eesh not everyone is so hatefilled, there are lots of good cochella looks you just have to go to the people that try and arnt just doing it for clout and genuily love clothes and fashion
Just because someone’s a celebrity or rich doesn’t mean they have style or taste and I’m glad this is showcasing that. BUT… It’s hard to believe because of what music festivals are right now, but there was a time when Coachella wasn’t geared towards celebrities, influencers, and clout chasers as their main clientele. People who went (and could afford to go) to music festivals were a part of one or multiple subcultures (or were at least aware) and their styles showcased that. I think that since Coachella is geared towards people who are interested in mainstream culture the fashion is so much more monotone than what it was 10+ years ago when there was a wider clientele. The people going are generally not pushing fashion boundaries since they’re part of pop culture and what is deemed “acceptable” by pop culture is really narrow. A lot of pop culture influencers don’t know much about music, subculture, or even pop culture history and so the inspiration they have for what music festivals are is basically just Woodstock so they think boho or some EDM one like EDC so they think bright futuristic clothing and combine that with pop culture which is built off the back of watered down Black culture and you get… this. So even though present day Coachella fashion is pop fashion, it wasn’t always as basic. I would love to see a camp emphasis bc Coachella is fashion it’s just pop fashion and we don’t forget that

Anitta’s looks is definitely referencing Brazil, as she’s Brazilian. The colours are the Brazilian’s flag colours and the feathers seem to reference Carnaval, as there’s always feathers on the costumes that Brazilian dancers wear 🇧🇷💙💚💛
Ha, these Ottolinger bags have been produced in the ceramics studio I work in Greece. They also had heaps of weird cups and vases made that I thought were the ugliest things I have ever seen in my entire life. Now that I see their clothing, it all makes sense!
I would love to have a part 2 to this with some of the smaller artists! Specifically, one of my favorite bands that performed at Coachella this year (L’impératrice) all wore Pierre Cardin for their set and I would love to hear your thoughts on that!
I love listening to your deeply fashion-informed commentary. I also enjoy your occasional forays into experimental English: canoodling, though it sounds like a slang word for "messing with," as you used it, it really means to kiss and cuddle. I learn so much from you fashion-wise, a little canoodling here and there can be excused. Also, 15/10 for "a fairy running through the desert."
I don’t know why, but I’m always so underwhelmed by Harry Styles’ outfits. I want to love his looks, and I do like the clothes themselves, but it feels so Elton John in the 70s. And I loved Elton John’s looks, but he did it already, you know? Paying homage is nice sometimes, but it feels costumey, I think.
Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion definitely have had the best coachella looks, especially stage outfits! Also really love Phoebe Bridgers dress too it's so pretty 🤎 interested to see what next weekend will look like too
My favourite coachella moment is from maddy who diy’d the heart-cut out area blazer. She made it, she wore it, she looked bomb. All of the fast fashion at coachella kills me tbh
I never learned how to make fashionable outfits and basically have stumbles into any nice looks I’ve made. I appreciate high fashion and really like learning about it, but Coachella looks always make me panic that all of this is supposed to be high fashion because I dislike so much. So glad I’m not the only one lol 😂 Ps. I am not a Charlie D’amilio fan, but I appreciate her dressing like a concert goer! You know, the whole point of the event lol
i see billies “reveal look” as a reference to punk art. They’re the clothes of someone who was up all night painting in their New York studio, making a mess. The colors feel almost like a renaissance painting. a pastoral scene. which is why i think you called the kneepads elegant and why i agree.
I would've loved to see some 88rising artists looks, a bit more asian representation if you will 😅, especially Jackson Wang and CL that were two of the most talked about artists this year!
@@harmeenk12 well jackson wang is the 3rd artist with the most social media engagement under harry styles and anitta, and there were tons of artists that performed at coachella so you do the maths lmao. I thought Doja was wearing Nusi Quero for the molded top as Chloe Bailey did on a magazine, not Ottolinger at first. You might've missed CL at Coachella wearing a biker jacket of sorts, Fully barbed/spiked swimsuit on top of a mesh catsuit. And her bandmates were wearing Supreme and Miu Miu onstage during the performance.
"Influencer" fashion, particularly LA-based influencer fashion, is just so horrid to me. No point of view. Just flashy, trendy, usually fast fashion. That's why so many of them are culturally irrelevant, despite having lots of followers.
