the KUIU Strongfleece tops would be great for that hunt. Pair it with a rain shell and a puffy and you are in business! If it is Southwest WA rain pants would be a great addition and some gaiters to help with the wet brush.

    I have the guide jacket. Kind of wish I would of bought the axis. The guide really doesn’t stop any sort of wind what so ever. Now to be fair I had it out in pretty cold weather (20’s) but even in the warmer days say 40’s with a breeze I froze my ass off and I’m a hot blooded kind of guy. Anyhow a good vid always into the gear reviews

    • @PNWild
      @PNWild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have noticed the guide could do better at cutting wind, but other than that they are both great jackets, Jeff had the axis jacket last year. Both solid jackets.

    • @ritualghost
      @ritualghost ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the axis hybrid jacket with 2 layers under it in the 20s and windy and it was great. Kinda loud, but if its windy or some light rain it's definitely money

    I’ve been running Sitka for the last two seasons and like it a lot. I’ve been looking at what Kuiu has to offer and I must say I’m impressed.
    I am considering the following pieces. Any input would be appreciated. (I bow hunt 100% of the time so noisy clothing is a NO)
    Peloton 97
    Peloton 240 hoodie
    Strongfleece 260 or 280
    Kenai vest & hoody (is it too loud as an outer layer)
    Guide jacket shell

    Spring bear:
    Peloton 118 LS base
    Strongfleece 210 mid
    Axis hybrid jacket outer
    Peloton 97 zip off baselayer bottoms
    Sierra pants
    Fall season add axis pants and versa midlayer

    From the bass layers all the way to the 260 I use the same thing but I used the lighter down jacket with the axis jacket Maybe I could’ve fit the pro underneath that’s funny I use the same base layers the 125 the pull over quarter zip and the 260 I love the axis jacket but I have the lighter down jacket from underneath

    I still wear wool pants. like the original... hand-me-down... itchy... bomb proof wool pants. I've been eyeing the axis hybrid though and may just have to pull the trigger.

      id probably just run the axis, but if you dont have them you could def just run a base layer under the attacks
