- The construction of the cable car system between Yenimahalle and Şentepe began with a decision made by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Assembly on February 13, 2012 (decision number: 172). Subsequently, a tender was conducted for technical research and discussions on August 15, 2012, resulting in the identification of the route and system. On March 26, 2013, the construction work was tendered, and a contract was signed with the contractor on May 14, 2013, initiating the construction process. Finally, the cable car system commenced passenger operations on June 17, 2014.
Known as the Yenimahalle-Şentepe Cable Car System, it was designed with a maximum capacity to transport 2400 people per hour in one direction. The line starts from Yenimahalle metro station, offering an aerial transportation route all the way to the center of Şentepe. The cable car system operates with 106 cabins simultaneously between Yenimahalle and Şentepe, featuring 4 stops along its 3257-meter total length. With a cabin entering the station every 15 seconds, the entire journey, spanning a 200-meter difference in elevation, takes approximately 13.5 minutes.
The cable car system connects Yenimahalle metro station with Şentepe Center, enabling quick transportation without requiring passengers to wait for those exiting the metro. This integration with the metro system ensures efficient travel and alleviates traffic congestion in Ankara, relieving the burden on the roads. Moreover, the cable car system is designed to be easily accessible for people of all abilities, including individuals with disabilities, the elderly, and children.
Bro I just realized this channel only has like 7 thousand subs, at this quality I thought I was watching a channel with like 400,000 subs at least, very underrated channel
Thanks. We are visiting Ankara and saw your video while searching about this cable car system. Very useful. We hope to use it during our short visit.
So nice of you
My father is from this city -Ankara- and he absolutely hates passing under these while driving. One time we were visiting family and my close friend was also with us to see the city. We forced my father to ride this from the first station until we made it back. It was fascinating to see a whole city from up above like that. And i was also surprised that all the roofs were red like that, since it doesn't realy snow where we live, top of the buildings are all flat and you can just get up there and chill. Also someone said in the comments that no one seems to ride these and its probably a waste of money but i remember seeing a lot more people compared to the video when i was there.
i just realized that Ankara is such a beautiful city 😯
Enjoy!😎
Did you do a dance while on the cable car? And why did you not shake dat?
very impressive cable car
Very nice... The longest cablecar of the world is located in CDMX. It has the Guinnes Record certificate.
What is the city though? Did I miss that? "This one goes through all the suburbs of this Turkish city." Which one?