Yea, they are essentialy just walking Billboards - No thoughts, head empty. They all look horrible. As someone, who is more so from the German Techno Festival Scene: Less can CERTAINLY be more sometimes.
They all want to just be the Kardashians, from the way they sound, talk, dress etc. The fashion was so tacky like Shien producing slightly better c!othes.
LMAO Billies knee pads are the exact type of volleyball knee pads like I wore in junior high. They are probably still in my old bedroom closet at my parents house. 😁 I don’t know if there was some practical purpose for them, but well that’s… a choice l suppose.
Anita is in the colors and line work because it mimics the Brazilan Flag! I was there for weekend 1 at coachella and the variety of outfit "genres" was vast and it was very fun to people watch
Natalia Fedner uses recycled silver I believe, and the chain is actually knitted. It’s a patented technique which is crazy to think there is still things that haven’t really been done. I love her brand!
Harry’s outfit isn’t actually a jumpsuit, it’s a top + pants made to look like a jumpsuit. And there is a fun theory going around that he is meant to look like the Rainbow Fish- as a bridge from his last album and the music video for Adore You. In the Adore You music video, he wore a denim look that his whole band then wore at Coachella, and the videos centers around him setting a fish free back to the ocean to live freely, truly, etc. It’s a fun connection in my opinion from his last album to setting himself more free with this time in his life (: I hope you’re able to see this because I personally think it’s a fun detail
I really enjoy your videos and I think your takes/opinions are educational and interesting, but I have never laughed so hard as I did when you gave your take on James Charles’s outfit. 😂 I’ve had to rewind and watch again. Great video, thanks for the laughs, Luke! Xx
I am just beginning this video, but Coachella fashion always being random+theatrical+intriguing is making me look forward to ALL the looks. Nothing probably boring or safe will be seen. 😉
One of the reasons I love watching your videos so much is because I never 100% agree with you, but in a respectful way. Like I would love to sit down and talk about why I love XYZ about a garment that you hated, or why I hate XYZ about one that you loved, but this video I agreed with you on every single look. Fully Manny and J* situation, I thought something, you articulated it, and I mirrored it lol. Great video, I missed your Coachella breakdowns the past few years!
Honestly can't see the t-shirt Doja is wearing without thinking of Lip wearing that shirt while smashing up the cars in season 4 of Shameless & that was in like 2014
To all who say "Anittas outfit is the Brazilian flag" i only have to say the ideea is nice ive seen artist draw flag based clothing , in her case the execution is done poorly
Conan's look was really pretty when he was on stage. I'd love to see your take/view on Wisdom's fashion content now that I see hik in this vid lol. All the things he does goes over my head and I feel like you'd make it more digestible
Looking forward to your follow up on the met gala which is in two weeks. Anna,s doing a part 2 from last years theme. Why, I don't know. But I predict it'll be another disaster like last years. American designers is a pretty broad theme so it was a huge Mish mash of very pedestrian to very technical. I was very confused and had a head ache by the end of the night.
Anita’s outfit colors represent the colors of the Brazilian flag, they are not there just for ‘her to be seen far away from the stage’ (: Love your videos xoxo
Im reconsidering whether I still hate pieces with the Coach monogram… I recently was kindly gifted a piece and it had the monogram all over. I was bothered (and saddened) because it is such a beautifully crafted piece, but the dang monogram just does not elevate it 😭 idk why I find it tacky. I love it though, but because it’s a quality piece and a really sweet gift. In my opinion, monograms sometimes just do not do the pieces ANY justice.
In my opinion Anitta's colors represent the Brazilian flag. And the feathers could represent the Brazilian samba dance feather outfits... that's what I think 🤔
You might want to check out Stromae's fashion--he, his brother, and his wife have their own fashion and lifestyle label in their hometown (Brussels, their label is Mosaert) and they also design all his and his band's outfits and stage stuff. He performed right before Billie Eilish (and he's collaborated with her musically too).

These reviews are always such a trip to me, I work at music festivals here in Australia and lemme tell you the fashion culture is WILDLY different, but also that's to be expected since the music festival culture is also just different, but I love that coachella is like pure day party in the city vibes as a opposed to "we've been here for 3 days and there's no showers but fuck it" would love to see you take in all the sorts of outfits I see when I'm working but also hey, I will actually send you pictures of the outfits the crew members and stuff wear if you wanna see working attire.
i'm loving all of bretman's looks. it's never boring and always serving for the gays and girlies 💅
Anitta’s looks is definitely referencing Brazil, as she’s Brazilian. The colours are the Brazilian’s flag colours and the feathers seem to reference Carnaval, as there’s always feathers on the costumes that Brazilian dancers wear 🇧🇷💙💚💛
You have to do Måneskin for the next review! Their looks are so amazing and creative!
