72 minutes! I won't get to watch it all in one go but I will watch it all you two have earned that! Thanks for all the hard work and great content keep up all the amazing stuff!!
Only started watching. Matt, you can still play, and you are a long time retired my friend. That said , you are good at the comms side of things, and I wish you all the best. Despite being a Villa fan.
Great interview between friends - great channel - Matt , after all you have put in to progress what i call 'project darts' - with your own channel & another darts channel, comms/punditry on Modus, comms/punditry now developing elsewhere , and your playing despite injury - you deserve all the success as you go forward ---Mr Barrs, big up to you with the all encompassing everything you do in darts, all power to you.
Great interview- Cool hand is brilliant but Littler is box office and the next phase of some gifted kids coming through and that’s why it’s always a story
Judit Polgar who played chess (from Bulgaria) was ranked in top 10 in the world at her best. You can argue that it's not a sport, however it is a level playing field and it is not repeated by any woman chess player now/nor any woman dart player at the moment
Regarding the De Decker situation with the premier league: You talk all the time about the fact that no World Grand Prix champion has ever not been in the Premier League. But I think that was more because all WGP champions so far would have been in the premier league anyway in the context of the winning year. I'm not saying the WGP didn't contribute to that, but the players have done more than win the WGP over the year: (Luke Humpries 2023, MvG 2022 and Jonny Clayton 2021). Since the introduction of the Premier League, there have only been 2 players who have really surprised by winning the GP: Robert Thornton and Daryl Gurney. But both were in high positions at the end of the year (6 and 5) and the Premier League still had 10 places at the time. Mike de Decker is currently projected to be 24th, so from both points of view (only 8 places + ranking) I don't see any way De Decker is in the Premier League right now. For me, he needs at least one more deep run in the big tournaments (at least EC, PCF or Grand Slam final or WC semi-final), otherwise he's not in. And the fact that every Sky Sport event winner so far has been in the Premier League. Sky Sports broadcasts the 5 biggest events and the World Cup every year. WC, WM, WGP, GS and the PL. The WGP is clearly 5th on the list, let alone in terms of prize money. For me, only the winner of the WC, WM and the PL are sure to qualify. With 8 places and 4 of them determined by the OoM, there is (theoretically) no room to have 5 safe places determined by these tournaments. Practically, yes, because not everyone is likely to win one of them and some are already in the top 4, but for me the appeal of the WGP is not enough to promote a previously unknown player with a fairly low OoM position and not quite as exciting a character to the Premier League.
What's changed recently is that players well down the rankings are winning tournaments and are proving to be very competitive. This is coupled with some of the big beasts losing form: Price, Wright, Michael Smith. Apart from the top three (Luke, Luke, MVG), the next 20 or so are pretty close in general ability, although many have never delivered in a major. I reckon one of the Belgians or Schindler gets in.
@@jjuxi459 very rightful & interesting perspective . I have been watching & observing what u described as well since 2023 . It's exciting for darts to have those movements and evolutions . As a Belgian fan , I am so glad to see Mike experiencing a major breakthrough recently and I feel he will be the future Belgian number 1 by 2025 . I don't see Dimitri going further than his 11 th PDC ranking position because of what he needs to defend comes January ( semi final at world's will be tough to replicate this year , very tough ) . Schindler, Heta , DeDecker , Gurney , Bunting and a few others are all going up at the moment . 😀
Think Edgar is too quick to give up when there’s a setback. Get the surgery done and he could still play at a high level, but just don’t think he really wants to anymore
Most of the injuries come from the stance, from the throwing action. Things like sprains and pains in various joints. Dartitis is a very real thing too.
I cant work out, certainly from your response to the other poster if this is a genuine question or if your just trying to be clever. If it is a genuine question id be happy to answer
20 yo, extended interviews are the best

Short format darts bloody hell how many times would we hear John Mac saying ladies and gentlemen
It's a shame Matt won't be playing at the MSS, I was looking forward to seeing him there. But at least we get his commentary.
I was looking forward to it too :(
I'm nearly 60 and i love watching all darts
I would love to see more doubles matches in PDC similar to World Cup of Darts.
Its a great concept but not sure if it is more than once it stays interesting and exciting, if christmas was twice a year it wouldnt be as good

Haha bang on matt, 29 year old male who loves a long interview or podcast 🤣
