I was explained from an elder that the word gringo doesn't refer to white boy. when the American military would invade Mexico the soldiers would say, Green Go! So the Mexicans would call the soldiers GreenGo's (Gringo's) They refer to every country in the world by their original citizenship accept American, All Americans with American citizenship are Gringos. (GreenGo's) military terminology. also Regardless if your lineage is from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, England, Germany, Italy and if mine was from Cape Verde, Senegal, or the Congo no one is just black or white everyone has a respectable lineage that brought us to America to represent this newest nation. We are American not white boy or black don't put that negative connotation on yourself. Being American is something to be proud of.