Wanted to write the same comment 😻😻😻
I've seen a picture of their singer with Miyavi, the crossover I didn't know I needed
Came down through the comments to write the same thing!
@@tdelioncourt1268 Yes!!!!😍
"A fairy running through the desert" - thank you for the visual. Still laughing.
I don’t know why, but I’m always so underwhelmed by Harry Styles’ outfits. I want to love his looks, and I do like the clothes themselves, but it feels so Elton John in the 70s. And I loved Elton John’s looks, but he did it already, you know? Paying homage is nice sometimes, but it feels costumey, I think.
emma chamberlain is stepping into the uncanny valley with these camera angles 😗
Seriously! Almost looked alien
Okay, I wasnt the only one who was freaked out by the photo.
She using editorial fashion style photography. I kinda love it. Not necessarily a fan of hers but good for her.
I loved it, that pic was wild
Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion definitely have had the best coachella looks, especially stage outfits! Also really love Phoebe Bridgers dress too it's so pretty 🤎 interested to see what next weekend will look like too
Shiiiiit karol g be stunning nothing like her.
So glad I’m not the only one lol 😂
Ps. I am not a Charlie D’amilio fan, but I appreciate her dressing like a concert goer! You know, the whole point of the event lol
Lukeee I discovered you from your Coachella roast like 3 yrs ago and it feels so full circle to be watching another one!😭slayy
Emma looked so GOOD. Love her red look
James Charles is going to feel like a dark cloud is hanging over him with the amount of shade you threw, I was crying 😂
Chloe Cherry is just channeling us all at the weekend 💖 do you babe I'm here for it live that life
i see billies “reveal look” as a reference to punk art.
I’ve never heard about either of them
@@harmeenk12 well jackson wang is the 3rd artist with the most social media engagement under harry styles and anitta, and there were tons of artists that performed at coachella so you do the maths lmao. CL made a return with her iconic group after 7 years and her post on twitter alone got 550k likes and trended #1 ww. just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they're not popular. you just don't consume asian artists and that's fine, I just commented I'd like more asian representation and I'm entitled to that so.
also, their performances were really good! 100% recommend (the audio was kind of shit tho, but that's just coachella lmao nothing new)
@@King_Jonghyun 2ne1 reuniting was litterally history.
@@CrystalLight000 istg it felt like a fever dream, didn't cross my mind even once there could be a 2NE1 reunion. fans that were there for sure went through a religious experience 😂
Didn’t expect to see a shawol here and I’m here for the Asian representation. @ Luke Marr, please.
I am so inspired by all of these outfits. I am humbled by how creative people can be! It's a feast for the eyes. Loved your commentary on all this too Haute Le mode
emma really impressed me this time around!
"Some looks we can leave to that decade... the same way we leave the ugly long midi skirts over pants" No one tell him
Storm Reid's Etro outfit is really nice I love the colours and the fit🌼💛💖
I LOVE that you covered Wisdom!!! Truly, how the fashion gurlz are not doing more with him is out of this world. A MAN giving looks!?! And it is all him and it's so creative?!? I want so much more! I want to see him style others as well and get him on level of like Alexa Chung tbh
He missed the iconic 2NE1 reunion
I love Caroline Polachek so I’m glad you reviewed her look!
As someone, who is more so from the German Techno Festival Scene: Less can CERTAINLY be more sometimes.
i love the insult ‘culturally irrelevant’ i can’t wait to use it
They all want to just be the Kardashians, from the way they sound, talk, dress etc.
She did get on her knees while performing "strange addiction"
"It's just a lot, not in a good way" the Brazilian flag being like 😕 hahaha love you so I have to say... the Anitta look was inspired by our falg🇧🇷
Anita is in the colors and line work because it mimics the Brazilan Flag! I was there for weekend 1 at coachella and the variety of outfit "genres" was vast and it was very fun to people watch
The scream I scrumpt when you made the “rotten” and “fairy in the dessert” comments about James Charles 💀💀💀
"scrumpt" ha!
