    Great video,
    As for the battery, I simply removed the battery tray and modified the inside of the fuselage to make a new battery tray on the floor.
    I did this because I found the CG was too far forward as per the manual suggested range. Mine flies great with the CG about 3/4 of an inch behind the suggested rear of the range.
    Now I can run any battery from a 3S 2200mAh (not that I ever will) all the way through to a 4S 3300mAh pack and set the CG perfectly every time. Plus not needing to worry about the tray sliding.

    Adam fantastic flying and reviewing. I did an easy modification to my Eflite Blonde 1.2 P51 by using a battery board with Velcro instead of the battery tray. Like this iteration of P51. Jeff in LA USA

    Adam, I've wanted to text you for some time to thank you for the controlled, tasteful and professional way you do your reviews as opposed to 99% of the rest...no names necessary its obvious. I trust your reviews and views on everything and appreciate the professional way you plan and set out about the review of whatever it is on. I've been involved and worked in model aviation since 1979 and enjoy nitro, Gas and electric 3D airplanes and Helicopters and just cant seem to stop, I love sharing with everyone, especially my 12 year old son. I'm on a trip in Collage Station, Pennsylvania flying jet charter writing this but still try to bring an R/C to teach my copilot on the road (Mini Consendo) and also teach aerobatics, CFI Spin training and tailwheel for Sling Pilot Academy in Torrance, CA as well as experimental test flying which takes me back to your reviews which are much more like the briefings we give in full scale aviation, thank you for bringing model aviation back up a notch. Please don't go anywhere! I think I can speak for a few we appreciate you! Keep up the great work : ) PS I grew up around Mr. Bob Hoover who inspired my life in aerobatics, thank you for doing him justice on the one wheel landings : )

      Man thanks very much for taking the time to write this...we really appreciate it! Your aviation story is fantastic...having Bob Hoover as a mentor must have been amazing! I come from a full scale background. My first hero in life was my brother. He was a Marine A-4M Pilot, then flew for Delta until retirement as a 777 captain. Instructed me in a 177 Cardinal and a J-3. Many of my methods and preferences in model aviation stem from that. We are blessed to be able to share. Oh, and yes...I one wheel everything because of Bob!

    Love your channel. I and a friend have the June Nite which is the same build as this plane. We found that the typical nose-over on grass is fixed by placing the batteries back on the tray, progressively more as the battery size increases. We fly 4s 2200 to 4000 and though the plane “bench balances” neutral to a little tail heavy, the nose-over is overcome and flies on rails still. So for this plane, the CG range has a wide cushion and once you go aft with the bigger batteries the plane behaves on take off roll and in flight. A really nice plane.

      Thanks brother! So, I'm amazed I don't know this, but what is your favorite warbird? I know you like the PZ Wildcats, but if you could have a super scale 1.5m anything warbird...what would it be?

    • @JustwingitRC
      @JustwingitRC ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModelAV8RChannel Well, it would have to be the Wildcat because I've liked them even longer than I've liked Twin Otters, and that's saying something! I understand the landing gear would be pretty tricky though, but if Blitzworks RC can do it, I'm sure HH could pull it off. It's always nice to dream...

    Very nice review as always. You didnt even Ryan it into a post :) It flies like you'd expect a P-51 to fly.
    I'd say the lack of a quick connect is a feature. It allows you to set up different wing types if you have control of all the surfaces, though I'd rather have that on a Timber than a P-51.
    Chuck Yeager was the greatest pilot of WW 2 :)

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ModelAV8RChannel Great flying and review - very smooth camera work as well! A favorite book of mine is: 'To Fly and Fight' which is about Col. C E "Bud" Anderson. In the forward by Chuck Yeager he says of Bud: "Best fighter pilot I've ever seen. He's also the best friend I have in the world." I have been lucky enough to see both men fly a P 51. They are both excellent! I have seen Bob Hoover come down and touch one gear down, roll for a bit, then lift off (with power) pull the nose up and do a roll with the gear still out. Back to level, he powers down, and settles in to touch the opposite gear down. He then flew back off to do other parts of his show. Bud is our highest scoring, living ace pilot with 16 1/4 victories and he passed his 100th birthday not too long ago. God bless 'em.

    YES! 1.2m E-flite Mustang Blue Nose! Wonderful!! Super review, Adam, as per the Model AV8R way. Nice to know that future 1.2m product will get nav lights, even though I'm ambivalent as to whether these warbirds have them, or not. It's all about the price point, both purchase and battery costs, and the ability to fly these in less space space than the bigger brethren. E-flite knocked it outta the park with this Bodney paint scheme; it's incredibly tasteful and shows the Mustang lines off a tad better than my June Nite version. *Loved* the scale flying, Adam... it takes restraint, but the rewards are manifold in replicating the real world flying characteristics.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! It doesn't fly better, but it is easier to fly if that makes sense. The 1.5 is even smoother and handles wind better, but it stalls like a P-51 should...which I actually like. It's a more realistic experience from a piloting perspective.

