I will never forget ridding the train in the real early 80's and some small time gang was fucking with people for no reason untill 3 savage skulls and 2 nomads got on the train and all that bull shit them other gang cats was doing stopped, they were so afraid of the skulls and nomads that they try to be cool with them and the skulls and nomads started to beat them up, I think was funny and everybody on the train started to cheer, lol, never will forget it

@GNLJshl69 Thanks mate! Absolutely fantastic docu, remember seeing it many years ago. Mind you watching a film or looking at images can never get you that feeling of "being there". I'll never have than so can only look on in awe at those times. Makes me laugh when I listen to the so called "hard cases" today claiming they are "all that". Toys wouldnt have lasted five minutes back then, myself included ha ha! Not that I am a "hard case" I hasten to add! Peace from London. Rob
@bombthesystem Very well articulated - what you said about owning nothing but pieces of paper - and so frustrating that they mess up a whole segment of a documentary over ownership of said piece of paper..
@GNLJshl69 That's a very good point, that's the key "no choice". I think two tunes from back in the day summed that up perfectly for me....obviously Melle Mel's "The Message" and "Streets of New York" by Kool G Rap. Both harsh and to the point, for me anyway. Have you ever been to England? I love my country but sometimes I wonder what the hell is goin on with it, then I guess we all feel that at some point wherever we are. Too much violence especially with the kids here in London. Rob
Joan Butler deserves a medal. She was good to work with these gangs.
Mee Too!!.....I remember the Trains Man!! Like watchin Saturday Morning Cartoons out the car window!! LOL!!!
I was 9 yrs. old on 174st. & Longfellow Ave. when it looked burnt out like that. 1979 on the 2 line was bananas. Thanks for the post!!!
6:12 that's actor Dorsey Wright aka Cleon the leader of the Warriors. He said it in an old FB post and Joan Butler was his aunt