Natalia Fedner uses recycled silver I believe, and the chain is actually knitted. It’s a patented technique which is crazy to think there is still things that haven’t really been done. I love her brand!
“This is a fairy running through the desert” hahaha, dead. But also those bv lido sandals in the background 👀❤️
I wish you could review Maneskin, they were lit with their outfits
Harry’s outfit isn’t actually a jumpsuit, it’s a top + pants made to look like a jumpsuit. And there is a fun theory going around that he is meant to look like the Rainbow Fish- as a bridge from his last album and the music video for Adore You. In the Adore You music video, he wore a denim look that his whole band then wore at Coachella, and the videos centers around him setting a fish free back to the ocean to live freely, truly, etc.
It’s a fun connection in my opinion from his last album to setting himself more free with this time in his life (:
I hope you’re able to see this because I personally think it’s a fun detail
yeah.. it was not a jumpsuit. Poor boy kept pulling his pants up😅
Anitta's using a Brazilian's Flag inspired outfit~ The Crystals represent that stars
LOVE to see Wisdom included - his style is incredible and I’d love to see you two just have a conversation about fashion!!!
Great video, I missed your Coachella breakdowns the past few years!
all of phoebe’s tour outfits are so good!! can’t wait to see if she has another one prepared for the rest of this tour
Honestly can't see the t-shirt Doja is wearing without thinking of Lip wearing that shirt while smashing up the cars in season 4 of Shameless & that was in like 2014
“It’s a lottt? And not in a good way?” 😂 2nd video I’ve watched and I’m already obsessed with you.
If James could go to Coachella naked, he would. It’s just about showing skin with him, not about the event or the aesthetic. 🤢
Lol, wow you make me laugh a lot. Especially the “elegance” comment for Billy, in the 1997 high school Volleyball look...at 4:30 mins. 😆
The outfits, didn’t hate them didn’t love them. While some people I loved there were lots this year I looked at and said ehh
To all who say "Anittas outfit is the Brazilian flag" i only have to say the ideea is nice ive seen artist draw flag based clothing , in her case the execution is done poorly
Hoped you would have talked about Måneskin in Gucci, but otherwise this video was great ☺️
I dig Billies performance outfit. It feels very Billie
We always criticize Charli for dressing too old so I actually like the white dress. It's cute! It's young. I love it. She looks happy
Conan's look was really pretty when he was on stage.
I'd love to see your take/view on Wisdom's fashion content now that I see hik in this vid lol. All the things he does goes over my head and I feel like you'd make it more digestible
Baby’s first Coachella 🤣🤣gold
The best way to escape from James Charles is to ignore him.
Doja and Bretman wearing the same style of R13 boots. I smell a new trend forming
Anita’s outfit colors represent the colors of the Brazilian flag, they are not there just for ‘her to be seen far away from the stage’ (:
Love your videos xoxo
James Charles out here sliding into minors DMs yet is still going to every event 🤔

I subscribed to you the minute you said James Charles was "more a look for the faeries running in the forest for A Midsummer Night" 😂
Okay but I love the Elsa Perreti cuff you’re wearing
Storm Reid's presentation of Etro was the winner for me! I just kept coming back to it.
I appreciate Luke describing each look so that you don't need to see it to *feel* it
Man I wish you would have covered CL + 2NE1 cause CL and Dara went outttttt for it.
This right here honey!!!!!
+
I love the title lol we truly can’t escape that mess of a person
In my opinion Anitta's colors represent the Brazilian flag. And the feathers could represent the Brazilian samba dance feather outfits... that's what I think 🤔
You should definitely review little mix outfits, especially the tour ones. Would love to know your pov!!
Ah yes Coachella, the trust fund kids’ rave on mommy and daddy’s money
You might want to check out Stromae's fashion--he, his brother, and his wife have their own fashion and lifestyle label in their hometown (Brussels, their label is Mosaert) and they also design all his and his band's outfits and stage stuff. He performed right before Billie Eilish (and he's collaborated with her musically too).
That Rick Owen pant. #1 of the whole thing. Also, as a Yankee in the UK long time, we don't critique fashion at festivals but this is interesting I didn't know. At any rate @ HLM ur knowledge and commentary is great. Much love.
Vanessa Hudgens has been returned to Coachella. The earth is healing.
Love that you spoke about Wisdom, love him and his looks so much
The Jim Chuck comments had me giggling. There was certainly a fungus amongus. I thank you. 💖