    Quick tip if you are using any of the new NX Radios or IX models you can arm Safe in the radio under flight modes, just bind the radio to the plane and go into forward programming and setup your flight modes, if you do a 3 position switch as I did you, can have 1 mode AS3X and Safe, 2nd mode AS3X no Safe and third mode No AS3X no Safe.

    • @snoriverrc3842
      @snoriverrc3842 ปีที่แล้ว

      But can you do that without resetting the receiver to factory settings? I've found all the BNF receivers neuter your ability to even access those features of forward programming until I have used the Spektrum programmer app and special cable to wipe all that BNF programming.

    • @Tallguysrc
      @Tallguysrc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@snoriverrc3842 Safe is in the receiver from the factory, you just have to turn it on or off with a switch, when you go into forward programming you see gyro settings again you depending on how you setup your plane you can turn stuff off based on how you fly.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes thanks very much. I've been playing with the forward programming to tune a couple of other planes, went through learning to do an initial set up on a AR637T I put in a PNP. It's really not hard at all, just basically follow the instructions. It surprised me how simple it is...I thought it would be harder. I'm typically not a big switch flipper on my planes. In the case of the 80mm Thunderbirds F-16 it was nice to go in to forward programming and get all aspects of the AS3X set the way I wanted. It's very cool to take advantage of the telemetry offered by the more advanced rx's as well. I get that you can assign modes to a switch, but for me personally I don't need SAFE and I'll get the plane set up, tune the AS3X, and let it ride. I'm impressed with the P-51. The first thing I checked was could I adjust the AS3X on the AR631. When I saw I couldn't I was a bit concerned, but the gains are on point right out of the box.

    Great review as always Adam and to the marvelous camara crew. I have the June Nite and upgraded to the same ESC as this one a while ago. It's the same exact plane and about the only difference was the bottom of the canopy in that I had to cut out foam to be able to fit 4s batteries and balance correctly. I also use just velcro for my battery tray just found it difficult to slide the batteries in especially the 4s batteries. Again congrats on you're new endeavor. Great job as usual. I have the older June night version, and love it. It’s small enough to move around easy and as a result one of my go to planes. One thing about the grass ops, thick summmertime grass will tip it over, but if you take the gear out and put a small spacer under the back mounts it will rake the gear forward a little and really stabilize it for grass.

    Dang I might have to have one , I had the 1100m Arrows and it wasn’t that impressive. I finally tossed it in the trash for $199.99. Plug n play. Had very very little rudder , and I do mean little. Knife edge forget it. I had to fabricate the enter rudder and tail wheel to make it acceptable. If this doesn’t tail whip to bad. I’ll be buying one 😊

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      This one has enough, although it takes big inputs to keep the tail in check. You can mechanically get a bit more, but what it had right out of the box was enough. You just have to stay ahead of it. All the 1.2 stuff flies great. I wouldn't thunk the small amount bigger that they are than an 1100 would make as big of a difference as it does. These things are crazy smooth and predictable. If you get one please use our link! Thanks!

    Battery trays are a great idea, but unless the battery is located at the CofG, change of pack mass has to alter the balance of the craft - how is this accommodated?

    Great video, you do an excellent informative review. I just recently got into flying electric planes. I bought a couple of cheaper chargers, but would like to get a more universal charger. Just wondering what you would recommend? It seems there are so many options on chargers. I hardly know where to start. Would like to buy something decent enough that I’m not looking to upgrade in a year. Thanks

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chris! Man you're right. So many choices for chargers. I have some cheaper BGUAD 4 port 100w per port chargers and they work great, but still don't have the power (amp capability) to charge bigger packs (4s to 6s 4500mah and above) at full 1c charge rate. If you have plenty of time to charge they are great.
      We recently got a Spektrum Smart S2200 G2 two port charger. That one has 200w per or 380w on a single capability. The G2 Smart batteries are 5c charge rate capable. It can pump out enough amps to charge those packs very fast. I can charge two 2200 4s in about 5 min! It can charge two 5000 6s at about 2c each, so 20 minutes or so. It can also charge other non Smart packs with balance leads, you just need adapters to accommodate the main connectors if it isn't a EC3 or EC5. It can also charge other chemistry's (NiMH, PB, LiIon, etc) like other chargers. There are an array of advantages to the Smart batteries, but they can't be charged on any other kind of charger, and the Smart stuff is pricey.
      That said, I like having both types of chargers and mixing it up with batteries. I'll still buy some cheaper packs, but also some Smart packs as well. You don't have to have the Smart tech, but it is fast and convenient if you can afford to go that route. Regardless of what route you decide to take, make sure you know what you're doing with Lipo's. They're perfectly safe, but only if you are.

