Nice video and very interesting. As a viewer on the other side of the pond, I’m curious about the comment on the “red diesel debacle”; does it carry ramifications greater than the difference in cost between red and white diesel? Thanks for posting!
It depends what you mean by there, We did it in very easy stages so it took 4 days sailing to get to Holland. We have done it direct from Harwich to Vlissingen in the past and that takes about 20 - 22 hours on average. The secret to making a quick passage is to ensure you arrive at the approaches to the Scheldt as the tide is beginning to flood. If you get that wrong the final few miles will take an aweful long time.
Its a Dehler 32 which seems to have gone out of production recently. Not my boat but very nice. Perhaps slightly overcanvassed for the average couple. The owner has fitted a slightly smaller jib to avoid having to reef too soon, particularly as it has the 1.7m keel rather than the 1.9m standard.
Very nicely put together video Peter, I very much enjoyed that. Oh for more summers like that one ☀️
Awesome Peter, a bit quiet on the sailing front this year! Would love to join you on a passage

Why a blue ensign? Thank you
The owner is a member of the Royal Harwich Sailing Club and is flying the club ensign.
Good adventure , thanks ...
