Saying this since you both got me into this game. Instant cancel Uses a bar of super, whiff uses 3/4ths burst. then you can use burst for burst to recover or burst cancel to save your meter. But love how ya both go against each other so often
The bullet thing I know happens when you parry. If you choose multiple bullets, the moment a parry happens, it's treated as "It's not worth it to keep shooting" and forces a holster.
I feel like the cowboy character is like a rogue samurai mixed with an old west bounty hunter? So the archetypical "Wandering Justice" kind of Cowboy persona is how I rationalize it. Also thank you for continuing to upload gameplay for this. Such an incredible piece of game!
He makes me think of Johnny from Guilty Gear, although Johnny is an airship pirate. But that design aesthetic of a bandit who’s not necessarily rich, being a vagabond, but can afford a high quality sword because it makes him look cool or dignified.
Fun Tips on Robot: Robot's Bound Check special is a wall carry that beats grabs. Mixed with Armor, it's a very tricky thing to avoid, as it only ever loses out to jabs- which Armor covers. Earthquake is an OTG. And as you guessed; Stomp is an OTG as well. So is Car Mode's "Forward" option. When you combo into Bound Check, it doesn't carry to the wall, but it instead throws the target after going a distance. If they do hit the wall by chance though; they wall splat. Spin Cycle is basically Robots "Jab" due to its speed. It's a bit weird, but it has the spirit. Also, whilst in Car Mode, Clutch AKA Car Mode exclusive Grab, beats out normal grab irregardless of distance. But as with Bound Check, armor makes it safer. And finally, as you guessed, Armor is regained whenever Robot gets a hit, making every trade with armor a victory. Cowboy Freebie: If you teleport in the same spot with instant teleport, literal right click and the slider is centered perfectly, you can dodge jabs, grabs and other quick attacks by just being invincible on the spot. Enjoy these fun facts!
Also worth mentioning; Instant Cancel uses meter, Whiff Cancel uses 3/4ths of your Burst. So if you have meter to burn, feel free to use Instant Cancel, it's a fun time. It's regained by doing hits and moving toward your opponent when they're not stunned. Robot specifically, a fan favorite move of mine is, when at a distance further than Horizontal Slash could cover, use Vacuum. If it hits, you can instant cancel, use Step to move closer, and Vacuum again. Repeat until you can Bound Check or run out of Instant Cancel- whatever comes first.
This game is so cool. It perfectly combines my love of fighting and strategy games. Also the replays at the end are unbelievably hype. And robots super is basically a heavenly pot buster.
Even if I just skip to the end replay, I still feel the deliberation in every action taken by the characters, especially the blocks that predict action. I love this game and I hope you upload more of it.
Awesome fight! And yes if you block the first bullet in a volley the additional bullets get cancelled and the ammo is not consumed. Can't wait to see more fights I'm loving this game!
This game has completely consumed my soul and I love it to death. I haven't played a ton of fighting games(played a lot smash as a kid but never got super good) but I appreciate the hell out of them and the fgc as a whole. This game gives me that feeling of watching the daigo parry without needing to be a God of pressing inputs correctly. Like, this a game where if you aren't doing frame perfect or near frame perfect you are misplaying and I love that. I could ramble for days and days about how smart the dev is to come up with a game like this or that it's the most exciting AND accessible fighting game I've ever seen. But I would die of old age before I stopped. Love this game and thanks reto for helping me find this game.
Have you seen the interview another creator has done woth the dev? The reason IvySly came up with the concept is even more wholesome. For those who don't know: Apparently he at one point got very into Smash Melee and from there, TAS vs TAS recordings. Later down the line, he and his friend would open up Dolphin (a Smash Melee TAS tool to play frame by frame... sound familiar?) and then both play Melee vs. each other... one frame at a time, only advancing frames once they had set their inputs. Eventually, IvySly got hit with the idea to make this game, specifically for him and his friend to play together just like Dolphin 1v1's.
I think reto never fully explored his chainsaw options. It made for a great battle, but it probably would have shown more options if he messed with the start and end sliders
for the free cancels, most attacks allow you to check the "free" box, wich allows you to basically have options when you wouldn't have options if you regret the attack you started doing It also resets to 2 everytime you hit or get hit I find it important to use it if i'm comboing, in cas the opponent DI's in a way that gets him out and gives him advantage Also, if you like cowboy, one simple and effective combo is alternating between horizontal and vertical slash, even better if you get 1000cuts going The lasso is the best combo ender, try to do it before the enemy gets yeeted afar, so if he has a high DI multiplier don't hesitate to try it
you've gotten me into this game now, and wizard is my main, I've barely touched the other characters and they are so much fun. so many projectiles and the Orb Super gives you essentially a second flying character that you can control independent of yourself and spit attacks out of and they just have so many great zoning tools. if ninja or cowboy get close with frame advantage you get fucked but wizard can turn the arena into a fucking gauntlet of lingering projectile hitboxes it's great. also wizard can bhop insanely fast using the luigi missile attack but I've yet to figure out how to do that well lol.
I freakin love this game! Just started playing it a couple days ago -- after you released the first video. I've already gone from losing most matches in the beginner lobbies to the point where I feel guilty entering those lobbies. I have not touched Robot or Wizard but I feel quite confident on Ninja and Cowboy now. One thing I don't understand is how aiming Cowboy's lightning strike works. Feels like the aiming wheel does almost nothing on that ability?
The range of lightning strike is essentially a large oval in the direction you are facing. It has good horizontal reach but is more limited on targets too far above or below you.
That thumbnail is every Robot's dream

Wet dream*
No no no, our dream is landing a max kill process, utterly obliterating all hope the opponent has

like the ronins who fled from 19th century japan to become cowboys

Cowboy movies are *extremely* inspired by samurai movies
Shanghai Noon
P.O.V.: you see OP-timus Crime, he transforms and you see he has air force 1's on. He pulls out his phone and says "AUTOBOTS! PULL UP."
OPtimus crime is such a great name

Weird, auto-hit-confirm stuff. I guess that works!

@@epsi9923 I didn't see that! That is super wholesome 😌 ☺️

2v2 would be the best kind of chaos in this
Also Kill process is 2+ Meter as it uses max meter possible to decide damage it gives out
this reminds me of toribash so much, awesome concept with more style
Absolutely need to see more. If you ever decide to run a tournament that would be sweet!
Robot gains armor after landing a hit or using magnetize
This is one of my new favorite games, and for sure favorite new series from Retro!
If only Robot had an Arm Cannon. Right dev? Right? 😏
Jump is better counter to crab. I do like robot and car is chool but car dont have much options and buttons arent super chool. Except car flip
U got to make a series on this game! maybe u both playin together against random enemies? So fun
I think cowboy's lasso is an off the ground?
Also, loving this series and Vee is a great guest. I absolutely bought this after your last episode.
You guys should try robot vs robot. Optimus Prime vs Megatron.
Several Samuri Cowboy personaes used. Law men Samuri.
I love this game!
Oooooo am excite.
You should play some more inkbound! It’s free in the steam next fest out as a demo - they’ve added a bunch of qol stuff since you’ve last played
pls keep making these videos!