    Quick question…. Flaps, did you set any elevator mix when half or full flaps are deployed? The manual doesn’t have any I could find for elevator compensation- I’m any case, love watching you fly and especially land/takeoff these 1.2m warbirds

      Hey Barry thanks! Man we goofed on the set up page. Usually any flap settings are there, but I forgot on this one! Sorry about that. There is no elevator compensation needed on ours with the balance where we have it.

      @@ModelAV8RChannel greatly appreciate the time you took to respond. Thank you kindly and excited to take off any compensation i put in my nx8. I tried to mirror what i have on my june nite- I could research but just in case you are still here, do you have a june nite? Did you set it up the exact same way since these planes are pretty much the same aircraft save the awesome updates on the latest release (thrust reverse, telemetry)

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have flown the JN Barry, but I don't own one myself. I imagine since the airframes are exactly the same that the settings would be as long as the balance is the same. One thing...our Horizon guy said that the thrust reverse feature isn't recommended with this one. It could loosen the prop and make it come off. It slows down so well you shouldn't need it anyway.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel

      Terry the P-51 uses a removable battery tray, not as much room as the regular battery compartment in the P-47. 3200 max, and that takes some doing. They both fly very well, but I prefer the P-47.

      Hey thanks for watching! I actually have a 100c, a 50c, and two 30c like yours. We flew them all and it does fine on all of them. We used the 100c to do the watt meter tests and see what our balance point/RTF weight was. I just listed it on the set up page because its the one we used to get the numbers.

      Both fly great. The Corsair is a bit harder to handle on the ground. The P-51 uses a battery tray that is a bit fiddly. For me personally I'd have the Corsair just to not have to mess with a tray.

      Good thing I'm confident in the man I am. It would normally bother me when someone questions my integrity, but I've reserved myself to the fact that there are a lot of ignorant people in this hobby. Not that it will do any good, but I'll spend some time trying to educate you.
      Think for just a moment...is that what you'd do if you were sent free airplanes? Be a "shill"? No, ok so you'd be the one guy that is honest right? Pretty arrogant to believe you could do it, but we can't. Also think of this...our channel isn't like yours. Nothing wrong with what you're doing but we ain't hat camming it and sitting a phone on a tripod. We have very high production value and thousands of dollars in lighting and camera equipment. Between me and my wife for instance...we have about 27 hours of filming, writing, and editing in this 30 min episode. Hell, it takes us over an hour sometimes just to design and make our thumbnail. We do that every week, so the planes are not "free." We work our ass off for them and these companies get plenty in return from us...like well thought out, well written, well executed content that is fair to them and the would be customer.
      Our format is designed to be easy to follow. We tell you what is promised of the plane...you can look and read along on the website page. We tell you about the features it has...you can read that for yourself as well. Then we test and demonstrate what the can do so you can see for yourself if it delivers what is promised. We hold the plane to the standard promised...nothing more, nothing less. If it does more than promised, we tell you. If it doesn't deliver on a promise, we tell you, AND...if you're paying attention you can see that for yourself. With this P-51, it delivered. That should be obvious to you if you were paying attention. So, where exactly Rudy did we BS you? And be specific. Don't throw an accusation out there and challenge my integrity if you can't be specific. What part of this review was dishonest? I already know, because we are very tactical. It was on point. Anyone with a brain that heard what I said about it, and watched what it did can see that. Period. So, if you have nothing but ignorant assumptions based on what you've seen other channels do, you ain't packing much of an argument Rudy. You've just taken the easy way out and decided everybody falls into the same basket. You don't even have to think to believe that. Lazy.
      Don't question my integrity Rudy. It ain't nice, it's not polite, and we work VERY hard to be different, so we don't deserve it. So if after this effort from me to educate you if you still want to insinuate I'm a shill, then feel free to unsubscribe and be on your way. Your loss, and we'll be fine without you.

      Ruudy, You are judging a man you don't know.. Assuming Model AV8R isn't being honest about his reviews makes you look foolish.. I'd ask you to watch a few of his videos and you'll quickly see what EVERYONE else on the comments sees. A man with integrity and character. BTW, I bet he spend 20+ hours on this video and gets his free $350 plane.. That not much of a hourly wage ($17.50/Hr). I don't think he's doing this for the money.... Would you do all this work for that?? I doubt it... Do yourself a favor and watch some more of his videos. you'll learn something, or Model AV8R will give you your money back.. 😀
